This open debuted on January 26th, the week after meteorologist Mike Caplan was fired and Cheryl Scott took his place. As always, this isn't mine, but kudos to whoever does own it.
This open debuted on May 27th, after lead anchor Ron Magers retired and 34-year station veteran Alan Krashesky took his place. As always, the content of this video is the property of WLS Television, Incorporated.

It's most of the WLS News at 4, from September 14 1984. The Cubs are in the news - but I don't want to spoil anything else! Sourced from a VHS transfer of a throwaway U-MATIC station dub. Mono audio. All commercials will be separated and uploaded on their own eventually.
Upon Ron Magers' retirement, ABC 7 Chicago veteran Alan Krashesky was promoted to the 5 and 10pm newscasts, in addition to the 6pm news he's been anchoring for 18 years. Before that, he spent 4 years at 5pm, 5 years on the morning news, and 7 years as a street reporter. He also spent the last 11 years as co-anchor of Eyewitness News at 4pm.
Here is the close to the 6pm edition of WLS' Eyewitness News on March 28, 2016. No copyright infringement intended, contact me for removal.
Here's (as far as I'm aware) the earliest known (to date) sign-off sequence, from any channel, to turn up here. This one is from WLS Channel 7, found at the end of a Umatic videotape that was mostly recorded over with high school girls' gymnastics home movies from 1977 (boooooo!) and includes: The ending moments of the Saturday Night Movie presentation (in glorious "pan-and-scan" and quite terrible color - it's not the recording - compare to how the commercials look!) of "The Guns of Navarone" [1961] starring Gregory Peck, David Niven and Anthony Quinn. Followed, in that order, by: "Swirling stars" animated opening/closing title sequence of Saturday Night Movie (with voiceover, by Wayne Atkinson, promoting next day's ABC Sunday Night Movie presentation of "The Gambler" [1974] starring Ja...

Here's the opening (and first few minutes) of the premiere episode of 13 Queens Blvd., "For Better or Worse," as aired over WLS Channel 7. This short-lived sitcom - about a diverse group of middle-class residents at a Queens, New York apartment complex, and referred to as 13 Queens Boulevard by both IMDb and Wikipedia - ran on the ABC Network until July 24th 1979, lasting only eight episodes (plus one that never aired). It starred Eileen Brennan (a year before the Private Benjamin movie, and a few years before the TV series adaptation thereof) and Jerry Van Dyke (formerly of My Mother, the Car and later of Coach) as happily married couple Felicia and Steven Winters, and also featured Marcia Rodd as divorcée Elaine Dowling (she had been the original Carol Traynor in an All in the Family ...

After longtime morning anchor Judy Hsu was promoted to daytime working hours, this rejoin replaced the customary talent rejoin. It's interesting to note that this is the first time the station's morning newscast has used the same theme as the later newscasts. The top and bottom of the hour opens still use the mid-90's cut of 'Eyewitness News'. As always, this video is the property of WLS Television, Incorporated and its creator. Contact me for removal.

WLS AM 890 radio celebrates its 25th anniversary of playing rock and roll with this retrospective TV show that aired on Channel 7 WLS TV Chicago in 1985. Queimo nesta chama
Neste imenso fogaréu
Pesa em minhas costas
Tanto medo e aflição
Não, não me queima
Olha as velas,
Olha o fogo
Olha o lobisomem
Entre a luz, cruz e a lua cheia
Lá vem a proscissão
Ladainhas, hóstias, véus e vils
Neste grande porre,
cresce a reza pra salvação
E chegou o amanhã
Com a luz do sol
Clareando a fé
E chegou o amanhã
Com a luz do sol
Clareando a fé
E chegou o amanhã
Com a luz do sol
Clareando a fé
E chegou o amanhã
Com a luz do sol
Clareou a fé
