Gandalf /ˈɡændɑːlf/ is a fictional character and one of the main protagonists in J. R. R. Tolkien's novels The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. He is a wizard, member of the Istari order, as well as leader of the Fellowship of the Ring and the army of the West. In The Lord of the Rings, he is initially known as Gandalf the Grey, but returns from death as Gandalf the White.
Tolkien discusses Gandalf in his essay on the Istari, which appears in the work Unfinished Tales. He describes Gandalf as the last of the wizards to appear in Middle-earth, one who: "seemed the least, less tall than the others, and in looks more aged, grey-haired and grey-clad, and leaning on a staff". Yet the Elf Círdan who met him on arrival nevertheless considered him "the greatest spirit and the wisest" and gave him the elven Ring of power called Narya, the Ring of Fire, containing a "red" stone for his aid and comfort. Tolkien explicitly links Gandalf to the element Fire later in the same essay:

McKellen was born on 25 May 1939 in Burnley, Lancashire, the son of Margery Lois (née Sutcliffe) and Denis Murray McKellen, a civil engineer. He was their second child, with a sister, Jean, five years his senior. Shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, his family moved to Wigan. They lived there through the war and his early childhood. They relocated to Bolton in 1951, after his father had been promoted. The experience of living through the war as a young child had some lasting impact on him, and he later claimed that "only after peace resumed ... did I realise that war wasn't normal." In response to an interview question, when an interviewer remarked that he seemed quite calm in the aftermath of 11 September attacks, he said: "Well, darling, you forget—I slept under a steel plate until I was four years old."

According to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's gameplay design "follows closely from Dark Souls II". Players are equipped with a variety of weapons including shortbows, explosives like fire bombs, greatswords and dual-wielding swords to fight against enemies, and shields that can be used to deflect an enemies' attack and protect the player from suffering damage. In addition, attacks can be evaded through dodge-rolling. Bonfires, which serve as checkpoints, also return from previous installments. Ashes, according to Miyazaki, will play an important role in the game. Magic is al...

Gandalf sends Frodo on his long journey to the Fires of Mt Doom, in order to have the One Ring destroyed. As accompany, he sends Samwise Gamgee, before heading off for Isengard, in order to seek advice from Saruman the White. However, Saruman has fallen for the power of the One Ring and is no longer on the good side of Istari. A short fight takes place, using magic. Saruman is able to overpower Gandalf and lock him up.
The staff of Gandalf the Grey is a symbol of his status as an 'Istari', or Wizard. It was once owned by Radagast the Brown, crafted from an upturned, twisted sapling once crowned with twig and root-like protrusions, but now all broken and worn down. As well as being Gandalf's trusted walking stick and a fighting weapon when in need, it holds a deep magical power. Radagast's rune mark is carved into the side and the crown features a grooved shape that once held Radagast's blue crystal, now serving as a place for Gandalf to store his pipe. Pushed into the side of the staff is a nail spike which Gandalf uses as a tobacco tamper, and once used to scratch a rune into the door of Bilbo Baggins home in Hobbiton.United Cutlery's Staff of Gandalf the Grey is an authentic replica of the movie prop c...
A sudden fear brought to the public eye
We're trading places with the men
Who said we're stronger when we're unified
But now we've come to question all their lies
It's just one great race
To finish first with public gain
We all just waste space
Finding truth in what they say
You point the finger
Who takes the blame?
Who is our leader? Who wants the fame?
Ask the questions and hear the lies
Find the answers
Ignore the noise
We have to think if what we do is right
We hold our enemies to dear
Pretend to stand and be there by their side
But using up the power of their lives
It's just one grey race
Finding truth in what they say
We all just waste space
Finding truth in what they say
You point the finger
Who takes the blame?
Who is our leader? who wants the fame?
Ask the questions and hear the lies
