Russia: Syrian President Assad in Moscow for talks with Putin

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad arrived in Moscow, Tuesday, to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the situation in Syria. SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "Thank you that in spite of the dramatic situation in your country, you nevertheless have responded to our request and came to Russia." SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "In accordance with your request we made a decision and render the effective assistance to the Syrian people in their struggle against international terrorism, which has unleashed a real war against Syria." SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "The Syrian people are resisting almost single-handedly, [they] are fighting international terrorism for the past several years, it carries serious losses, but lately it is seeking major positive results in the fight." SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "The attempts of the international terrorism to gain control over the vast territories in the Middle East, to destabilize the situation in the region raises legitimate concerns in many countries." SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "It bothers us, Russia, and I mean that unfortunately on the territory of Syria, the immigrants from the former Soviet Union are fighting against the government troops and their number is about four thousand [people], at least." SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "And of course we can not allow that they, after receiving military experience and passing indoctrination, appear in Russia." SOT, Bashar al-Assad, Syrian President (Arabic): "First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the entire leadership of the Russian Federation and to the Russian people for the assistance they have given Syria."
