Interesting period piece about smugglers in a seaside English village. A customs officer is closing in on the operation.
1780: A mulatto is disfigured and left on a small islet. He’s tied to a tree and a sign over him says he betrayed Captain Clegg.
1800: Captain Clegg went to the village of Dymchurch in 1780 and was hung as a pirate. Now the locals are smuggling booze. Captain Howard Collyer (Roy Emerton) and his men have landed and he wants to search for the smuggling operation. With them is the mulatto. He finds a trap door in a back room of the tavern.
The tavern owners go into the basement and tell the Captain to look all he wants. He doesn’t discover the secret entrance to the coffin shop next door owned by Mr.Mipps. The soft spoken vicar Dr.Syn (George Arliss) is the actual leader of the smuggling operation and uses the name the Scarecrow.
The drunken Dr.Pepper keeps saying he sees phantom riders in the marshes. Captain Collyer thinks he knows who they really are. Pepper gives him directions to the area. Before he and his men start for the marshes the smugglers ride out and change the road sign. That gives them time to clear out the oast house of the liquor.
Tavern waitress Imogene (Margaret Lockwood) is constantly pursued by Rash the schoolmaster. She really wants to marry the Squire’s son Denis. Rash keeps telling her the Squire will never allow his son to marry someone of her low class.
On the way back from their wild goose chase Captain Collyer spots a scarecrow and takes a shot at it. When he and his men get to the site there’s blood but no scarcrow. In the village there’s trouble as the mulatto steals Captain Clegg’s harpoon. It was hanging over the fireplace in the vicarage.
On his own Rash decides to murder the doctor for risking the operation. Before it’s all over some revelations are made and Captain Collyer discovers the village secret.
This is a good movie to be on the lookout for if you want something aside from the 20th century.
This was George Arliss’ last movie.
Remakes of this film were later made under the sames. Dr Syn (aka The Scarecrow Of ROmney Marsh) also Capt Clegg and the Night Creatures.

Nowadays Stefan travels the world as a partner for the consulting firm of Heidrick & Struggles. It is a German company with it's home office in the Sears Tower. Stefan is still based in Germany (in one of the firms 60 worldwide offices). He hasn't changed at all. Really. He looks, talks, acts, etc. exactly the same. He visited the states with his MD wife and two beautiful girls last summer for a month.

Interesting period piece about smugglers in a seaside English village. A customs officer is closing in on the operation.
1780: A mulatto is disfigured and left on a small islet. He’s tied to a tree and a sign over him says he betrayed Captain Clegg.
1800: Captain Clegg went to the village of Dymchurch in 1780 and was hung as a pirate. Now the locals are smuggling booze. Captain Howard Collyer (Roy Emerton) and his men have landed and he wants to search for the smuggling operation. With them is the mulatto. He finds a trap door in a back room of the tavern.
The tavern owners go into the basement and tell the Captain to look all he wants. He doesn’t discover the secret entrance to the coffin shop next door owned by Mr.Mipps. The soft spoken vicar Dr.Syn (George Arliss) is the actual leader of the smuggling operation and uses the name the Scarecrow.
The drunken Dr.Pepper keeps saying he sees phantom riders in the marshes. Captain Collyer thinks he knows who they really are. Pepper gives him directions to the area. Before he and his men start for the marshes the smugglers ride out and change the road sign. That gives them time to clear out the oast house of the liquor.
Tavern waitress Imogene (Margaret Lockwood) is constantly pursued by Rash the schoolmaster. She really wants to marry the Squire’s son Denis. Rash keeps telling her the Squire will never allow his son to marry someone of her low class.
On the way back from their wild goose chase Captain Collyer spots a scarecrow and takes a shot at it. When he and his men get to the site there’s blood but no scarcrow. In the village there’s trouble as the mulatto steals Captain Clegg’s harpoon. It was hanging over the fireplace in the vicarage.
On his own Rash decides to murder the doctor for risking the operation. Before it’s all over some revelations are made and Captain Collyer discovers the village secret.
This is a good movie to be on the lookout for if you want something aside from the 20th century.
This was George Arliss’ last movie.
Remakes of this film were later made under the sames. Dr Syn (aka The Scarecrow Of ROmney Marsh) also Capt Clegg and the Night Creatures.

Nowadays Stefan travels the world as a partner for the consulting firm of Heidrick & Struggles. It is a German company with it's home office in the Sears Tower. Stefan is still based in Germany (in one of the firms 60 worldwide offices). He hasn't changed at all. Really. He looks, talks, acts, etc. exactly the same. He visited the states with his MD wife and two beautiful girls last summer for a month.

The Sign of Four is a 1932 British crime film directed by Graham Cutts and starring Arthur Wontner, Ian Hunter and Graham Soutten. Unitarianism is a theological movement, named for its understanding of God as one person, in direct contrast to Trinitarianism, which defines God as three persons coexisting consubstantially as one being. Interesting period piece about smugglers in a seaside English village. A customs officer is closing in on the operation.
1780: A mulatto is disfigured and left on a small islet. He’s tied to a tree and a sign over him says he betrayed Captain Clegg.
1800: Captain Clegg went to the village of Dymchurch in 1780 and was hung as a pirate. Now the locals are smuggling booze. Captain Howard Collyer (Roy Emerton) and his men have landed and he wants to search for the smuggling operation. With them is the mulatto. He finds a trap door in a back room of the tavern.
The tavern owners go into the basement and tell the Captain to look all he wants. He doesn’t discover the secret entrance to the coffin shop next door owned by Mr.Mipps. The soft spoken vicar Dr.Syn (George Arliss) is the actual leader of the smuggling operation and uses the name the Scarecrow.
The drunken Dr.Pepper keeps saying he sees phantom riders in the marshes. Captain Collyer thinks he knows who they really are. Pepper gives him directions to the area. Before he and his men start for the marshes the smugglers ride out and change the road sign. That gives them time to clear out the oast house of the liquor.
Tavern waitress Imogene (Margaret Lockwood) is constantly pursued by Rash the schoolmaster. She really wants to marry the Squire’s son Denis. Rash keeps telling her the Squire will never allow his son to marry someone of her low class.
On the way back from their wild goose chase Captain Collyer spots a scarecrow and takes a shot at it. When he and his men get to the site there’s blood but no scarcrow. In the village there’s trouble as the mulatto steals Captain Clegg’s harpoon. It was hanging over the fireplace in the vicarage.
On his own Rash decides to murder the doctor for risking the operation. Before it’s all over some revelations are made and Captain Collyer discovers the village secret.
This is a good movie to be on the lookout for if you want something aside from the 20th century.
This was George Arliss’ last movie.
Remakes of this film were later made under the sames. Dr Syn (aka The Scarecrow Of ROmney Marsh) also Capt Clegg and the Night Creatures.

A young woman needs Sherlock Holmes for protection when she's tormented by an escaped killer. However, when the woman is abducted, Holmes and Watson must infiltrate the city's criminal underworld to track down the young woman.
The film has Sholto and Morstan together recovering the Agra Treasure in the old fort; and then has Sholto murdering Morstan. "The Tattoed Man" does not appear in the novel. The book is set in 1887 whereas the film is set in the 1930s.

La película cuenta con una de las primeras apariciones de la famosa frase 'Elemental, querido Watson', si bien no es la primera película donde aparece, ya que sabemos que en 'The Return of Sherlock Holmes', de 1929, en la primera película sonora de Holmes, Clive Brook ya la pronunciaba. Aún así, parece que fue Gillette el que la introdujo y la hizo popular en la obra de teatro, aunque no está claro. Lo que sí podemos decir es que esa frase tan famosa no aparece en ninguna obra canónica de Sherlock Holmes.

He’s tied to a tree and a sign over him says he betrayed Captain Clegg. 1800: Captain Clegg went to the village of Dymchurch in 1780 and was hung as a pirate. Now the locals are smuggling booze. Nowadays Stefan travels the world as a partner for the consulting firm of Heidrick & Struggles. It is a German company with it's home office in the Sears Tower. Stefan is still based in Germany (in one of the firms 60 worldwide offices). He hasn't changed at all. Really. He looks, talks, acts, etc. exactly the same. Interesting period piece about smugglers in a seaside English village. A customs officer is closing in on the operation.
1780: A mulatto is disfigured and left on a small islet. He’s tied to a tree and a sign over him says he betrayed Captain Clegg.
1800: Captain Clegg went to the village of Dymchurch in 1780 and was hung as a pirate. Now the locals are smuggling booze. Captain Howard Collyer (Roy Emerton) and his men have landed and he wants to search for the smuggling operation. With them is the mulatto. He finds a trap door in a back room of the tavern.
The tavern owners go into the basement and tell the Captain to look all he wants. He doesn’t discover the secret entrance to the coffin shop next door owned by Mr.Mipps. The soft spoken vicar Dr.Syn (George Arliss) is the actual leader of the smuggling operation and uses the name the Scarecrow.
The drunken Dr.Pepper keeps saying he sees phantom riders in the marshes. Captain Collyer thinks he knows who they really are. Pepper gives him directions to the area. Before he and his men start for the marshes the smugglers ride out and change the road sign. That gives them time to clear out the oast house of the liquor.
Tavern waitress Imogene (Margaret Lockwood) is constantly pursued by Rash the schoolmaster. She really wants to marry the Squire’s son Denis. Rash keeps telling her the Squire will never allow his son to marry someone of her low class.
On the way back from their wild goose chase Captain Collyer spots a scarecrow and takes a shot at it. When he and his men get to the site there’s blood but no scarcrow. In the village there’s trouble as the mulatto steals Captain Clegg’s harpoon. It was hanging over the fireplace in the vicarage.
On his own Rash decides to murder the doctor for risking the operation. Before it’s all over some revelations are made and Captain Collyer discovers the village secret.
This is a good movie to be on the lookout for if you want something aside from the 20th century.
This was George Arliss’ last movie.
Remakes of this film were later made under the sames. Dr Syn (aka The Scarecrow Of ROmney Marsh) also Capt Clegg and the Night Creatures.

Nowadays Stefan travels the world as a partner for the consulting firm of Heidrick & Struggles. It is a German company with it's home office in the Sears Tower. Stefan is still based in Germany (in one of the firms 60 worldwide offices). He hasn't changed at all. Really. He looks, talks, acts, etc. exactly the same. He visited the states with his MD wife and two beautiful girls last summer for a month.

The Sign of Four is a 1932 British crime film directed by Graham Cutts and starring Arthur Wontner, Ian Hunter and Graham Soutten. The film is based on Arthur Conan Doyle's second Sherlock Holmes story The Sign of the Four and was made at Ealing Studios. The film is also known as The Sign of Four: Sherlock Holmes' Greatest Case. Interesting period piece about smugglers in a seaside English village. A customs officer is closing in on the operation.
1780: A mulatto is disfigured and left on a small islet. He’s tied to a tree and a sign over him says he betrayed Captain Clegg.
1800: Captain Clegg went to the village of Dymchurch in 1780 and was hung as a pirate. Now the locals are smuggling booze. Captain Howard Collyer (Roy Emerton) and his men have landed and he wants to search for the smuggling operation. With them is the mulatto. He finds a trap door in a back room of the tavern.
The tavern owners go into the basement and tell the Captain to look all he wants. He doesn’t discover the secret entrance to the coffin shop next door owned by Mr.Mipps. The soft spoken vicar Dr.Syn (George Arliss) is the actual leader of the smuggling operation and uses the name the Scarecrow.
The drunken Dr.Pepper keeps saying he sees phantom riders in the marshes. Captain Collyer thinks he knows who they really are. Pepper gives him directions to the area. Before he and his men start for the marshes the smugglers ride out and change the road sign. That gives them time to clear out the oast house of the liquor.
Tavern waitress Imogene (Margaret Lockwood) is constantly pursued by Rash the schoolmaster. She really wants to marry the Squire’s son Denis. Rash keeps telling her the Squire will never allow his son to marry someone of her low class.
On the way back from their wild goose chase Captain Collyer spots a scarecrow and takes a shot at it. When he and his men get to the site there’s blood but no scarcrow. In the village there’s trouble as the mulatto steals Captain Clegg’s harpoon. It was hanging over the fireplace in the vicarage.
On his own Rash decides to murder the doctor for risking the operation. Before it’s all over some revelations are made and Captain Collyer discovers the village secret.
This is a good movie to be on the lookout for if you want something aside from the 20th century.
This was George Arliss’ last movie.
Remakes of this film were later made under the sames. Dr Syn (aka The Scarecrow Of ROmney Marsh) also Capt Clegg and the Night Creatures.

A young woman needs Sherlock Holmes for protection when she's tormented by an escaped killer. However, when the woman is abducted, Holmes and Watson must infiltrate the city's criminal underworld to track down the young woman.
The film has Sholto and Morstan together recovering the Agra Treasure in the old fort; and then has Sholto murdering Morstan. "The Tattoed Man" does not appear in the novel. The book is set in 1887 whereas the film is set in the 1930s.

Unitarians maintain that Jesus is in some sense the "son" of God, but is not the one God. Unitarianism is also known for the rejection of several other conventional Christian doctrines, including the soteriological doctrines of original sin and predestination, and, in more recent history, biblical inerrancy. In J. Gordon Melton's Encyclopedia of American Religions it is classified among "the 'liberal' family of churches".
The Unitarian movement, although not called "Unitarian" initially, began almost simultaneously in Poland-Lithuania and Transylvania in the mid-16th century. Among the adherents were a significant number of Italians. In England the first Unitarian Church was established in 1774 on Essex Street, London, where today's British Unitarian headquarters are still located. The first official acceptance of the Unitarian faith on the part of a congregation in America was by King's Chapel in Boston, from where James Freeman began teaching Unitarian doctrine in 1784, and was appointed rector and revised the Prayer Book according to Unitarian doctrines in 1786.

Por fortuna, la tercera entrega de Arthur Wontner como Sherlock Holmes, no sólo no está perdida, sino que hasta se puede encontrar en DVD. Basada en la novela original de Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, que sigue bastante fielmente. Cambian sólo algunos detalles. Desde el punto de vista narrativo, lo que sí cambia es que en la película, todos los hechos se muestran cronológicamente, con lo cual el espectador sabe desde el principio quienes son los asesinos y los motivos que los mueven, mientras que en la novela, todo esto se descubre al final.
Jonathan Small, un convicto de las Islas Andaman, llega a un acuerdo con dos de sus carceleros, Sholto y Morstan, para compartir con ellos el secreto de la ubicación de un tesoro. Pero estos prefieren ignorarlo y se lanzan en su búsqueda sin contar con él. Al hallarlo, ambos tienen una pelea en la que Morstan muere. Muchos años después, Small consigue escapar de la cárcel y se dirige hacia Londres en busca de Sholto. Sholto confiesa la historia a sus hijos momentos antes de morir, no sin antes pedirles también que le den su parte a Mary, la hija de Morstan, de cuya muerte se sigue sintiendo culpable. Small pronto encuentra a los Sholto y prosigue su cacería hacia Mary, que recurrirá a Holmes para que le ayude y proteja. Durante la investigación, Mary y Watson se enamorarán el uno del otro. La película terminará con una persecución en lanchas por el Támesis y unos tiroteos y peleas dentro de un almacén.
La película cuenta con una de las primeras apariciones de la famosa frase 'Elemental, querido Watson', si bien no es la primera película donde aparece, ya que sabemos que en 'The Return of Sherlock Holmes', de 1929, en la primera película sonora de Holmes, Clive Brook ya la pronunciaba. Aún así, parece que fue Gillette el que la introdujo y la hizo popular en la obra de teatro, aunque no está claro. Lo que sí podemos decir es que esa frase tan famosa no aparece en ninguna obra canónica de Sherlock Holmes.

Carter was 17 in July 2014 when she urged 18-year-old Conrad Roy III to “get back in” a truck filled with toxic carbon monoxide gas parked in a Fairhaven parking lot. Juvenile Court Judge Lawrence Moniz convicted Carter in June after a bench trial, saying her final instruction to Roy to get back in the truck caused his death. In dozens of text messages, Carter urged Roy to follow through on his talk of taking his own life....

Knox noted that it's difficult to feel sympathy for Carter, who sent Roy dozens of text messages urging him to follow through on his plan to kill himself and then told him to "get back in" his truck after he became frightened as it filled with carbon monoxide and briefly got out of the vehicle....
