Deham

Deham (The Body) is a 2001 film directed by Govind Nihalani based on playwright Manjula Padmanabhan's play Harvest. It has Kitu Gidwani, Joy Sengupta, Alyy Khan, Surekha Sikri and Julie Ames in lead roles. One of the few English films made in India, its a futuristic story depicting the organ sale from relatively poorer countries to the rich. Nihalani himself called it a "serious social sci-fi film".Deham won the prestigious Netpac (Network for Promotion of Asian Cinema) award for the Best Asian Film at the 25th Goteborg Film Festival, 2002, in Sweden.

Plot

It's 2022. Om Prakash, a jobless young man lives with his wife Jaya, mother and younger brother Jeetu in a one-room tenement in Mumbai. He falls for a multinational company's offer to provide his family a life of luxury for the rest of their lives in exchange for body organs for wealthy foreigner clients. The family's life changes as he signs the contract. They lose their privacy as company watches their every move. As part of the contract Om has to pose as a bachelor and Jaya, his wife, is forced to call herself his sister. But Jeetu, who works as a gigolo, a male prostitute, refuses to permit himself to be controlled and walks out of home. After few months as Om, Jaya and his mother, are growing accustomed to their new life, Jeetu comes back, battered and beaten. As Jaya nurses him the time for the organ transplants comes. The company officials come and take away Jeetu instead of Om for the transplants. Jaya, who has been putting up with it all for long, finally, refuses to become a party to the contract and chooses freedom instead.

Koduri Marakathamani Keeravaani, better known as M. M. Keeravani, is an Indian film music composer and playback singer, who works in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi cinema. He is also known by his aliases Marakathamani, Vedanarayana and M. M. Kreem. He has recorded a maximum number of songs with singers S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and K. S. Chithra. In 1997, he was awarded the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for the movie Annamayya. He has won four Filmfare Awards, eight state Nandi Awards and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award.

Personal life

Keeravani was born into a Telugu family in Kovvur, Andhra Pradesh to Koduri Siva Shakti Dutta. He has a brother who is also a music director and singer, Kalyani Malik. He is the cousin of director S. S. Rajamouli and music director, singer M. M. Srilekha. He is the nephew of Telugu and Bollywood film screen writer and director K. V. Vijayendra Prasad. His wife M.M.Srivalli works as a line producer in films. For some time, Keeravani lived in the Raichur District of Karnataka before making a decision to move to Madras (now Chennai).

Sheeba Chaddha

Sheeba Chaddha (born 1973) is an Indian film, stage and television actress.

Chaddha was born in 1973, and grew up in Delhi, where she develop interest in theatre and started taking theatre workshops. She majored in English literature from Hans Raj College (University of Delhi).

Making her film debut with Dil Se (1998), over the years Chaddha has acted as a character actor in films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Parzania (2007), Delhi 6 (2009) and Luck by Chance (2009) and Talaash (2012). In 2011, she also appeared in short film, Prakata Het Yad in gibberish, with actor Rituraj Singh. The film won he Audience Choice award in the Short Films category at River to River. Florence Indian Film Festival. She appeared in the 2012 film Talaash as Nirmala, a sex worker. The year 2015 saw her triumph with a quirky turn as Nain Tara Tiwary (Buaji) in Sharat Katariya's Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

Her early appearance on television, was on Love Marriage (2002), there after she made a come back in television in 2007 playing business tycoon in Kasturi. This was followed by series like Na Aana Is Des Laado (2009-2012), Kitani Mohabbat Hai (2009), Kahani Saat Pheron Ki (2007), Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (2001-2013) and Lakhon Mein Ek (2012).
