Sarah Monahan (born 12 April 1977 in Sydney)[citation needed] is an Australian actress. Best known for her role as Jenny on Hey Dad..!, she has also appeared in Sons and Daughters and Home and Away.
Monahan got her start in the industry from her fashion designer father. She was the in-house model for his children's clothing line, and later, went on to appear in over 100 television and print ads.
She auditioned for the role of Jenny in Hey Dad..! when she was six, even though the producers were looking for a younger actress: her small stature at the time, combined with her ability to read the script, helped her to impress the judges and win the role. After filming the pilot she spent a short time on the Australian soap opera Sons and Daughters, playing the role of Cassie Hunt in 24 episodes that first aired in early 1986. She returned to filming on Hey Dad..! that year, and stayed with the show for six years, departing in 1993 one year before the show concluded. She became the primary income earner for her family when her father died just before Hey Dad...! debuted.
Sarah or Sara ( /ˈsɛərə/;Hebrew: שָׂרָה, Modern Sara Tiberian Śārā ISO 259-3 Śarra; Latin: Sara; Arabic: سارة) was the wife of Abraham and the mother of Isaac as described in the Hebrew Bible and the Quran. Her name was originally Sarai. According to Genesis 17:15 God changed her name to Sarah as part of a covenant after Hagar bore Abraham his first son, Ishmael.
The Hebrew name Sarah indicates a woman of high rank and is translated as "princess".
Sarah was the wife of Abraham, as well as being his half-sister, the daughter of his father Terah (Genesis 20:12). The Talmud identifies Sarai with Iscah, daughter of Abraham's deceased brother Haran (Genesis 11:29), so that Sarah turns out to be the niece of Abraham and the sister of Lot and Milcah. She was also the mother-in-law of Rebecca, her successor. She was considered beautiful to the point that Abraham feared that when they were near more powerful rulers she would be taken away and given to another man. Twice he purposefully identified her as being only his sister so that he would be "treated well" for her sake. It is apparent that she remained attractive into her later years. Despite her great beauty, she was barren for an unknown reason. She was originally called "Sarai" which is translated "my princess." Later she was called "Sarah" i.e., princess." In Biblical times, the changing of one's name was significant and used to symbolize the binding of a covenant. In this case, God promised to put an end to her barrenness and give her a child (Isaac).
Sarah Siskind (born 1978) is a singer and songwriter based in Nashville and grounded in folk and Appalachian roots. Her music has been classified as: rock, folk, americana, and alternative. Alison Krauss has championed Sarah and values her songs so highly that she’s recorded two of them, both of which became singles and videos that received widespread airplay. Bluegrass/Folk legend Tim O'Brien calls her a rare talent.
Siskind grew up in a music-filled household in North Carolina, surrounded by not only the bluegrass and old-time her parents played at many jam sessions, but a wide slice of other genres. By 4 years old she was singing and playing piano. She wrote songs starting at age 11, and when she was 14, she completed her first album. Over the next few years she won songwriting competitions and appeared on stage with Doc Watson and Maya Angelou. By the time she moved to Nashville at 21, she had released her third recording.
In 2002, Sarah released “Covered." Despite its title, it featured mostly original songs that dealt with love, family and relationships. It included contributions from guest Jennifer Kimball, whose 1990s vocal duo The Story with Jonatha Brooke had been an important influence on Sarah and who supported her development. Sarah invited Bill Frisell, a modern-day giant of jazz guitar, to anchor the studio band.
