Shame is, variously, an affect, emotion, cognition, state, or condition. The roots of the word shame are thought to derive from an older word meaning "to cover"; as such, covering oneself, literally or figuratively, is a natural expression of shame.
Nineteenth century scientist Charles Darwin, in his book The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals, described shame affect as consisting of blushing, confusion of mind, downward cast eyes, slack posture, and lowered head, and he noted observations of shame affect in human populations worldwide. He also noted the sense of warmth or heat (associated with the vasodilation of the face and skin) occurring in intense shame.
A "sense of shame" is the consciousness or awareness of shame as a state or condition. Such shame cognition may occur as a result of the experience of shame affect or, more generally, in any situation of embarrassment, dishonor, disgrace, inadequacy, humiliation, or chagrin.
A condition or state of shame may also be assigned externally, by others, regardless of one's own experience or awareness. "To shame" generally means to actively assign or communicate a state of shame to another. Behaviors designed to "uncover" or "expose" others are sometimes used for this purpose, as are utterances like "Shame!" or "Shame on you!"
Robert Peter "Robbie" Williams (born 13 February 1974) is an English singer-songwriter, vocal coach and occasional actor. He is a member of the pop group Take That.
Williams rose to fame in the band's first run in the early- to mid-1990s. After many disagreements with the management and certain group members, Williams left the group in 1995 to launch his solo career. On 15 July 2010, it was announced he had rejoined Take That and that the group intended to release a new album in November 2010 which became the second fastest-selling album of all-time in UK chart history and the fastest-selling record of the century.
Williams has sold over 70 million records worldwide, which ranks him among the best-selling music artists worldwide. He is the best-selling British solo artist in the United Kingdom and the best selling non-Latino artist in Latin America. Six of his albums are among the top 100 biggest-selling albums in the United Kingdom. He has also been honoured with seventeen BRIT Awards—more than any other artist—and seven ECHO Awards. In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame after being voted as the "Greatest Artist of the 1990s."

In the dead
Blackened blindness
Wheels turn in circles
Help me now holy mother
In the backyard of the church
They worship nightly
Crucify the angels
Of our salvation
Forever and ever
You may run and hide
The mirror's a strange
Wrapping mouths with
The danger tonight
Oh feel the shame
(Feel the shame)
I'm not ashamed
(Feel the shame)
[Solo]
Mother terror bless
This five legged suckling
Out of the valley rides his
Surprises help me
Deep in the forest
Can you hear the trees fall?
As they the angels
Sever all relations
Forever and ever
You may run and hide
The mirror's a strange
Wrapping mouths with
The danger tonight
Oh feel the shame
(Feel the shame)
I'm not ashamed
(Feel the shame)
Shame on you!
[Solo]
Forever and ever
You may run and hide
The mirror's a strange
Wrapping mouths with
The danger tonight
(Tonight)
Oh feel the shame
(Feel the shame)
I'm not ashamed
[Solo]
I'm not ashamed
Yeah
Feel the shame
Yeah
Shame on you
