Namie (浪江町, Namie-machi) is a town in Futaba District, Fukushima, Japan. As of December 2014, the town had an official registered population of 18,386 and a population density of 82.4 persons per km². The total area was 223.10 square kilometres (86.14 sq mi). However, as of March 2011 the entire population was evacuated as a result of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, and the town is effectively a ghost town.

Namie is located on the Pacific Ocean coastline of central Fukushima.

History
The area of present-day Namie was part of Mutsu Province. The remains of Kofun period burial mounds have been found in the area. During the Nara period, it was the center of ancient Futaba District within Iwaki Province During the Edo period, it was originally part of Sōma Domain, ruled by the Sōma clan until the Meiji restoration. On April 1, 1889, the village of Namie was created within Naraha District, Fukushima, which subsequently became Futaba District in April 1896. Namie was raised to town status on March 1, 1900. The town expanded on May 1, 1956 by annexing the neighboring villages of Obori, Karino and Tsushima.

Namie Amuro
Namie Amuro (安室奈美恵, Amuro Namie, born September 20, 1977) is a Japanese singer, dancer, fashion model and actress. She was, at the height of her popularity, referred to as "Teen Queen", "Queen of J-Pop" or "Japanese Madonna" Born in Naha, Okinawa, Amuro debuted at the age of 14 as an idol in the girl group Super Monkey's. Though mostly unsuccessful, the group gained popularity during their final year together with the single "Try Me (Watashi wo Shinjite)" (1995).
Amuro left Toshiba-EMI after releasing two more solo singles; she continued her music career as a solo singer with the then-small independent label Avex Trax. Under the guidance of producer Tetsuya Komuro, Amuro quickly became a commercial success, producing several million-selling records and starting several fashion trends. Her single "Can You Celebrate?" (1997) became Japan's best selling single by a solo female artist. However, in late 1997, Amuro put her career on hold due to her pregnancy and marriage.
She returned to music in 1998 with the number-one single, "I Have Never Seen", but faced gradually declining sales. After unofficially severing ties with Tetsuya Komuro in 2001, Amuro joined the Suite Chic group, and then as a solo singer made forays into R&B and hip-hop. Since reinventing herself as a hip-pop singer with her sixth studio album Queen of Hip-Pop (2005), Amuro has achieved new-found fame and popularity. Her seventh album Play (2007) debuted at the top of the charts, and was followed by a number one single 60s 70s 80s (2008).

Fukushima Train Station （福島駅） is the main train station servicing the Fukushima city in Fukushima prefecture in Japan. Fukushima prefecture is located in Tohoku Region. Since the March 2011 great Japan earthquake, Fukushima has become known world wide for it's stricken Nuclear Power plant and the grief it caused to the eastern Japan. I was in Fukushima city in July of 2011 and everywhere you go, things are quiet and seem to be in slow motion for obvious reasons. Inside the train station not all the lights were turned on because, they were saving electricity. Things have gotten much better since then, not only for Fukushima and the surrounding areas but also for most of the Eastern Japan hit by the earthquake and Tsunami. Mr Podniesinski visited the towns of Tomioka, Okuma, Futaba and Namie to take these pictures.
Earlier this year three executives with the Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) were charged with professional negligence resulting in death and injury.
Tsunehisa Katsumata, 75, chairman of Tepco at the time, and two former vice presidents, Sakae Muto, 65, and Ichiro Takekuro, 69, were blamed for injuries to 13 people, including soldiers who were drafted in to help, and the deaths of 44 patients forced to evacuate from a nearby hospital.
The tsunami killed more than 18,000 people and Fukushima was the worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl, although nobody is believed to have died directly as a result of the failure of the reactor.

Hi! My name is Kelly and I am an English teacher living in Japan! I studied Japanese and education at Michigan State University with a minor in TESOL so I am living the dream!
I post videos about life in Japan, teaching, and travel. I also love to sing and perform so you'll catch some of that on my channel as well.
This is my first time experiencing the world of Youtube so if you have any editing tips or just tips in general please don't be afraid to comment on what I can improve on!

Fukushima Train Station （福島駅） is the main train station servicing the Fukushima city in Fukushima prefecture in Japan. Fukushima prefecture is located in Tohoku Region.
Since the March 2011 great Japan earthquake, Fukushima has become known world wide for it's stricken Nuclear Power plant and the grief it caused to the eastern Japan. I was in Fukushima city in July of 2011 and everywhere you go, things are quiet and seem to be in slow motion for obvious reasons. Inside the train station not all the lights were turned on because, they were saving electricity.
Things have gotten much better since then, not only for Fukushima and the surrounding areas but also for most of the Eastern Japan hit by the earthquake and Tsunami.
Hope this video gives you a glimpse of the JR Fukushima Station.
