The Zoo is a one-act comic opera, with music by Arthur Sullivan and a libretto by B. C. Stephenson, writing under the pen name of Bolton Rowe. It premiered on 5 June 1875 at the St. James's Theatre in London (as an afterpiece to W. S. Gilbert's Tom Cobb), concluding its run five weeks later, on 9 July 1875, at the Haymarket Theatre. There were brief revivals in late 1875, and again in 1879, before the opera was shelved.
The farcical story concerns two pairs of lovers. First, a nobleman, who goes to the zoo to woo the girl who sells snacks there. He tries to impress her by buying and eating all of the food. The other couple is a young chemist who believes that he has poisoned his beloved by mixing up her father's prescription with peppermint that he had meant for her.
The score was not published in Sullivan's lifetime, and it lay dormant until Terence Rees purchased the composer's autograph at auction in 1966 and arranged for publication. The opera is in one act without spoken dialogue, running about 40 minutes. Like Trial by Jury and Cox and Box, it has been staged as a curtain-raiser to the shorter Gilbert and Sullivan operas. Triple-bills of Sullivan's three one-act operas have also proved successful.
"At the Zoo" was one of Simon and Garfunkel's single releases in 1967.
The song is one of Paul Simon's many tributes to his hometown of New York City, and was written for the soundtrack of The Graduate, specifically the scene which takes place at the San Francisco Zoo. However, the song was not used in the film. The song begins with Simon's short lyrical introduction in the key of A Major, but it soon transitions to the key of G Major, being a whole note down from the beginning. The narrative tells the story of a trip to the Central Park Zoo; when the singer reaches the zoo, he anthropomorphizes the animals in various amusing ways. The song was licensed in advertisements for the Bronx Zoo and the San Francisco Zoo in the late 1970s.
"At the Zoo" was first released as a single in 1967, reaching #16 on the Billboard Hot 100. After that, it was released on the following albums:
Me at the Zoo (stylized as ME @ THE ZOO) is a 2012 documentary film directed by Chris Moukarbel and Valerie Veatch and starring Chris Crocker.Me at the Zoo takes a look at the young video blogger from a small town in Tennessee. The documentary delves into the life of Chris Crocker who was made famous on the internet through numerous public videos, notably his video "Leave Britney Alone", which garnered mainstream media attention. The film also explores how video sharing and social media have shaped the way people share their stories and go about their lives. On January 17, 2012, HBO Documentary Films secured the US broadcasting rights to the film. It premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival on January 21, 2012 and on HBO on June 25, 2012.
Chris Crocker is an American Internet celebrity, blogger, songwriter, recording artist and former pornographic film actor. Crocker gained international fame in September 2007 from his viral video "Leave Britney Alone!", in which he tearfully defended pop singer Britney Spears' comeback performance at the MTV Video Music Awards; his video had over four million views in two days. The video received international media attention, hundreds of parodies and criticism for Crocker.
Producing and acting in his own videos, Crocker is a self-described edutainer. In almost all of his adolescent works, he presents himself as an openly gay and effeminate Southerner in a "small-minded town" in the Bible Belt. Using "Crocker" as a stage name, he kept his exact location private due to safety concerns and death threats in response to his YouTube and Myspace video blogs and profile until he was no longer a teenager. According to his Myspace profile, Crocker lived in Los Angeles as of January 2008. In May 2010, he returned home to Tennessee, and now travels to Los Angeles for business.
The first video on YouTube. Maybe it's time to go back to the zoo? The name of the music playing in the background is Darude - Sandstorm.

I am going to the Zoo
To see the monkey,
I just wonder if he's really
Singing funky.
I am going to the Zoo
To see the elephant,
I just wanna listen to him
Playing through his trunk.
All my friends are at the Zoo,
There's a giraffe, lion, monkey too,
Rhino and hippo are looking for you,
They are all waiting at the Zoo.
Let's go, let's go to the Zoo.
Let's go, let's go to the Zoo.
I am going to the Zoo
To give giraffe her lunch,
I just want to watch her do the
Munch, munch, munch...
I am going to the Zoo
To see the lioness,
I just want to roar with her
Yes, yes, yes - yes, yes, yes.
All my friends are at the Zoo,
There's a giraffe, lion, monkey too,
Rhino and hippo are looking for you,
They are all waiting at the Zoo.
Let's go, let's go to the Zoo.
Let's go, let's go to the Zoo.
I am going to the Zoo
To see the hyena,
I just want to laugh with her
Ha, ha, ha - ha, ha, ha.
I am going to the Zoo
I'll see the wolf soon,
I just want to sit together,
Howling to the moon.
All my friends are at the Zoo,
There's a giraffe, lion, monkey too,
Rhino and hippo are looking for you,
They are all waiting at the Zoo.
Let's go, let's go to the Zoo.
Let's go, let's go to the Zoo.
