The following video features various news and talent opens from WFLD in Chicago from the start of its news department in 1987 to present (none of the opens from 2009 to 2012 and a couple from the early 1990s are available due to the lack of available video to be included in this compilation).
This is a reupload as the original video uploaded on November 9, 2013, that was previously reuploaded on November 16, 2013 to include new opens from the mid-1990s and 2012 to present.

Here's an emergency weather alert from WFLD Channel 32, advising of "severe snowstorms and travelers advisories."
Notice at the end, the Kaiser-era "32" logo, plus the use of various weights of the Avant Garde typeface, that typified the station's "look" within its 1973-77 interregnum under Kaiser Broadcasting ownership, plus the first year or so after Field Communications reasserted control.
The music that opened this segment and was heard throughout this alert was the ending section of "Fly Like an Eagle" by The Steve Miller Band (from the 1976 album of the same name, Capitol ST-11497).
Voiceover by Ron Beattie.
This aired on local Chicago TV likely in early 1978.

Here's a terrific piece of local history and the next best thing to a guided tour of WFLD's facilities circa 1970 for you broadcast equipment junkies out there (W.B. I'm looking in your direction...) ;-)
This is Part 1 of a WFLD promotional film for (I assume) the sales department, meant to be shown to prospective advertisers on why WFLD was such a kick-arse station to buy time on. And they do take their time - in the first part showing the aforementioned equipment spread, as well as going over what shows they air.
They mention the Galloping Gourmet, The Addams Family, The Munsters, Of Lands And Seas, The Honeymooners, Big Valley, Truth or Consequences, Playboy after Dark, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Rat Patrol, Man in a Suitcase, The Champion, Speed Racer, The Little Rascals, Sampson, Wonderama, Sherlock Holmes, Candid Camera, The Avengers, Felony Squad, The Flying Nun, Get Smart, Marguerite "Maggie" Daly's Talk Show, Cartoon Town, Newstalk, Chicago White Sox baseball with Jack Drees and Billy Pierce, and movies: "The Pride and the Passion", "Run Silent, Run Deep", "Johnny Concho", "Man From Del Rio", "Sweet Smell of Success", "The Detective", "Marty", "Sahara", and "Not as a Stranger".
Can any schedule sleuths out there help narrow down the timeframe of when this film was produced based on the TV shows and movies they mention as currently airing?
A sketch from The Koz Zone features scenes from this very film. (starting at the 2 minute 44 second mark) I always wondered where that footage came from!
If anyone can ID any other people, places or things in this - please, chime in.
Update: Ron Kordick, former WFLD engineer, wrote in to ID some of the people in this video. He writes, "At :14 in, that's Bob Pairs an operating engineer, like me, who left sometime in the early 70s for parts unknown. 2:27 is Dave Dillman, who was the director of Bill Jackson's Cartoon Town and the girl in the background is Cheryl Stutski, who started at "32" as a phone receptionist and eventually became an Assistant Director and then later on went to WBBM Ch2 as a director. Dillman left around '72 and I believe went to WTTW. At the time this presentation was made, Dave was probably considered our #1 director, except for sports, which was done by Jim Holmes, who I believe at one time worked for ABC.

Obviously this never aired, and was just shown privately, but it is definitely from circa 1970.

This is the 1993 News Open from WFLD FOX Chicago with anchor Walter Jacobson, who made his debut with Fox Chicago the same year after spending 22 years with CBS O&O; WBBM-TV in Chicago. The graphics in this vid are really cool, but the music is way too hip if you ask me.

Here's a terrific piece of local history and the next best thing to a guided tour of WFLD's facilities circa 1970 for you broadcast equipment junkies out there (W.B. I'm looking in your direction...) ;-) This is Part 1 of a WFLD promotional film for (I assume) the sales department, meant to be shown to prospective advertisers on why WFLD was such a kick-arse station to buy time on. Notice at the end, the Kaiser-era "32" logo, plus the use of various weights of the Avant Garde typeface, that typified the station's "look" within its 1973-77 interregnum under Kaiser Broadcasting ownership, plus the first year or so after Field Communications reasserted control.
The music that opened this segment and was heard throughout this alert was the ending section of "Fly Like an Eagle" by The Steve Miller Band (from the 1976 album of the same name, Capitol ST-11497).

Update: Ron Kordick, former WFLD engineer, wrote in to ID some of the people in this video. He writes, "At :14 in, that's Bob Pairs an operating engineer, like me, who left sometime in the early 70s for parts unknown. 2:27 is Dave Dillman, who was the director of Bill Jackson's Cartoon Town and the girl in the background is Cheryl Stutski, who started at "32" as a phone receptionist and eventually became an Assistant Director and then later on went to WBBM Ch2 as a director. Dillman left around '72 and I believe went to WTTW. At the time this presentation was made, Dave was probably considered our #1 director, except for sports, which was done by Jim Holmes, who I believe at one time worked for ABC.
