Louisiana (
i/luːˌiːziˈænə/ or i/ˌluːziˈænə/; French: État de Louisiane, [lwizjan]; Louisiana Creole: Léta de la Lwizyàn) is a state located in the southern region of the United States. Louisiana is the 31st most extensive and the 25th most populous of the 50 United States. Its capital is Baton Rouge and largest city is New Orleans. Louisiana is the only state in the U.S. with political subdivisions termed parishes, which are the local government's equivalent to counties. The largest parish by population is East Baton Rouge Parish, and the largest by land area is Plaquemines. Louisiana is bordered by Arkansas to the north, Mississippi to the east, Texas to the west, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south.
Much of the state's lands were formed from sediment washed down the Mississippi River, leaving enormous deltas and vast areas of coastal marsh and swamp. These contain a rich southern biota; typical examples include birds such as ibis and egrets. There are also many species of tree frogs, and fish such as sturgeon and paddlefish. In more elevated areas, fire is a natural process in the landscape, and has produced extensive areas of longleaf pine forest and wet savannas. These support an exceptionally large number of plant species, including many species of orchids and carnivorous plants.

Secretary of State
Secretary of State or State Secretary is a commonly used title for a senior or mid-level post in governments around the world. The role varies between countries, and in some cases there are multiple Secretaries of State in the Government.
In many countries, a Secretary of State is a mid-level post. It is usually a politically appointed position, although in some countries, such as Germany and Sweden, it can be filled by a member of the executive bureaucracy (civil service) as a political appointment. In the Holy See, there is one Secretary of State, who coordinates all the departments of the Roman Curia (that is, equivalent to a Prime Minister). In the United Kingdom a Secretary of State is a member of the Cabinet appointed by the Queen on the advice of the Prime Minister (that is, equivalent to a Minister). In the Federal Government of the United States of America, there is one Secretary of State, the most senior political appointee responsible for foreign policy (that is, equivalent to a Foreign Minister).

4th grade field trip 2015
In accordance with the Louisiana history notebook project, the fourth grade students from the Lafayette campus were privileged to travel to Baton Rouge on Tuesday. Students visited the Governor's Mansion, the new State Capitol Building, and then the gift shop at the Art/Science Museum. With such wonderful weather, the group was able to picnic on the grounds of the State Capitol! The fourth grade students were blessed to have Senator Jonathan Perry as a dad, a parent chaperone, and part tour guide for the day's events.

In accordance with the Louisiana history notebook project, the fourth grade students from the Lafayette campus were privileged to travel to Baton Rouge on Tuesday. Students visited the Governor's Mansion, the new State Capitol Building, and then the gift shop at the Art/Science Museum. With such wonderful weather, the group was able to picnic on the grounds of the State Capitol! The fourth grade students were blessed to have Senator Jonathan Perry as a dad, a parent chaperone, and part tour guide for the day's events.

By far, one of the most popular trucks on the Triple-X channel has been the Honey Badger Cummins. Built by Stretch Fab & Performance, this truck has been through some of the worst holes in the Texas/Louisiana area. The truck starts effortlessly each time, A/C blows cold and takes a beating like none other.
Many have inquired about the truck and where's it's been. JD, the original owner, still has the truck and drives it periodically around the house. Since the oilfield crashed, not much play money is flowing through the budget, so until things pick up, it will remain parked for the most part.
Truck details: 2000 Dodge 3/4 ton Cummins, nv4500 trans, Profab, Stretch Fab custom 1 link setup, coils with 5 ton Rockwells welded with custom built high clearance pans. 5 ton driveshafts with custom adaptors. 68" tall rice and cane combine tires 30"s wide. Engine has a programmer with upgraded pump and injectors.

The Beltway sniper attacks were a series of coordinated shootings that took place over three weeks in October 2002 in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.. Ten people were killed and three other victims were critically injured in several locations throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and along Interstate 95 in Virginia. It was widely speculated that a single sniper, initially identified as a white man with assumed military experience, was using the Interstate 495 Capital Beltway for travel, possibly in a white van or truck. It was later learned that the rampage was perpetrated by an African-American man, John Allen Muhammad, and a minor, Lee Boyd Malvo, then aged 17 and originally from Jamaica, driving a blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice sedan, and had apparently started in February 2002 with murders and robberies in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, and Washington State, which resulted in seven deaths and seven injuries, bringing the total victim count to seventeen deaths and ten injuries in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Texas, Virginia, and Washington State, as well as D.C.[1]
In September 2003, Muhammad was sentenced to death. One month later, Malvo was sentenced to six consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. On November 10, 2009, Muhammad was executed by lethal injection at the Greensville Correctional Center near Jarratt, Virginia.
