Extreme metal

Extreme metal is a loosely defined umbrella term for a number of related heavy metal music subgenres that have developed since the early 1980s. It has been defined as a "cluster of metal subgenres characterized by sonic, verbal and visual transgression." The term usually refers to a more abrasive, harsher, underground, non-commercialized style or sound associated with the doom metal, speed metal, thrash metal, black metal, and death metal genres.

Though many extreme sub-styles are not very well known to mainstream music fans, extreme metal has influenced an array of musical performers inside and outside of heavy metal.

Definitions

"Extreme" can be meant to describe any of the following musical elements: instrumentation (whether it is intended to be faster, more aggressive, abrasive or "heavier" than other metal styles), lyrics (dealing with darker, more sensational topics and themes), vocals (which often use guttural, harsh or abrasive singing), or appearance and stage demeanor (using corpse paint, Satanic or occult imagery). The "extreme" label is most commonly applied to bands whose music is extreme; for example, few would consider Kiss or Alice Cooper to be extreme metal, though they could be considered to employ "extreme" elements in their appearance and stage demeanor for their time.

Brazil (ⁱ/brəˈzɪl/; Portuguese: Brasil [bɾaˈziw] ), officially the Federative Republic of Brazil (Portuguese: República Federativa do Brasil, listen ), is the largest sovereign state in both South America and the Latin American region. It is the world's fifth-largest country, both by geographical area and by population. It is the largest Portuguese-speaking country in the world, and the only one in the Americas.

Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Brazil has a coastline of 7,491 km (4,655 mi). It borders all other South American countries except Ecuador and Chile and occupies 47.3 percent of the continent of South America. Its Amazon River basin includes a vast tropical forest, home to diverse wildlife, a variety of ecological systems, and extensive natural resources spanning numerous protected habitats. This unique environmental heritage makes Brazil one of 17 megadiverse countries, and is the subject of significant global interest and debate regarding deforestation and environmental protection.

List of monarchs of Brazil

The Monarchs of Brazil were the rulers of Brazil, first as a kingdom united with Portugal in the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves (1815–1822), and subsequently as a sovereign and independent state, the Empire of Brazil (1822–1889).

Before 1815, Brazil was a colony of the Kingdom of Portugal. Thus, from the formal arrival of the Portuguese in 1500, when the land was claimed by the Portuguese Crown, until 1815 when the Kingdom of Brazil was created and the colonial bond was formally terminated and replaced by a political union with Portugal, the Kings of Portugal were Monarchs over Brazil.

During the colonial era, from 1645 onwards, the heir apparent of the Portuguese Crown was styled Prince of Brazil. In 1817, in the wake of the creation of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves, the heir apparent's title was changed to Prince Royal of Portugal.

Brazil had two monarchs during the United Kingdom epoch: Queen Maria I (1815–1816) and King John VI (1816–1822). By the time of the creation of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves, Queen Maria I was long incapacitated, and the Portuguese Empire was ruled by Prince John, the future King John VI, as Prince Regent.

Metal Evolution

Metal Evolution is a 2011 documentary series directed by anthropologist and film-maker Sam Dunn and director, producer and music supervisor Scot McFadyen about heavy metal subgenres, with new episodes airing every Friday at 10pm EST on MuchMore and Saturday at 10pm EST on VH1 Classic. Its origins come from Dunn's first documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, which included the acclaimed "Heavy Metal Family Tree."

Metal Evolution is broken down into episodes about a different piece of metal history. History

The series was created after feedback about Metal: A Headbanger's Journey debuted. "Some people said they wished that film was eight hours long," Dunn said. The "Heavy Metal Family Tree" from the documentary heavily influenced the Metal Evolution series, with the Banger Films official blog noting that using the 26-subgenre chart as a "road map, host/producer and metalhead turned anthropologist Sam Dunn, crisscrossed the globe exploring the vast history of heavy metal across its 40+ year history and beyond."

ENGLISH TRANSLATION: To our dearests brazilians In these year our Brazil past through countless adversities. Since violent and unjustifiable economic crisis, most serious corruption scandals til in the enviroment with the disaster in Mariana's dam. We must face that most of it reflects the grave moral crisis that permeates our institutions and our society. When the angels of Heaven sing once more their chant, asking for God's glory in the most higher levels of Heaven and Peace on Earth for good will men, at the boy's feet I pray to Virgin Mary for mercy on Brazil. That illuminates us in 2016 so we may follow the fair and rightful path. May the hope, the gentleness and the strength that distinguish the Holy Family at all times find a place in men's hearts. The date, the 1st of December, 1822. On this day, Pedro the 1st was crowned the first Emperor of Brazil. Pedro I was the fourth child of King Dom João VI of Portugal and was born on the 12th of October 1798. He was forced to flee Portugal, along with much of the House of Braganza, when Napoleon invaded in October 1807. King Dom João VI took his family to Portugal’s wealthiest colony, Brazil. Although Napoleon was eventually defeated decisively, and the threat of further invasions was quelled, by the end of 1815, but as with other countries that had been drawn into the protracted Napoleonic wars, Portugal remained unstable after peace returned to Europe. British soldiers remained in Portugal, with a British military authority representing João VI overseen by William Carr Beresford. After growing anti-British sentiment in Portugal, Beresford sailed to Brazil to ask João VI for more resources, in 1820. In his absence a military insurrection broke out in Porto, in Northern Portugal, which lead to the liberal Revolution of 1820. The revolutionaries wanted the Portuguese monarchy to return to Lisbon, and wanted to replace absolutism with a constitutional monarchy. On 26th February 1821, Portuguese troops stationed in Rio de Janeiro mutinied. Prince Pedro, João VI’s heir apparent, was well known to be a believer in liberal reform, and negotiated with the mutineers. On the 21st of April, João VI and much of his family, sailed back to Portugal, leaving Pedro at regent. In the following months Pedro managed to suppress a mutiny from Brazil’s Lieutenant-General, and won the support of many of Brazil’s influential citizens. Faced with growing discontent with Portuguese rule, who refused to allow Brazil the power of self-governance, but popular acceptance of himself, Pedro broke away from Brazil and was acclaimed Emperor Dom Pedro I on his 24th birthday, the 12th of October 1822. He was crowned on the 1st of December. His rule was turbulent. He abdicated the Portuguese crown upon his father’s death, in favour of his eldest daughter, in 1826. She married Pedro’s brother, Miguel, who threw out Pedro’s constitutional reforms in favour of a return to absolute monarchy. Facing various uprisings and state problems, Pedro was consumed with maintaining order, but also concerned himself greatly with the affairs of both Portugal, and his daughter, Maria II. On the 7th April 1831 Pedro I abdicated in favour of his son Dom Pedro II, and sailed for Europe. He invaded Portugal at the head of a small army, in early July 1832, and defeated his brother, banishing him to lifelong exile and restoring constitutional monarch. Pedro died from tuberculosis on the 24th of September 1834.

Empire of Brazil / Imperio do Brasil The Empire of Brazil was a 19th-century constitutional monarchy that broadly comprised present-day Brazil under the rule of Emperors Dom (English: Don or Lord) Pedro I and his son Dom Pedro II, both members of the House of Braganza (Portuguese: Bragança)—a branch of the thousand-year old Capetian Dynasty. A colony of the Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil became the seat of the Portuguese colonial Empire in 1808, when the Portuguese King João VI, in an attempt to escape from Napoleon Bonaparte's conquests in Europe, established himself and his government in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. He later returned to Portugal, leaving his eldest son and heir Pedro to rule Brazil as regent. On 7 September 1822, Pedro declared the independence of Brazil and, after waging a successful war against his father's kingdom, was acclaimed on 12 October as Pedro I, the first Emperor of Brazil. As the head of state of a huge but sparsely-populated and ethnically-diverse empire, Pedro I was immediately faced with a number of obstacles: he entered into a long conflict of ideals with a sizable parliamentary faction over the role of the monarch in the government; and the unsuccessful Cisplatine War against the neighboring United Provinces of South America led to the secession of a Brazilian province (later to become Uruguay) in 1828. Two years later her throne was usurped by Pedro I's younger brother, Dom Miguel I. Unable to deal with both Brazilian and Portuguese affairs, Pedro I abdicated on 7 April 1831, having reigned for less than nine years, and immediately departed for Europe to restore his daughter to her throne. Pedro I's successor was his five-year-old son, Pedro II. As Pedro II was still a minor, a weak regency was created and the power vacuum resulting from the absence of a monarch as the ultimate arbiter in political disputes led to regional civil wars between local factions. Having inherited an empire on the verge of disintegration, Pedro II, once declared of age, transformed Brazil into an emerging power on the international stage. The nation grew to be distinguished from its Hispanic neighbors on account of its political stability, zealously-guarded freedom of speech, respect for civil rights, vibrant economic growth and especially for its form of government: a functional, representative parliamentary monarchy. Brazil was also victorious in three international conflicts (the Platine War, the Uruguayan War and the Paraguayan War) under his rule, as well as prevailing in several other international disputes and domestic tensions. Unlike its neighbors, the Empire of Brazil was not troubled (even during the chaotic regency period) by dictatorships or repression of civil rights. The last four decades of Pedro II's reign were marked by internal peace and economic prosperity. Dom Pedro I was the first Emperor of Brazil and for a few months also reigned as King Pedro IV of Portugal. He was 9 years old when the French army drove the Portuguese Royal Family from Lisbon to Brazil and he grew up there becoming known for his military skill, athleticism and artistic nature. When King Joao VI returned to Portugal Dom Pedro, as regent, proclaimed the independence of Brazil and became the Emperor of Brazil in 1822. In 1831 he abdicated in favor of his son and returned to Portugal, succeeding his father as king for a time, he died in 1834 at the age of 35.

In 2011 Banger Films released the biggest-ever series on the history of heavy metal and hard rock, Metal Evolution. Based on Banger's groundbreaking "Heavy Metal Family Tree," the series explored over 40 years of metal history - from Early Metal and Shock Rock to Thrash and Nu Metal. Following metalhead-turned-anthropologist Sam Dunn, Metal Evolution took viewers on an unprecedented journey to over 30 countries on 4 continents to interview 300 of metal's most respected musicians including Alice Cooper, Bruce Dickinson, Slash, Lemmy, Lars Ulrich, Tom Morello and members of Van Halen, Deep Purple, Slayer, Lamb of God and many more. The series was a huge success, hitting #1 on VH1 Classic (US) and MuchMore (Canada), and broadcasting on networks in the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Brazil, India and elsewhere. Though deeply underground, extreme metal is not an obscurity: It is metal's motor of innovation and continues to thrive today. However, Extreme Metal was considered too extreme for some TV networks so Banger has come up with a different way to turn "The Lost Episode" into a reality. We're launching an IndieGoGo campaign. We're appealing to the international metal community to help raise the funds to create the Extreme Metal episode. Contributors' support will send Sam on a global journey from San Francisco and Tampa to the United Kingdom, Norway and Sweden to investigate the history, myths and intricacies of extreme metal. Actualmente todos los Kallawayas no son médicos. Sólo una parte de ellos ejerce aún su profesión. Conocen las propiedades terapéuticas de cerca de mil plantas, dándose a conocer como fabulosos expertos tanto en el campo de la botánica como en el de la farmacología. Antiguamente, los Kallawayas eran médicos que atraían la atención de la nobleza inca y tenían el privilegio de curar al emperador en persona. En 2003, su cultura fue nombrada Patrimonio Cultural e Intangible de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Guiados por la urgencia, debida al éxodo masivo de los jóvenes hacia las ciudades y a la pérdida de interés de éstos por su cultura, los ancianos de dos pueblos Kallawayas, preocupados y deseosos de continuar transmitiendo sus conocimientos, deciden reunirse con el fin de elegir conjuntamente un grupo que emprenderá un viaje a pie, a través de la Cordillera de los Andes, de más de setecientos kilómetros. Para los ancianos, este nuevo viaje es uno de los elementos que permitirá quizá salvaguardar su cultura. Estos viajes significan para ellos el fundamento de su conocimiento transmitido desde siempre de los ancianos a los jóvenes durante estas largas marchas en las que cuidaban a la gente que se encontraban durante el recorrido. In Quechua, the native language in the Andes, Kallawaya means “man who carries plants on his back”. Being the only case of nomadic doctors in all Latin America and having been appointed oral and intangible World Heritage by the UNESCO in 2003, the Kallawayas have always had a reputation for being wise doctors and having magic powers and strange rituals. For thousands of years they have been travelling the Andes on foot to heal the most isolated sick people, arousing fear and admiration. They attracted the attention of the Inca nobility and had the privilege of healing the Emperor himself. Only a very small number of Kallawayas still practice medical skills nowadays; they know all about some thousand plants and their therapeutic qualities, proving themselves to be extraordinary experts in botany, ecology and pharmacology. In the old days, these long journeys -sometimes of thousands of kilometers- were part of a tradition transmitted between fathers and sons; for the first time in history, two Kallawaya communities will join to travel together to Cuzco, a city symbolising their cultural wealth and medicine, as it was the place where they had the honor of taking care of the Emperor. The documentary tells how the oldest men from different Kallawaya villages join in a unifying project, with the aim of transmitting the youngest their knowledge, recouping their interest in their culture and avoiding rural migration into the cities.
