The Pentium 4 is almost 12 years old, I have had several questions about how well it can handle todays games.
Let this video put these queries to rest.
We Benchmark Gmod, Bioshock Infinite, Killing Floor and Minecraft on a Pentium 4 535 with a AMD Radeon 5770.
We then compare all of these results how these games run on the same graphics card with a newer Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor.

Comparing Intel's i7 5960X to their Pentium G3258 might seem like a "David vs Goliath"-esque battle, but the results might not be so one-sided...

Drinking Game Idea:

In all seriousness, The pentium used to be the top-dog, the king of the hill- the processor you wanted but couldn't afford.
Now it is a name associated with cheap laptops for 12-year old girls who plan to do nothing but scroll up and down Facebook with them.
But is this chip, the 20th anniversary Pentium G3258- any better than it's low-end brothers?
We overclock the chip as hard as we can to find out.
Keeping everything cool is the Corsair H100i.
I am a hardcore AMD guy, but this chip Impressed me.

Let's go back in time and build the Dreambuild of 1998 to play games! This build was the best configuration for gaming.
The cpu is the brand new Pentium II 450 we go only for the best! With 256mb we have a huge amount of memory. To play video games at the highest framerates and settings we have a Riva TNT 16mb and 2x Voodoo2 12mb in sli. Because you need to have a large harddrive to store all your games so we got a 13gb harddrive! The soundcard is offcourse a Soundblaster Live for 4channel surroundsound. The highspeed network connecting is a 100mbit 3Com 3C905B-TX so on lan party's we have the best connection. We have a fast 40 speed AOpen CD-ROM player to cut down loading time of the games. And a Phlips CD-RW to backup our games! To house all this goodness we got a AOpen HX45 miditower with a strong 250 watt powersupply.
Get something to drink and some popcorn and enjoy watching!
It took me over 1.5 years to get all the parts. And the most difficult part to find was the case in good condition. And most cases from 1998 and very ugly. The only part I bought was the Diamond Viper V550 for 5 euro in a thriftshop and the rest was free.

Pentium is a brand used for a series of x86-compatible microprocessors produced by Intel. In its most current form, a Pentium processor is a consumer-level product with a two-star rating, above the low-end Atom and Celeron products but below the faster Core i3, i5 and i7 lines as well as the high-end Xeon processors.
The name Pentium is originally derived from the Greek word pente (πέντε), meaning 'five' (as the series was Intel's 5th generation microarchitecture, the P5), and the Latin ending -ium. The current Pentium processors only share the name but are in fact based on the same processor chips that are used in the Intel Core but are typically used with a lower clock frequency, a partially disabled L3 cache and some of the advanced features such as Hyper-threading and Virtualization disabled.
During development Intel generally identifies processors with codenames, such as Prescott, Willamette, Coppermine, Katmai, Klamath or Deschutes. These usually become widely known, even after the processors are given official names on launch.

Drinking Game Idea: Take a shot everytime I say "Pentium" In all seriousness, The pentium used to be the top-dog, the king of the hill- the processor you wanted but couldn't afford. Now it is a name associated with cheap laptops for 12-year old girls who plan to do nothing but scroll up and down Facebook with them. But is this chip, the 20th anniversary Pentium G3258- any better than it's low-end brothers? We overclock the chip as hard as we can to find out. Keeping everything cool is the Corsair H100i. Let's go back in time and build the Dreambuild of 1998 to play games! This build was the best configuration for gaming. The cpu is the brand new Pentium II 450 we go only for the best! With 256mb we have a huge amount of memory. To play video games at the highest framerates and settings we have a Riva TNT 16mb and 2x Voodoo2 12mb in sli. Because you need to have a large harddrive to store all your games so we got a 13gb harddrive! The soundcard is offcourse a Soundblaster Live for 4channel surroundsound. Let's go back in time and build the Dreambuild of 1998 to play games! This build was the best configuration for gaming.
The cpu is the brand new Pentium II 450 we go only for the best! With 256mb we have a huge amount of memory. To play video games at the highest framerates and settings we have a Riva TNT 16mb and 2x Voodoo2 12mb in sli. Because you need to have a large harddrive to store all your games so we got a 13gb harddrive! The soundcard is offcourse a Soundblaster Live for 4channel surroundsound. The highspeed network connecting is a 100mbit 3Com 3C905B-TX so on lan party's we have the best connection. We have a fast 40 speed AOpen CD-ROM player to cut down loading time of the games. And a Phlips CD-RW to backup our games! To house all this goodness we got a AOpen HX45 miditower with a strong 250 watt powersupply.
Get something to drink and some popcorn and enjoy watching!
It took me over 1.5 years to get all the parts. And the most difficult part to find was the case in good condition. And most cases from 1998 and very ugly. The only part I bought was the Diamond Viper V550 for 5 euro in a thriftshop and the rest was free.

Недорогой процессор с разблокированным множителем Intel Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition имеет 2 ядра и выполнен по архитектуре Haswell под сокет 1150. Работает на частоте 3,2 ГГц при тепловыделении в пределах 53 Вт. У него 3 МБ кэша 3-го уровня и встроенная графика HD Graphics.
Встроенный видеоадаптер тянет легкие игры, на что-то большее его не хватит.
Благодаря архитектуре Haswell для разгона процессора достаточно обычной материнской платы с чипсетом 8 или 9 серии на платформе LGA 1150. Увеличением множителя и напряжения можно легко повышать частоту до разумных пределов. На данный момент официальный рекорд – 6862 МГц. Компания Intel не гарантирует долговечность процессора при напряжении ядра выше 1,55 В.
При частоте 4,8 ГГц все нормально работало и не перегревалось. В покое температура процессора держалась на отметке 34 градуса. При стресс-тесте поднялась до 66. На частоте 5 ГГц система запускалась, но стабильно работать уже не хотела.
После разгона производительность G3258 в некоторых синтетических тестах возросла до 40%. По вычислительной мощности он почти догнал Core i3 4330. В играх после разгона до частоты 4,8 ГГц в среднем количество кадров в секунду поднялось на 20% и перевалило за 30 при максимальных настройках графики.
G3258 в ценовой категории до 100$ проигрывает более дорогим моделям семейства Core, зато он лучший по соотношению цена/качество.
