N&W; 475... and Amtrak Train at Paradise, PA
I went on the train Ride at Strasburg Railroad, and to Ride 475 One last time before Her Temporary Retirement, for her 1,472 Rebuild, and filmed her Uncoupling from the coaches, for to Go on the other side for the return trip back to Strasburg. So, as 475 Goes past us, an Amtrak train, comes flying past 475 on the Track Beside her, and what a Coincidence it was for that to happen. It was rather Cool, and Awesome. Norfolk and Western No.475 was Built in June of 1906 By the Baldwin Locomotive Works, She is the only 4-8-0 Operating Today in the United States. NS 5656 & 5655 at Paradise, PA [8/31/2019]
While waiting for our train to head back towards East Strasburg, we met an NS local, headed up by a pair of GP38-2s. 5655 was originally built as a GP38AC for the Lehigh Valley, one of four of them for the LV as their 310, and 5656 as a GP38 for the Penn Central, as their 7717. As my first pair of NS locomotives I’ve seen in person, especially of PC and LV heritage, it was wonderful to catch these two thoroughbreds at work!

ABOUT THIS FEED:
Strasburg, Pennsylvania is located 62 miles west of Philadelphia. The Strasburg Rail Road has been in existence since 1832, and it’s the country’s oldest short line railroad. It offers steam excursions featuring engines 89, 90 and 475, with periodic excursions of Thomas and Percy. In September 2019, the legendary 611 will also have a 4-week run. Strasburg Rail Road continues to function as a short line, with railcar-to-truck transfer of grains, bulk feed additives, dry fertilizers, lumber, steel, bedding, and bio-fuel.
To the right of the tower, you can see the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania: https://rrmuseumpa.org/.
An additional camera is located at Leaman Place in Paradise, which offers 11-12 Amtrak Keystone Service trains a day, some NS Freight, and the turn around of the Strasburg Railroad excursions.
