One of my favorite local Seattle bands from the early 90s. Loved seeing these guys live at a bar. I kept running into the sax player in different bands from Seattle to Bellingham back then.

Formed in Seattle, Wa. by drummer Evan Schiller and bassist Paul Hinklin as a "power duo," Sadhappy puts to shame the use of "drums n' bass" in other genres of music. Releasing albums on their own Periscope label, Sadhappy pushes the interplay of proggish bass and jazzy drumming to the front of the mix. The duo is joined by other musicians for each album-the saxophonist Skerik on 1992's Depth Charge, 1993's Live, and 1994's The Good, The Bad... and The Scary, by guitarist Bill Frisell on one track of Live, and by Windham Hill bassist Michael Manring on 1998's Good Day Bad Dream.
With their emphasis on bass guitar and song titles like "Home Lobotomy Kit" and "Everybody Thinks I'm an Asshole (But I'm Really Just a Skull Bongo)," comparisons to Primus have been legion. But their roots extend much deeper- namely, to the bass-fronted jazz-rock trio Back Door, which in the early 70s boasted a similar line-up of drums, bass, and sax. Sadhappy's current trio of two basses and a drummer might be compared to Magma's use of an "Air Bass" and an "Earth Bass." The double-bass format would be a disaster in the hands of the less talented, but it's worked brilliantly for Sadhappy. Their preference for spoken word also helps-not being tied to lyrics, the band is free to engage in every instrumental whim. Track 06 - Depth Charge.

Depth charge
A depth charge is an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) weapon intended to destroy or cripple a target submarine by being dropped into the water close to its target and detonating, subjecting the target to a powerful and destructive hydraulic shock. Most depth charges use high explosive charges and a fuze set to detonate the charge typically at a preselected depth. Depth charges can be dropped by ships, patrol aircraft, and helicopters. Depth charges have now largely been replaced by anti-submarine homing torpedoes.
A depth charge fitted with a nuclear warhead is known as a "nuclear depth bomb". These were designed to be dropped from a patrol plane or deployed by an anti-submarine missile from a surface ship, or another submarine, located a safe distance away. All nuclear anti-submarine weapons were withdrawn from service by the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, and China in or around 1990. They were replaced by conventional weapons whose accuracy and range had improved greatly as ASW technology improved.

Black operation
A black operation or black op is a covert operation by a government, a government agency, or a military organization. This can include activities by private companies or groups. Key features of a black operation are that it is secret and it is not attributable to the organization carrying it out. The main difference between a black operation and one that is merely secret is that a black operation involves a significant degree of deception, to conceal who is behind it or to make it appear that some other entity is responsible ("false flag" operations).
A single such activity may be called a "black bag operation"; that term is primarily used for covert or clandestine surreptitious entries into structures to obtain information for human intelligence operations. Such operations are known to have been carried out by the FBI, the Central Intelligence Agency,Mossad, MI6, ISI (Pakistan), RAW, MSS, and the intelligence services of other nations.
Etymology
"Black" may be used as a generic term for any government activity that is hidden or secret. For example, some activities by military and intel agencies are funded by a classified "black budget," of which the details, and sometimes even the total, are hidden from the public and from most congressional oversight.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III
Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a military science fiction first-person shooter video game, developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. It is the twelfth entry in the Call of Duty series and the sequel to the 2012 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops II. It was released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 6, 2015. A feature-limited version developed by Beenox and Mercenary Technology that only supports multiplayer modes was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Upon release, the game received positive reviews from critics and was a commercial success.

Setting and characters
Call of Duty: Black Ops III takes place in 2065, 40 years after the events of Black Ops II, in a world facing upheaval from climate change and new technologies. In response to the drone assaults of Black Ops 2, several countries around the world have developed high-tech air defenses that render conventional air forces virtually useless. As such, most of the warfare between countries is done by covert operatives fighting behind enemy lines. Military technology has progressed to the point where robotics play a major role in combat, and both fully robotic humanoid drones and cyborg supersoldiers have been developed to fight in the battlefield. As a result, there is speculation and fear about an eventual robotic takeover. The game follows a team of black ops soldiers, like previous installments in the Black Ops series.

Releasing albums on their own Periscope label, Sadhappy pushes the interplay of proggish bass and jazzy drumming to the front of the mix. The duo is joined by other musicians for each album-the saxophonist Skerik on 1992's Depth Charge, 1993's Live, and 1994's The Good, The Bad... and The Scary, by guitarist Bill Frisell on one track of Live, and by Windham Hill bassist Michael Manring on 1998's Good Day Bad Dream.
With their emphasis on bass guitar and song titles like "Home Lobotomy Kit" and "Everybody Thinks I'm an Asshole (But I'm Really Just a Skull Bongo)," comparisons to Primus have been legion. But their roots extend much deeper- namely, to the bass-fronted jazz-rock trio Back Door, which in the early 70s boasted a similar line-up of drums, bass, and sax. Sadhappy's current trio of two basses and a drummer might be compared to Magma's use of an "Air Bass" and an "Earth Bass." The double-bass format would be a disaster in the hands of the less talented, but it's worked brilliantly for Sadhappy. Chris Reed's roots go deep. As Plasticman, he appeared on one of the first dubstep releases ever, a 2004 Rephlex compilation confusingly titled Grime. Since then, he's stuck with dubstep through all of its stylistic shifts and fits. His apparent preference for the more aggro side of things—you could say he's a disciple of Coki rather than Mala—also meant that he wasn't the most popular DJ outside of dubstep's core audience, especially once the brostep backlash began. Judging from the bills he ends up on these days, I (wrongly) assumed he was deep into that world of heavy metal machismo. Instead, Reed's Dubstep Allstars is a remarkably diverse, sometimes even sexy, look into the world of dubstep in its second decade of existence.
Like the last few in the series, this one is tried-and-true dubstep through-and-through. If the idea of an hour of that bores you, Dubstep Allstars 10 won't work too hard to change your mind. For the rest of us, however, it's a rewarding listen, especially because Plastician's hand moves a bit more slowly than some of his contemporaries. These are still fast mixes—each song gets about two minutes—but they breathe a little more easily, and they unfold more luxuriously. The smoother transitions even make the mood shifts hit harder. There's one unforgettable moment when the roughneck dubstep dips into sinuous g-funk with Mutated Mindz' "Valentine Dreams." It feels like a freefall into a pit of puffy satin pillows, before the mix picks itself up, dusts itself off and heads straight back into the fray with the thrashing of Stinkahbell's "Sunday Worries." Plastician wisely chooses to keep it brief, ending the mix after a digestible 54 minutes—enough to leave one satisfied, yet still a little hungry.
At this point, anything with the title like Dubstep Allstars is going to be a niche effort, and true enough the mix fails to excite in the same way many of his more adventurous peers have. But Plastician hasn't become a world-traveling mainstay by reinventing himself—just the opposite. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but that doesn't mean your old dog can't get really, really good at the tricks it does know.
