It's been a while since I've been spotting at Gatwick and I'd almost forgot just how brilliant it is! A very busy day, Saturday is the busiest day during the winter season with endless numbers of winter charter flights! Some going far away across the pond to the tropics and sunshine of the Caribbean and others heading the snowy Alps for skiing! A few new visitors since I last went filming at Gatwick as well, like the Garuda Indonesia 777! Monarch were using both of their A330's from Gatwick and both of them operating to short haul Ski destinations in France or Switzerland. Nice to see them both as they won't be around for much longer unfortunately. I've included flight number and origin/destinations of most flights in the video :)

So it's been a while since I last went spotting at Gatwick, one of my favourite airports! I'd been waiting for the right day, when RWY08R was in use instead of the more common 26L and the weather was right. Finally on Thursday 10th September 2015, the weather was perfect, I had no plans so thought I'd head down there to see what was around! I've included some of the flight numbers and origins/destinations. Enjoy! :)

Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 comes into land at Gatwick airport, with the wing undercarriage stuck up and a hydraulic fault.
Latest Gossip.
1: The undercarriage hydraulic ram was fitted upside down causing the fault.
2: The pilot is called Dave William.
3: The daughter of the pilot was onboard.
4: Pilot bounced the aircraft to drop the undercarriage.
5: The WLG door snagged on one of the undercarriage wheels.
6: Nine Tyre safety fuses blew on landing.
7: The passengers weren't allowed to use the toilets for 3hrs, while the pilot carried out maneuvers to dislodge the undercarriage.

A beautiful March morning at London's Gatwick Airport, on Tuesday 15th 2016. Finally a hint of Spring on the horizon after a rather boring winter season. A bit of morning mist still lingering around during the morning but when the sun came out the temperature was quite pleasant, sitting just below double figures. This is certainly the best time of day to go to Gatwick, the earlier the better. I arrived at about 8:30 and stayed until 11am, best time of day for all the long-haul traffic, all the 747's, 777's, 787's & A330's most of which have come & gone by early afternoon.
Gatwick is London's hub for Leisure & Low Cost flights, so a good mix of holiday & charter flights as well as the odd national carrier and scheduled flights.

Hello everyone,
SURPRISE! I managed to do some extra spotting while I was in England. But this time, I spotted at the other major London airport, Gatwick. Before our flight home to Canada, I thought I would spend our last hour in this beautiful country filming some planes. As you can see, a massive dark cloud was circling the area, creating massive downpours. As you can hear, this video is being taken from a café in the departure lounge with extraordinary views of the apron. Luckily, we were able to acquire a window seat so I could shoot this video.
This video features a wide variety of low-cost carriers as well as mainline carriers such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, EasyJet, Pegasus Airlines, Aurginy Airways and so much more! You see them here taking off, landing, taxiing, pushing back and pulling in to the gate. I honestly was not expecting to get a video like this so this video is a real treat for you all.

Gatwick already flies direct to more destinations than any other UK airport – building a second runway would not only strengthen our routes to emerging markets, it would also relieve pressure and free-up hub capacity at Heathrow.
The runway debate has been going on for decades now - and time is something that the UK really can’t afford. Every month that our country doesn't have a new runway is another month of missed opportunity for economic growth.
The Airports Commission agrees that Gatwick is able to deliver Britain’s new runway by 2025. We believe this will be much faster than Heathrow could and with minimal disruption compared to any other options. Our plan does not require any additional funding from the taxpayer.
We just don’t face the same geographical challenges associated with Heathrow’s expansion plans, like having to build their runway over the M25; Heathrow’s improvements to transport links have been estimated by the Commission to cost £5.7 billion and much of this could be borne by the taxpayer.
With two world class airports working to their strengths, the sky is the limit. So, enough of the debate, let’s get on with it and make the right decision for Britain’s future.
Getting to and from Gatwick couldn’t be easier, with the quickest direct connections to London and the South East, plus improved terminal facilities and connections.
Other truly global cities like New York, Paris, and Tokyo don’t rely on one mega hub to serve all of their air travel requirements. They spread capacity through a network of airports, giving passengers more options and more opportunities to fly - exactly what Britain needs for the future.
But it’s not just the British economy that stands to benefit from a system of two world class airports. Passengers will also enjoy better service and lower fares as a result of greater competition in the industry.

15/02/15 - With ATC - Plane Spotting at Gatwick Airport Part 1 of 2 featuring RWY08R operations on Sunday 15th February.
Lots of movements throughout the day, with many EasyJet, Norwegian and British Airways aircraft. Interesting to hear and see aircraft being cleared to land with such a close margin between aircraft taking off. The Meridiana 737-300 EI-IGR was very eager to take off as seen when he took the bend to line up with 08R very quick! Close from skidding. Also, I have never seen an airline called ParkinGO before. They are an Italian airline seen in this video operating a 737-400 OM-GTB. More to come in Part 2, this time a slightly different perspective of arriving, departing and taxiing aircraft.
Aircraft types in this video include: Airbus A319, A320, A321 and A330. Boeing, 737, 747, 757, 777 and 787

Gatwick Airport (IATA: LGW, ICAO: EGKK) is located 3.1 mi (5.0 km) north of the centre of Crawley,West Sussex, and 29.5 mi (47.5 km) south of Central London. Also known as London Gatwick, it is London's second largest international airport and second busiest by total passenger traffic in the United Kingdom after Heathrow. A very busy day, Saturday is the busiest day during the winter season with endless numbers of winter charter flights! Some going far away across the pond to the tropics and sunshine of the Caribbean and others heading the snowy Alps for skiing! A few new visitors since I last went filming at Gatwick as well, like the Garuda Indonesia 777! Monarch were using both of their A330's from Gatwick and both of them operating to short haul Ski destinations in France or Switzerland. Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 comes into land at Gatwick airport, with the wing undercarriage stuck up and a hydraulic fault. Latest Gossip. 1: The undercarriage hydraulic ram was fitted upside down causing the fault. 2: The pilot is called Dave William. 3: The daughter of the pilot was onboard. 4: Pilot bounced the aircraft to drop the undercarriage. 5: The WLG door snagged on one of the undercarriage wheels. 6: Nine Tyre safety fuses blew on landing. 7: The passengers weren't allowed to use the toilets for 3hrs, while the pilot carried out maneuvers to dislodge the undercarriage. -

Finally a hint of Spring on the horizon after a rather boring winter season. A bit of morning mist still lingering around during the morning but when the sun came out the temperature was quite pleasant, sitting just below double figures. This is certainly the best time of day to go to Gatwick, the earlier the better. I arrived at about 8:30 and stayed until 11am, best time of day for all the long-haul traffic, all the 747's, 777's, 787's & A330's most of which have come & gone by early afternoon. Hello everyone, SURPRISE! I managed to do some extra spotting while I was in England. But this time, I spotted at the other major London airport, Gatwick. Before our flight home to Canada, I thought I would spend our last hour in this beautiful country filming some planes. As you can see, a massive dark cloud was circling the area, creating massive downpours. As you can hear, this video is being taken from a café in the departure lounge with extraordinary views of the apron. Luckily, we were able to acquire a window seat so I could shoot this video. Gatwick Airport Plane Spotting Part 1 | Runway 08R weekend operations
15/02/15 - With ATC - Plane Spotting at Gatwick Airport Part 1 of 2 featuring RWY08R operations on Sunday 15th February. Lots of movements throughout the day, with many EasyJet, Norwegian and British Airways aircraft. Interesting to hear and see aircraft being cleared to land with such a close margin between aircraft taking off. The Meridiana 737-300 EI-IGR was very eager to take off as seen when he took the bend to line up with 08R very quick! Close from skidding. Also, I have never seen an airline called ParkinGO before. They are an Italian airline seen in this video operating a 737-400 OM-GTB. More to come in Part 2, this time a slightly different perspective of arriving, departing and taxiing aircraft. A beautiful March morning at London's Gatwick Airport, on Tuesday 15th 2016. Finally a hint of Spring on the horizon after a rather boring winter season. A bit of morning mist still lingering around during the morning but when the sun came out the temperature was quite pleasant, sitting just below double figures. This is certainly the best time of day to go to Gatwick, the earlier the better. I arrived at about 8:30 and stayed until 11am, best time of day for all the long-haul traffic, all the 747's, 777's, 787's & A330's most of which have come & gone by early afternoon.
Gatwick is London's hub for Leisure & Low Cost flights, so a good mix of holiday & charter flights as well as the odd national carrier and scheduled flights.

SURPRISE! I managed to do some extra spotting while I was in England. But this time, I spotted at the other major London airport, Gatwick. Before our flight home to Canada, I thought I would spend our last hour in this beautiful country filming some planes. As you can see, a massive dark cloud was circling the area, creating massive downpours. As you can hear, this video is being taken from a café in the departure lounge with extraordinary views of the apron. Luckily, we were able to acquire a window seat so I could shoot this video.

Gatwick already flies direct to more destinations than any other UK airport – building a second runway would not only strengthen our routes to emerging markets, it would also relieve pressure and free-up hub capacity at Heathrow.
The runway debate has been going on for decades now - and time is something that the UK really can’t afford. Every month that our country doesn't have a new runway is another month of missed opportunity for economic growth.
The Airports Commission agrees that Gatwick is able to deliver Britain’s new runway by 2025. We believe this will be much faster than Heathrow could and with minimal disruption compared to any other options. Our plan does not require any additional funding from the taxpayer.
We just don’t face the same geographical challenges associated with Heathrow’s expansion plans, like having to build their runway over the M25; Heathrow’s improvements to transport links have been estimated by the Commission to cost £5.7 billion and much of this could be borne by the taxpayer.
With two world class airports working to their strengths, the sky is the limit. So, enough of the debate, let’s get on with it and make the right decision for Britain’s future.
Getting to and from Gatwick couldn’t be easier, with the quickest direct connections to London and the South East, plus improved terminal facilities and connections.
Other truly global cities like New York, Paris, and Tokyo don’t rely on one mega hub to serve all of their air travel requirements. They spread capacity through a network of airports, giving passengers more options and more opportunities to fly - exactly what Britain needs for the future.
But it’s not just the British economy that stands to benefit from a system of two world class airports. Passengers will also enjoy better service and lower fares as a result of greater competition in the industry.

They are an Italian airline seen in this video operating a 737-400 OM-GTB. More to come in Part 2, this time a slightly different perspective of arriving, departing and taxiing aircraft.

We managed to get this for free with our booking but I believe it’s around £25pp and its worth every penny. We were in there for about 3 hours and time literally flew by ;-) We both had breakfast and enjoyed the teas and coffees. You can take advantage of the bar (at a cost). If you have kids or still a big kid, then there are games consoles, foosball table & a play area for the younger ones. We managed to get a seat right by the window in huge comfy chairs and watched the planes take off & land. It was bliss and we would definitely recommend it.
• What’s Dibbers Row you might be wondering? Well part of my Florida research took me to this amazing website called (www.TheDibb.co.uk) which is free to sign up. The site offers a wealth of knowledge on EVERYTHING Florida. There’s a vast amount of forums to help answer any question you may have, but feel free to ask us here also :-)
Once you've joined you are known as a “Dibber”and fellow Dibbers like to book the seats upstairs in the bubble, rows 79 or 80 which are at the very back as they are regarded as the best seats in economy class. Hence why this is called “Dibbers Row”.

Thanks for watching our extended Travel Day, Part 1 Vlog.
If you’re planning your Florida Holiday we would highly recommend you do the following:
• Create your very own Holiday countdown – It’s a great way of building the excitement and it’s also very satisfying counting the days down. You should add key dates in, such as when you can officially book you’re ADRs, Plane seats etc.
• You should customise your suitcase. As you can see Jenny went to town with the Disney stickers and literally covered her entire case. It was great, loads of people commented on it and there was definitely no mistaken our luggage when it arrived in Florida. It adds a bit of fun and more importantly less likelihood of someone else mistakenly picking up your luggage. Ribbons are great too along with personalised luggage tags. We also recommend getting TSA locks. That way customs don’t have to break your lock to access your case.
• If you can stay onsite at the Airport. We only live around an hour from Gatwick but that’s more than enough for us to warrant staying onsite at the Hilton Hotel. We love staying at the airport as it takes the stress out of getting to there the following day. I wouldn’t want to miss my flight because of a traffic jam. If you’re flying with Virgin you can drop your main baggage off at “Twilight "check in. We did this and it was great not having to drag our big cases about. We then were able to explore the terminal and of course have some proper food at none other than Giraffe!!! The food was excellent & not unreasonably priced either. It had that “I’m going on holiday” vibe that we just crave and the cocktails were awesome. See this all adds to reasons to stay onsite. The Hilton Hotel was “alright” it was not the best hotel but was definitely not the worst. It was basic but absolutely perfect for what we needed. The room had recently been renovated which was nice and the bed was humongous. We chose the Hilton Hotel for its location and as you can see, it was only a few minutes’ walk, through the tunnel and straight into South Side Terminal.
