Click (Canadian TV series)

Click is a Canadian instructional television series which aired on CBC Television in 1962.

Premise

This Toronto-produced series featured information on various aspects of amateur photography and filmmaking with demonstrations of the various materials, methods and devices used. Occasional location segments were recorded at laboratories in specialties such as science and forensics.

Scheduling

This 15-minute series was broadcast on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. (North American Eastern time) from 5 July to 27 September 1962.

Click (novel)

Click (2007) is a work of collaborative fiction written by David Almond, Eoin Colfer, Roddy Doyle, Deborah Ellis, Nick Hornby, Margo Lanagan, Gregory Maguire, Ruth Ozeki, Linda Sue Park, and Tim Wynne-Jones. It is about a photographer named George G. Keane, his grandchildren, Jason and Margaret, and how they affected the lives of different people, such as a Russian prisoner and an Irish teen.

Plot

In Gee's will he leaves his granddaughter, Margaret, a box containing seven lettered boxes and a message saying "throw them all back". Each lettered box contains a shell. She discovers that each letter on each box represents the continent that the shell came from, and that her grandfather intends her to put them back where they came from over her lifetime. This is a gift that will last Maggie's whole life. Meanwhile, Jason, Margaret's brother, is left with a camera and uses it to construct multiple photo albums, one of which consisted of a girl doing ordinary things throughout the day, only she is holding a large piece of glass. The last chapter of the book depicts Margaret as an elder living in the future with her great-niece, watching a documentary about her grandfather, her brother, and herself. Keane Travels around the world taking pictures. Each chapter of the story is from by a different characters perspective who knew Keane from somewhere.

Click (2006 film)

Click is a 2006 American science fiction comedy-drama film directed by Frank Coraci, written by Steve Koren and Mark O'Keefe, and produced by Adam Sandler, who also starred in the lead role. The film co-stars Kate Beckinsale as his wife Donna and Christopher Walken as Morty. The film was released in the United States on June 23, 2006. It was distributed by Columbia Pictures.

Sandler plays an overworked architect who neglects his family. When he acquires a universal remote that enables him to "fast forward" through unpleasant or outright dull parts of his life, he soon learns that those seemingly bad moments that he skips over contained valuable time with his family and important life lessons. Throughout the story, a man named Morty explains how the remote works and issues warnings. Filming began in late 2005 and was finished by early 2006. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Makeup, making this the only Sandler film to be nominated for an Oscar.

Plot

Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) is a hardworking architect who is married to his longtime sweetheart, Donna (Kate Beckinsale) with two children, Ben and Samantha. Michael is easily pushed around by his overbearing boss, Mr. Ammer (David Hasselhoff). On numerous occasions, Michael willingly sacrifices time with his family to work so he can give them the kinds of possessions he never had. While going in search of a universal remote control at the retail store Bed Bath & Beyond, Michael falls onto a bed and then proceeds to the section marked "Beyond". There, he befriends a mysterious man named Morty (Christopher Walken), who gives him a "universal" remote control for free and warns him that it can never be returned.

Liquid consonant

In phonetics, liquids or liquid consonants are a class of consonants consisting of lateral consonants together with rhotics.

Distribution

Liquids as a class often behave in a similar way in the phonotactics of a language: for example, they often have the greatest freedom in occurring in consonant clusters. In many languages, such as Japanese and Korean, there is a single liquid phoneme that has both lateral and rhotic allophones.

English has two liquid phonemes, one lateral, /l/ and one rhotic, /ɹ/, exemplified in the words led and red.

Many other European languages have one lateral and one rhotic phoneme. Some, such as Greek, Italian and Serbo-Croatian, have more than two liquid phonemes. All three languages have the set /l/ /ʎ/ /r/, with two laterals and one rhotic. Similarly, the Iberian languages contrast four liquid phonemes. /l/, /ʎ/, /ɾ/, and a fourth phoneme that is an alveolar trill in all but some varieties of Portuguese, where it is a uvular trill or fricative. Some European languages, like Russian and Irish, contrast a palatalized lateral–rhotic pair with an unpalatalized (or velarized) set (e.g. /lʲ/ /rʲ/ /l/ /r/ in Russian).

Liquid (Recoil album)

Liquid is the second full-length album and fifth studio release by Recoil, released by Mute Records on March 21, 2000. It was recorded at Alan Wilder's home studio, The Thin Line, in Sussex, during sessions that lasted from July 1998 to June 1999. The album was produced by Alan Wilder, with production assistance and co-ordination by Hepzibah Sessa, and additional production and sound design by PK. Liquid is Recoil's fifth album release.

Liquid's music continues in much the same vein as his previous album, Unsound Methods, but it considered to be a concept album revolving around a near-death experience in 1994. Wilder and his partner, Hepzibah Sessa, were driving in Scotland and a Tornado Bomber hit a hillside in front of them, and two airmen were killed. The idea of the album, especially the bookending track "Black Box", centered on what was going through the pilot's last moments of life.

Recoil again picked a diverse set guest vocalists - internationally acclaimed (and fellow Mute artist) Diamanda Galás, 1940s gospel singers the Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet, New York spoken word performers Nicole Blackman and Samantha Coerbell, and Catalan narrator (and Recoil fan) Rosa Torras. Additional musicians utilized were Curve's Dean Garcia (bass) and Steve Monti (drums), Ian Dury and the Blockheads' Merlin Rhys-Jones (guitar), and Miranda Sex Garden's Hepzibah Sessa (violin).

Steve Arhancet

Steve Arhancet, also known as LiQuiD112, is a former professional gamer and current co-owner and manager of Team Liquid.

Biography

Arhancet is a graduate of James Madison University. In 2002, Steve started working in enterprise business as an Independent Wealth Management Advisor for American Express Financial. After four years with the company, Steve handled over 110 clients and $57 million worth of assets. In 2006, he left American Express and joined MBO Partners as the Director of Consultant Services. At MBO Partners, Steve handled roles such as leading, strategizing, and implementing the consumer section of the MBO website for six years.

Gaming

At the start of his competitive gaming endeavors, Steve owned Team XXX, a competitive Civilization IV team. Shortly after the initial launch and beta of League of Legends Steve joined unRestricted eSports as a player, becoming one of the game's first professional players. On August 25, 2011 Curse Inc. signed the entire unRestricted roster, with Steve stepping down as a player to become the Director of Esports, officially forming Curse Gaming.

Moon

The Moon (in Greek: σελήνη Selene, in Latin: Luna) is Earth's only natural satellite. It is one of the largest natural satellites in the Solar System, and, among planetary satellites, the largest relative to the size of the planet it orbits (its primary). It is the second-densest satellite among those whose densities are known (after Jupiter's satellite Io).

The Moon is thought to have formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago, not long after Earth. There are several hypotheses for its origin; the most widely accepted explanation is that the Moon formed from the debris left over after a giant impact between Earth and a Mars-sized body called Theia.

The Moon is in synchronous rotation with Earth, always showing the same face with its near side marked by dark volcanic maria that fill between the bright ancient crustal highlands and the prominent impact craters. It is the second-brightest regularly visible celestial object in Earth's sky after the Sun, as measured by illuminance on Earth's surface. Although it can appear a very bright white, its surface is actually dark, with a reflectance just slightly higher than that of worn asphalt. Its prominence in the sky and its regular cycle of phases have, since ancient times, made the Moon an important cultural influence on language, calendars, art, and mythology.
