Five-time IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year Russell Moore and his group IIIrd Tyme Out perform "John and Mary" on the next edition of Jubilee, recorded live at the 2012 International Bluegrass Music Association Fan Fest in Nashville.
For the past 30 years, Moore has been doing what he grew up wanting to do -- playing music. He has been with his band, IIIrd Tyme Out, for more than 20 years.
"Musically what keeps us going and progressing is our influence of and love of other music, as well," says Moore in a Jubilee interview. The band members incorporate ideas from other genres, including country, rock 'n' roll and pop. "We're influenced by our surroundings, no doubt about that."
Moore is IBMA's most-awarded male vocalist, winning the Male Vocalist of the Year award in 1994, 1997, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
"I'm honored once again to represent the IBMA and its voting members and bluegrass music as its male vocalist of the year. It's always a surprise but always a joy to get to travel around and represent all the people that voted for me and the organization."
IIIrd Tyme Out performs, among other songs: "Hard Rock Mountain Prison," "Sugarfoot Rag," "Raining in LA" and "Wade in the Water."
Members of IIIrd Tyme Out include: Wayne Benson on mandolin; Steve Dilling on banjo; Justen Haynes on fiddle; Edgar Loudermilk on bass; and Moore on guitar/vocals.

Dustin Hoffman
Dustin Lee Hoffman (born August 8, 1937) is an American actor and director with a career in film, television, and theatre since 1960. He has been known for his versatile portrayals of antiheroes and vulnerable characters. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1979 (for Kramer vs. Kramer) and 1988 (for Rain Man).
He first drew critical praise for starring in the play Eh?, for which he won a Theatre World Award and a Drama Desk Award. This was soon followed by his breakthrough 1967 film role as Benjamin Braddock, the title character, in The Graduate. Since then, Hoffman's career has largely been focused on cinema, with sporadic returns to television and the stage. His subsequent notable films include Midnight Cowboy, Little Big Man, Straw Dogs, Papillon, Lenny, Marathon Man, All the President's Men, Kramer vs. Kramer, Tootsie, Rain Man, Hook and Wag the Dog.
Aside from his two Academy award wins, Hoffman has been nominated for seven Academy Awards, plus thirteen Golden Globes, winning six (including an honorary one) and has won four BAFTAs, three Drama Desk Awards, a Genie Award, and an Emmy Award. Hoffman received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1999, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012. Hoffman made his directorial debut in 2012, with Quartet.

Jaco Pastorius
John Francis Anthony Pastorius III (December 1, 1951 – September 21, 1987), known as Jaco Pastorius /ˈdʒɑːkoʊ pæsˈtɔːriəs/, was an influential American jazz musician, composer, big band leader and electric bass player. He is best known for his work with Weather Report from 1976 to 1981, as well as work with artists including Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny, and his own solo projects.
As a musician, he developed a highly influential approach to bass playing that combined a deep understanding of advanced harmony with ferocious technical prowess. His signature approach infused Latin-influenced 16th-note funk, lyrical soloing on fretless bass, bass chords and innovative use of harmonics. He was inducted into the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame in 1988, one of only seven bassists so honored (and the only electric bass guitarist).
Early life
Pastorius was born December 1, 1951, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, to Jack Pastorius (big band singer and drummer) and Stephanie Katherine Haapala Pastorius, the first of their three children. Jaco´s grandmother was a Finn, named Kaisa Eriika Isojärvi. Jaco Pastorius was of Finnish, Sami, German, Swedish and Irish ancestry. He was a descendant of Francis Daniel Pastorius.

Dustin Lee Hoffman (born August 8, 1937) is an American actor and director with a career in film, television, and theatre since 1960. He has been known for his versatile portrayals of antiheroes and vulnerable characters. He won theAcademy Award for Best Actor in 1979 (for Kramer vs. Kramer) and 1988 (for Rain Man).
He first drew critical praise for starring in the play Eh?, for which he won a Theatre World Award and a Drama Desk Award. This was soon followed by his breakthrough 1967 film role as Benjamin Braddock, the title character, in The Graduate. Since then, Hoffman's career has largely been focused on cinema, with sporadic returns to television and the stage. His subsequent notable films include Midnight Cowboy, Little Big Man, Straw Dogs, Papillon, Lenny, Marathon Man, All the President's Men, Kramer vs. Kramer, Tootsie, Rain Man, Hook and Wag the Dog.
Aside from his two Academy award wins, Hoffman has been nominated for seven Academy Awards, plus thirteen Golden Globes, winning six (including an honorary one) and has won four BAFTAs, three Drama Desk Awards, a Genie Award, and an Emmy Award. Hoffman received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1999, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012. Hoffman made his directorial debut in 2012, with Quartet.

Peter Smagorinsky, Ph.D., professor of language and literacy education in The University of Georgia in Athens (UGA), and among the world's most authoritative and prolific voices for educational reform, spoke at VCU on "Authentic Teacher Evaluation: A Two-Tiered Proposal for Formative and Summative Assessment" for the School of Education's annual John and Mary Sue Oehler Lecture for Educational Leadership.
The respondent was Gabriel Reich, Ph.D., assistant professor in the School of Education's Department of Teaching and Learning. Dr. Reich's research interests focus on historical consciousness, the assessment of historical understanding, and high-stakes accountability policy. He has authored a number of articles for journals such as the Journal of Curriculum Studies and Theory and Research in Social Education.
Dr. Smagorinsky is a Distinguished Research Professor of English Education in the College of Education at UGA. He is a scholar of international renown — in his own field — and in the related fields of cultural psychology, communication, human development, composition, and rhetoric. His scholarship seeks not only to refine the theory of human development but also to inform evidence-based practice.
His research has been supported by $300,000 in external funding in a field where funding is scarce. He has authored 189 publications and given 140 presentations. For seven years, he was co-editor of Research in the Teaching of English, the premier research journal in his field, and significantly enlarged the scope of the journal to include debate on topics by both researchers and practitioners in English education. He also traces the implications of his work into the classroom, where he communicates effectively with teachers.

Two people died and as many as 17 people were shot at a Fort Myers, Fla. nightclub hosting a teen party in the early morning hours Monday, The Miami Herald reported via The New York Times. Gunfire erupted at The Swimsuit Glow Party at Club Blu around 12.30 a.m. where police found several victims suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot.
