Big Marble Run Machine: 11000 Marbles!!! (Kugelbahn, Knikkerbaan)
This Marble Run "Marble Tsunami" has 4 tipping containers holding totally more than 11000 marbles. In this video you'll see the 10000 marbles AND the 1000 marbles container will tipping together causing more than 11000 marbles rolling down the giant tracks. The sound is deafening, because of the noise, it will be equipped with noise damping housing and glass panels on the front.
NOTE: This contraption is build inside a indoor playground "Monkey Town" at Gouda, the Netherlands, so don't worry about neighbours! It's standing in a large hall next to a sport center.

Hey ! After 3 domino videos, Marbomino is back ;)
In this project, I use those little magnets that can be used to make cubes and others geometric figures, I think the name is "Neocube".
It's really impressive how many tricks you can do with that, at the beginning I didn't think that I could make a whole project based on those magnets, but finally, it was pretty easy and I think there is still lots of cool tricks to discover !
I like this kind of video when I can't do what I want, I'm forced to think of tricks with magnets in that case. It's the opposite of my video "Random screen link" when I just build all the thing that come to my mind, constraints are good for the creativity it allows to find original tricks that no one has thought (I think, because I've never seen something like this on youtube). It reminds me my project "The New Trick" after rubber bands, let's use magnets ;)
I think this project is the best one of the three I did with marbles, but there are still a little problem : the lighting.
Because now that I'm in a small appartement for studies, there is only one window on my room, it's not a big one and I don't have powerfull lights. That's why some of the ideas in this screen link seems to be darker than others, you can litteraly see the difference when a cloud passes over the sun (and it's happend 2-3 times).
It's also the reasons why I made a project with marbles, in a small room it's easier than dominoes, even when you have a long table !
- Why the video has taken so long to come out ?
Yeah, I know ... but let me explain, because there's many reasons :
First, I had to buy marbles and magnets on ebay, I waited 2 weeks for the delivery. Then I made a first screen link but it was bad because of a format problem on my camera. The movie was jerky and the lighting was terrible because I tried to use artificial lights (very bad idea ).
Also, this screen link was supposed, at the beginning, to be a big machine in one take on my table, but I give up after 50 fails, maybe RGM is not my thing. Maybe I just need to try with more reliable tricks ^^
And the last reason : I'm lazy and perfectionnist, with those two things it's hard to finish a project, because I have this idea in my mind since 3 months maybe, and I work really hard for only 4 minutes at the end (domino builder is a hard job) .But trust me there is more work in this project than you can see in this video, because of how many times I start from scratch.
You can see that this description is bigger than in my other videos, because this time I had lots of things to say, and I realize that it's better for you to know the background of a project.
If you read all this description, thank you and sorry for my bad english, I'm not used to write long texts like this, but I hope it was interesting and I hope you like my video ;)

Marble Mountain is a large marble machine still under construction. It consists of 25 sections that mesh together to form one kinetic sculpture. Every element is themed (or will be upon completion) to an aspect of my life or to something that I find interesting. Some of the elements include a roller coaster, ski jump, Times Square, Lombard Street, and a skatepark. It took 3 years to get to this point of being able to turn it on and watch it go, and I will continue to work on it and get it fully completed.

Facts:
-It has a footprint of 12' x 8' and stands 8' tall
-The material of the tracks and supports consist almost entirely of wood
-Everything is custom-made from materials bought mostly from craft and hardware stores (mainly Michaels and Home Depot)
-The lift is 11 feet long, holds 90 marbles at once, and rotates at 1 revolution per second (60 RPM)
-It takes at least 250 marbles to keep it running without delay, but looks better with 300
-There are 32 possible paths for the marbles
-There are 14 rockers that distribute the marbles onto the different paths
-The first year and a half of construction happened in my apartment before moving to a small warehouse
-The original design was smaller and not as cool, so a redesign took place making it much bigger and morphed into a half-conical shape with the lift right down the middle
-I do know how much it cost to make thus far but even my finaceé doesn't know that number
-It takes just under an hour to set up or tear down Marble Mountain
-Since it is modular, I could remove a section and rebuild it as something else as long as the tracks matched up with the other pieces

This big marble run has a tip-over container that can hold up more than 1000 marbles which will roll at the same time through the tracks. It has also two smaller containers for 100 marbles each. This Marble Machine "MARBLELANCHE" was exhibited inside NEMO Science center at Amsterdam (NL) and now moved to the Continium museum at Kerkrade (NL)

Ortwin Grüttner attempts to put up a new world record, trying to run as many marbles as possible on only one marble run.
The run measures 25 meters in length and has an approximate width of 50cm.
On February 27th, 2015, a total of 10.000 marbles (made of glass, measuring 15-17mm in diameter) were released on the run.
Record conditions: The 10.000st marble must be released before the first marble crosses the finishing line. The flow of marbles mustn’t come to a stop during the run.

Marble Mountain, a themed marble machine
Marble Mountain is a large marble machine still under construction. It consists of 25 sections that mesh together to form one kinetic sculpture. Every element is themed (or will be upon completion) to an aspect of my life or to something that I find interesting. Some of the elements include a roller coaster, ski jump, Times Square, Lombard Street, and a skatepark. It took 3 years to get to this point of being able to turn it on and watch it go, and I will continue to work on it and get it fully completed. Hey ! After 3 domino videos, Marbomino is back ;)
In this project, I use those little magnets that can be used to make cubes and others geometric figures, I think the name is "Neocube".
It's really impressive how many tricks you can do with that, at the beginning I didn't think that I could make a whole project based on those magnets, but finally, it was pretty easy and I think there is still lots of cool tricks to discover !
I like this kind of video when I can't do what I want, I'm forced to think of tricks with magnets in that case. It's the opposite of my video "Random screen link" when I just build all the thing that come to my mind, constraints are good for the creativity it allows to find original tricks that no one has thought (I think, because I've never seen something like this on youtube). It reminds me my project "The New Trick" after rubber bands, let's use magnets ;)
I think this project is the best one of the three I did with marbles, but there are still a little problem : the lighting.
Because now that I'm in a small appartement for studies, there is only one window on my room, it's not a big one and I don't have powerfull lights. That's why some of the ideas in this screen link seems to be darker than others, you can litteraly see the difference when a cloud passes over the sun (and it's happend 2-3 times).
It's also the reasons why I made a project with marbles, in a small room it's easier than dominoes, even when you have a long table !
- Why the video has taken so long to come out ?
Yeah, I know ... but let me explain, because there's many reasons :
First, I had to buy marbles and magnets on ebay, I waited 2 weeks for the delivery. Then I made a first screen link but it was bad because of a format problem on my camera. The movie was jerky and the lighting was terrible because I tried to use artificial lights (very bad idea ).
Also, this screen link was supposed, at the beginning, to be a big machine in one take on my table, but I give up after 50 fails, maybe RGM is not my thing. Maybe I just need to try with more reliable tricks ^^
And the last reason : I'm lazy and perfectionnist, with those two things it's hard to finish a project, because I have this idea in my mind since 3 months maybe, and I work really hard for only 4 minutes at the end (domino builder is a hard job) .But trust me there is more work in this project than you can see in this video, because of how many times I start from scratch.
You can see that this description is bigger than in my other videos, because this time I had lots of things to say, and I realize that it's better for you to know the background of a project.
If you read all this description, thank you and sorry for my bad english, I'm not used to write long texts like this, but I hope it was interesting and I hope you like my video ;)

Marble Mountain is a large marble machine still under construction. It consists of 25 sections that mesh together to form one kinetic sculpture. Every element i...
Marble Mountain is a large marble machine still under construction. It consists of 25 sections that mesh together to form one kinetic sculpture. Every element is themed (or will be upon completion) to an aspect of my life or to something that I find interesting. Some of the elements include a roller coaster, ski jump, Times Square, Lombard Street, and a skatepark. It took 3 years to get to this point of being able to turn it on and watch it go, and I will continue to work on it and get it fully completed.

Facts:
-It has a footprint of 12' x 8' and stands 8' tall
-The material of the tracks and supports consist almost entirely of wood
-Everything is custom-made from materials bought mostly from craft and hardware stores (mainly Michaels and Home Depot)
-The lift is 11 feet long, holds 90 marbles at once, and rotates at 1 revolution per second (60 RPM)
-It takes at least 250 marbles to keep it running without delay, but looks better with 300
-There are 32 possible paths for the marbles
-There are 14 rockers that distribute the marbles onto the different paths
-The first year and a half of construction happened in my apartment before moving to a small warehouse
-The original design was smaller and not as cool, so a redesign took place making it much bigger and morphed into a half-conical shape with the lift right down the middle
-I do know how much it cost to make thus far but even my finaceé doesn't know that number
-It takes just under an hour to set up or tear down Marble Mountain
-Since it is modular, I could remove a section and rebuild it as something else as long as the tracks matched up with the other pieces

This big marble run has a tip-over container that can hold up more than 1000 marbles which will roll at the same time through the tracks. It has also two smaller containers for 100 marbles each. This Marble Machine "MARBLELANCHE" was exhibited inside NEMO Science center at Amsterdam (NL) and now moved to the Continium museum at Kerkrade (NL)
I have uploaded this video after the success of my other famous video, but now in full HD quality and a timelapse of the fill-up of the container and not too many repeats.
