England i/ˈɪŋɡlənd/ is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. It shares land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. The Irish Sea lies northwest of England and the Celtic Sea lies to the southwest. England is separated from continental Europe by the North Sea to the east and the English Channel to the south. The country covers much of the central and southern part of the island of Great Britain, which lies in the North Atlantic; and includes over 100 smaller islands such as the Isles of Scilly, and the Isle of Wight.
The area now called England was first inhabited by modern humans during the Upper Palaeolithic period, but takes its name from the Angles, one of the Germanic tribes who settled during the 5th and 6th centuries. England became a unified state in the 10th century, and since the Age of Discovery, which began during the 15th century, has had a significant cultural and legal impact on the wider world. The English language, the Anglican Church, and English law – the basis for the common law legal systems of many other countries around the world – developed in England, and the country's parliamentary system of government has been widely adopted by other nations. The Industrial Revolution began in 18th-century England, transforming its society into the world's first industrialised nation.
Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley, OM (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican reggae singer, songwriter, musician, and guitarist who achieved international fame and acclaim. Starting out in 1963 with the group The Wailers, he forged a distinctive songwriting and vocal style that would later resonate with audiences worldwide. The Wailers would go on to release some of the earliest reggae records with producer Lee "Scratch" Perry.
After the Wailers disbanded in 1974, Marley pursued a solo career upon his relocation to England that culminated in the release of the album Exodus in 1977, which established his worldwide reputation and produced his status as one of the world's best-selling artists of all time, with sales of more than 75 million records.Exodus stayed on the British album charts for fifty-six consecutive weeks. It included four UK hit singles: "Exodus", "Waiting in Vain", "Jamming", and "One Love". In 1978 he released the album Kaya, which included the hit singles "Is This Love" and "Satisfy My Soul".
The Bee Gees were a pop music band formed in 1958. The band's line-up consisted of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were successful for most of their decades of recording music, but they had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a popular music act in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and as prominent performers of the disco music era in the late 1970s. The group sang recognisable three-part tight harmonies; Robin's clear vibrato lead vocals were a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the late 1970s and 1980s. They wrote all of their own hits, as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists.
Born on the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived in Chorlton, Manchester, England, until the late 1950s, and formed the Rattlesnakes. The family then moved to Redcliffe, in Queensland, Australia, and then to Cribb Island. After achieving their first chart success in Australia as the Bee Gees with "Spicks and Specks" (their 12th single), they returned to the UK in January 1967 where producer Robert Stigwood began promoting them to a worldwide audience.

The Paranormal Scholar presents one of the most infamous cases of poltergeist activity, the case of the Enfield Poltergeist. Between the years 1977 and 1979, Peggy Hodgson and her four children Margaret, Janet, Johnny and Billy, were allegedly haunted by at least one malevolent entity. The happenings of 284 Green Street began simple enough, with small items, like teapots, going missing, which by themselves were discarded as trifles. Yet, things soon took a more sinister turn... Prepare for the 2016 release of The Conjuring 2: the real story behind The Enfield Poltergeist. Including authentic footage, photos and tape recordings from the time, all analysed and explained. We hope to see you in the comments. Discussion is the lifeblood of understanding. If you enjoyed watching this video, d...

This anglophobic speech is overtly racist but in some ways is based on the truth. Wales was finally crudely annexed by the English in 1536 under Henry V111. Since then the Welsh have been fighting to save its national identity. Rugby Union is seen as a symbol of welshness and an expression of national consciousness. Wales won the game 14 - 9. The speech worked!

The North Kingstown High School Symphonic and Jazz bands went to Wakefield in April 1977. I recently found a cassette tape with the music in this video and decided to "clean it up" as much as possible and upload it here. The original tape was damaged shortly after we returned to the states... Of course... The only tape I think I ever had a problem with. :-( .... The quality of some of this is very distorted... I decided to keep it anyway... The Jazz band part from the main "exchange concert" seems to be missing... It does have the jazz band playing at a school in Wakefield though. There are also a couple of songs from the Wakefield brass band as well.

Originally broadcast 10 March 1980. I have spent a LONG time trying to source this. This 1980 episode of Panorama, featuring a fresh-faced Jeremy Paxman, takes a look at the UK Government's preparations for the public in the event of a possible outbreak of Nuclear War. This pre-dates the seminal 'Threads' by 4 years, as well as a coming a couple of years earlier than 'QED: A Guide to Armageddon' Another little bit of fascinating Cold War history. PS: I have removed a 30 second clip of Protect and Survive from this upload to prevent a copyright infringement.
A Christmas Carol is a novella by English author Charles Dickens, first published by Chapman & Hall on 19 December 1843. The story tells of sour and stingy Ebenezer Scrooge's ideological, ethical, and emotional transformation after the supernatural visits of Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. The novella met with instant success and critical acclaim. The book was written and published in early Victorian era Britain when it was experiencing a nostalgic interest in its forgotten Christmas traditions, and at the time when new customs such as the Christmas tree and greeting cards were being introduced. Dickens' sources for the tale appear to be many and varied but are principally the humiliating experiences of his childhood, his sympathy for the poor, an...
