Minecraft: Time-Lapsed - Part 1
Yes, I play Minecraft. Can you stop sending me messages about it now? :) The reason I haven't posted a video already is because plenty of other casters have already done fantastic tutorials, and I don't think a full Let's Play is going to be that interesting. It's just a little too slow and repetitive for commentary to be particularly interesting: Yup, I'm digging rocks. More rocks. Found iron! Okay, digging it. Now digging more rocks. That being said, I thought that some time-lapsed gameplay might be fun. This was my first time experimenting with this and the end result isn't ideal, but it's not bad. What I did is set Fraps to record 1 frame per second, and then in Virtual Dub I changed the frame rate to get the desired speed, which I found to be around 6-8x normal. Unfortunately, while the play speed is good, the result is very choppy. If I do this again, I will record at 4 frames per second and then set the framerate to 24 frames per second. The play speed will be the same, but the film will be much, much smoother. Right now I just have two parts, but I will probably do at least one more because now that I have my raw materials I want to build something awesome.
