Y&T: Best of '81 to '85 was the first Y&T compilation album to be published. It was released in 1990 by A&M Records.
The following information was printed on the inside of the CD Jacket.
The Best of 1990–2000 is the second greatest hits compilation album by Irish rock band U2. The album was released on 5 November 2002 through Island Records, except in the United States where the album was released on the Interscope label as a single-disc CD compilation. The Best of 1990–2000 & B-Sides was released on the same day with a second disc featuring 14 of the b-side singles released from 1990 to 2000 and a bonus DVD with a trailer for the album and three other segments. A video album of the same name was later released in December 2002 (see 2002 in music).
The album contained two newly recorded tracks, "Electrical Storm" and "The Hands That Built America", the latter of which was released on soundtrack to Gangs of New York while the former was released as a single. The album also included several "new mixes" of several songs, and the songs "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me", which was released as a single in 1995 but had not previously been included on a U2 album, and "Miss Sarajevo", which was originally credited to Passengers and also released as a single in 1995.
Best! is a greatest hits compilation by the 1990s pop band Jellyfish. The album was released in 2006 and featured twenty tracks. Eight of the tracks were non-album while the other twelve consisted of songs pulled from the band's two (and only) albums, Bellybutton and Spilt Milk. The song "Ignorance is Bliss" was taken from a Nintendo games compilation entitled "Nintendo: White Knuckle Scorin'" and is inspired by the video game Super Mario World. The song "No Matter What" is a live cover of a Badfinger song.
All songs written by Roger Manning and Andy Sturmer, except where noted.
Artur Paulo Oliveira da Silva (born 24 December 1968 in Guimarães), known as Best, is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
After unsuccessfully graduating at FC Porto's youth system, Best joined neighbouring S.C. Salgueiros in 1988 at nearly 20, going on to spend the following seven seasons with the Paranhos side, five of those in the top division: his best output in the competition consisted of 12 games, in 1990–91 (eight goals conceded).
In the 1996 summer, after one unassuming top level campaign with Leça FC, Best signed for F.C. Tirsense in the second division, going on to experience three consecutive relegations with the same team. He retired from football in 2003 at nearly 35, after one-year spells with two amateur clubs.
Nederland 24 was the collective name for a number of specialty television channels from the Dutch public broadcasting system. It also broadcasts a sample channel of the same name featuring a mix of programming from the other thematic channels. A couple of these specialty channel are still available, but are now fully under the wings of the NPO.
Originally it consisted of seventeen channels which were available through cable and online (cf. ).
The Nederland 24 channels were an expansion of the Dutch public broadcasting system, in which public broadcasting associations provide general programming. Based on the amount of active members, broadcasting associations receive airtime on three national public television stations (NPO 1, NPO 2 and NPO 3). The thematic channels offered these broadcasting associations more airtime to expand its core programming. These channels broadcast round-the-clock, all day, hence the "24" part of the name.
The first step towards Nederland 24 was made by the VPRO broadcasting association with the introduction of 3VOOR12TV in May 2003. The success of this theme channel led to the launch of 3VOOR12 Central, 3VOOR12 On Stage, Journaal 24, and Holland Doc channels in December 2004 and /Geschiedenis in February 2005. Initially Nederland 4 was being used with the start of the internet portal Nederland4.nl on 6 April 2005.
Bluegrass music is a form of American roots music, and a related genre of country music. Influenced by the music of Appalachia, Bluegrass has mixed roots in Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and English traditional music, and was also later influenced by the music of African-Americans through incorporation of jazz elements.
Settlers from the United Kingdom and Ireland arrived in Appalachia during the 18th century, and brought with them the musical traditions of their homelands. These traditions consisted primarily of English and Scottish ballads—which were essentially unaccompanied narrative—and dance music, such as Irish reels, which were accompanied by a fiddle. Many older bluegrass songs come directly from the British Isles. Several Appalachian bluegrass ballads, such as "Pretty Saro", "Barbara Allen", "Cuckoo Bird" and "House Carpenter", come from England and preserve the English ballad tradition both melodically and lyrically. Others, such as The Twa Sisters, also come from England; however, the lyrics are about Ireland. Some bluegrass fiddle songs popular in Appalachia, such as "Leather Britches", and "Pretty Polly", have Scottish roots. The dance tune Cumberland Gap may be derived from the tune that accompanies the Scottish ballad Bonnie George Campbell. Other songs have different names in different places; for instance in England there is an old ballad known as "A Brisk Young Sailor Courted Me", but exactly the same song in North American bluegrass is known as "I Wish My Baby Was Born".
So long boy you can take my place
Got my papers, I got my pay
Pack my bags and I'll be on my way
To yellow river
Put my gun down, the war is won
Fill my glass now, the time has come
Going back to the place that I love
To yellow river
Yellow river, yellow river
Is in my mind and in my eyes
Yellow river, yellow river
Is in my blood, it's the place that I love
Got no time for explanations
Got no time to lose
Tomorrow night you'll find me sleeping underneath the moon
At yellow river
Cannon fire lingers in my mind
I'm so glad I'm still alive
I've been gone for such a long time
From yellow river
I remember the nights were cool
And I can still see the water pool
And I remember the girl that I knew
In yellow river
Yellow river, yellow river
Is in my mind and in my eyes
Yellow river, yellow river
Is in my blood, it's the place that I love
Got no time for explanations
Got no time to lose
Tomorrow night you'll find me sleeping underneath the moon
At yellow river
Yellow river, yellow river
Is in my mind and in my eyes
Yellow river, yellow river
Is in my blood, it's the place that I love
Got no time for explanations
Got no time to lose
Tomorrow night you'll find me sleeping underneath the moon
At yellow river
