The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a plug-in hybrid electric version of the rugged Outlander SUV. It combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, and is one of the most popular hybrid vehicles currently on sale in the UK.
It comes with five seats and a spacious interior, and is eligible for a £2,500 plug-in hybrid and electric car grant from the UK Government. It's also exempt from road tax and the London Congestion Charge. Watch our video review to see if it's a worthy alternative to traditional diesel off-roaders.

Introducing The world's first 4x4 plug-in hybrid SUV, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle).
The Outlander PHEV is highly efficient, and the driving range can be maximised with a few simple steps. Your potential driving range can be viewed on the dashboard, and is constantly adjusted based on the energy usage of the vehicle. The ambient conditions and driving style used will influence the energy consumption of the car, and this will be monitored by the onboard system. The Outlander will also monitor the driving style and vigour of the last journey, and will use this to help it determine the potential range when the vehicle is next turned on. A route with steep inclines and hills will make use of the regenerative braking system, whereby the engine captures energy when the accelerator is released and recycles this back to the battery. Eco driving mode also helps to control the energy supplied to the accelerator, in order to encourage gentle driving and increase the range of the battery.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV improves upon its predecessor in every respect. A boost in performance, refinement, and emissions makes for a tempting proposition over the diesel which costs an identical sum. Power for the PHEV comes from a 2.0 litre petrol engine and two electric motors. In EV mode the cars range is 32.5 miles. 156 MPG is claimed and this 4x4 SUV emissions are just 42 g/km CO2.
With seating for five and plenty of partiality, not to mention all wheel drive, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV benefits from more than just a facelift.

The Outlander PHEV is highly efficient, and the driving range can be maximised with a few simple steps. Your potential driving range can be viewed on the dashboard, and is constantly adjusted based on the energy usage of the vehicle. The ambient conditions and driving style used will influence the energy consumption of the car, and this will be monitored by the onboard system. The Outlander will also monitor the driving style and vigour of the last journey, and will use this to help it determine the potential range when the vehicle is next turned on. A route with steep inclines and hills will make use of the regenerative braking system, whereby the engine captures energy when the accelerator is released and recycles this back to the battery. Eco driving mode also helps to control the energy supplied to the accelerator, in order to encourage gentle driving and increase the range of the battery.
