FIRES ARE FIRES. ReStupid, stupid, stupid” (Lorrie Goldstein, May 8) ... The time of year for forest fires has begun and nothing has changed. How stupid! A northern forest and city are burning and what do we have? A handful of water bombers and a few hundred firefighters doing the best they can with squirt guns and shovels trying to put out the first catastrophic fire of the season ... (Okay, we’re speechless) ....

A rural fire brigade first officer had concerns for the health of the national parks when cattle are no longer allowed to graze in then.
