Sir Richard Jolly (1934- )(Knight of the Order of St. Michael and St George) is a leading development economist.
He was, for nearly a decade, the director of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, United Kingdom.
After school at Brighton College, Jolly took his degree in economics from Cambridge University in 1956, and followed this with a PhD from Yale.
The International Institute of Social studies (ISS) awarded its Honorary Fellowship to him in 2007.
Richard Jolly is married to Alison Jolly the noted primatologist.
