Wish

A wish is a hope or desire for something. Fictionally, wishes can be used as plot devices. In folklore, opportunities for "making a wish" or for wishes to "come true" or "be granted" are themes that are sometimes used.

In literature

In fiction a wish is a supernatural demand placed on the recipient's unlimited request. When it is the center of a tale, the wish is usually a template for a morality tale, "be careful what you wish for"; it can also be a small part of a tale, in which case it is often used as a plot device. One can wish on many things for example: wishing wells, dandelions when one blows the seeds or light them on fire, stars and much more. When one wishes in a well he or she throws money in, in the hope his or her wish comes true, the money normally goes to a charity.

A template for fictional wishes could be The Book of One Thousand and One Nights, specifically the tale of Aladdin, although in the tale of Aladdin the actual wishes were only part of the tale. Also, Aladdin's demands, while outrageous, were mainly variations on wealth (which is still often taken as the most common request).

William Leonard Roberts II (born January 28, 1976), better known by his stage name Rick Ross, is an American rapper and entrepreneur.

In 2009, Ross founded the record label Maybach Music Group, on which he released his studio albums Deeper Than Rap (2009), Teflon Don (2010), God Forgives, I Don't (2012), Mastermind, Hood Billionaire (2014) and Black Market (2015). Ross was also the first artist signed to Diddy's management company Ciroc Entertainment. In early 2012, MTV named Ross as the Hottest MC in the Game.

Life and career

1976–2006: Early life and career beginnings

William Leonard Roberts II was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and raised in Carol City, Florida. After graduating from Miami Carol City Senior High School, he attended the historically black college Albany State University on a football scholarship. Roberts worked as a correctional officer for 18 months from December 1995, until his resignation in June 1997.

In his early years at Suave House Records, Roberts initially made his debut under the pseudonym Teflon Da Don. He made his recording debut on the song "Ain't Shhh to Discuss" on Erick Sermon's lone album for DreamWorks, Def Squad Presents Erick Onasis. In the mid-2000s, he changed his name to Rick Ross. He derived his stage name from the former drug kingpin "Freeway" Rick Ross, to whom he has no connection.

It Was

"It Was" is a song written by Mark Wright and Gary Burr, and recorded by American country music artist Chely Wright. It was released in September 1999 as the second single from her album Single White Female. The song reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in April 2000.

Critical reception

Deborah Evans Price of Billboard gave the song a favorable review, saying that it "has a hauntingly beautiful melody and affecting lyric about the mercurial nature of love" and that "Wright possesses a strong voice, full of emotional depth and presence."

Kelvin Okafor: Interlude at Albermarle Gallery, London http://www.albemarlegallery.com/artists.php http://www.kelvinokaforart.com INTERLUDE SERIES An Interlude is described as a short moment or an interval of events like musical performances or the acts of a play. In this new series of portrait drawings I explore the short breaks to moments of reflection and solitude, capturing the quiet essence of inner peace and stillness that radiates from the subjects. Inspiration I have always been fascinated with closed-eyed expressions, the sense of quietude that they highlight as well as the mysterious character that they bestow to the sitter. As a child I often used to question the reasons why we close our eyes while performing certain activities such as dreaming, visualising, praying or meditating. The possibility of seeing vivid images whilst our eyes were sealed shut completely enthralled me and made me wonder whether others could have had the same experience. After sharing my thoughts with friends and family, it forever inspired me to know that they too had similar experiences with their own projected imagery. At that very moment I remember feeling as though every human being had the capacity to create and enter their own unique inner worlds that no other being had access to but their mind’s eye. Through time, despite understanding some of the logical explanations as to why we close our eyes at particular moments, I still felt inclined to imagine otherwise. Mystery is what has always inspired me and is what eventually led me to create this series of portraits. Solitude As an artist I believe that it is highly important to focus on one’s inner world. Being a sensitive individual, I have always felt prone to being easily distracted and sometimes influenced by family, friends and the media. However I now realise that over the years, by drawing for up to 12 hours a day, I was subconsciously seeking solitude – away from the disturbing outer world – and the freedom to gather my own thoughts and form the courage to embark on a pursuit that I passionately enjoyed. With sensitivity still being a big part of my personality, this voluntary solitude helped me to develop discipline and strength as well as acquire a greater degree of inner peace. Relationship with sitters In order to capture the sitters’ Interlude it was of utmost importance that they were in an environment they felt comfortable in. Whether taking photos or making sketches of the models at their favourite park or visiting their own personal space, I found that by being in a comfortable and familiar setting it was easier for the models to channel those feelings of calm, tranquillity and stillness that were then translated on paper. The resulting gestures and expressions that one can see in this collection are my interpretation of their inner harmony as well as the beauty of their solitude.
