Zahra Clare Baker (November 16, 1999 - September 24, 2010) was born in Wagga Wagga, Australia was reported missing on October 9, 2010. Only 10 years old at the time of her death, her dismembered remains were found in November 2010. Because of the crime's gruesome nature and the series of events leading up to her death, Zahra's murder received worldwide media coverage. In September 2011, the victim's stepmother, Elisa Baker, plead guilty to murdering Zahra, and was sentenced to eighteen years in prison. She was subsequently given an additional 10 years in 2013 for drug related charges.
Elisa Baker is trying to appeal her conviction as of March 2016.

Susan Smith is best known for her murder of her two sons in order to carry on a relationship with a man.
Susan Smith was born September 26, 1971 in Union, South Carolina. Smith's childhood was quite painful, following her parents' divorce, her father committed suicide. On October 25, 1994, Smith claimed to have been carjacked by an African-American man, with her boys in the car. She later confessed to drowning them and was sentenced to life.
Murderer. Born Susan Leigh Vaughan on September 26, 1971 in Union, South Carolina. Susan Smith had a troubled upbringing; her parents?? relationship was often violent and soon after their divorce, her father committed suicide. Her mother quickly remarried a man who sexually abused Susan.
On October 25, 1994, Smith contacted the police saying she had been carjacked by an African-American man who fled with her two young sons in the car. After she made emotional pleas on television for the safe return of her children, the incident gained media attention and sympathy from around the world. However, nine days later, Smith admitted that she had pushed her car into nearby John D. Long Lake, drowning her sons, 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alexander, who were strapped into their car seats inside.
Contempt for Smith was overwhelming, not only because of the racial tension ignited for the false accusation of a black man, but because her alleged motive was to get rid of her children in order to carry on a relationship with a wealthy man who wasn??t interested in a woman with sons.
During her trial, Smith??s stepfather, Republican Party and Christian Coalition leader Beverly Russell, testified that he had sexually molested Susan when she was a teenager and again in the months leading up to her drowning the boys. She was spared the death penalty and sentenced to life in prison. Susan Smith is serving her sentence at Leath Correctional Institution in South Carolina and will be eligible for parole in 2024, after serving a minimum of thirty years.

One was the killing on 12 February 1993 of the almost three-year-old boy James Bulger by two ten-year-old boys in Bootle, England, UK. He was beaten and stoned before his unconscious body was left on train tracks to give the impression a train had hit him. Also, in 1968 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England there was the trial of 10-year-old Mary Bell. She was convicted of manslaughter due to diminished responsibility in the deaths of toddlers Martin Brown and Brian Howe. She was released in 1980 at the age of 23. In 1998, 8 -year-old Madelyn Clifton was killed by 14-year-old Josh Phillips.

Susan Smith
Susan Leigh Vaughan Smith (born September 26, 1971) is an American convict who was sentenced to life in prison for filicide. Born in Union, South Carolina, she is a former student of the University of South Carolina. On July 22, 1995, she was convicted of the drowning deaths of her two sons, 3-year-old Michael Daniel Smith and 14-month-old Alexander Tyler Smith.
The case gained worldwide attention shortly after it developed, due to her false claim that a black man carjacked her and kidnapped her two boys. Her defense attorneys, David Bruck and Judy Clarke, presented expert testimony that she suffered from mental health issues that impaired her judgment when she committed the crimes.
According to the South Carolina Department of Corrections, Smith will be eligible for parole on November 4, 2024, after serving a minimum of thirty years. She is incarcerated at South Carolina's Leath Correctional Institution, near Greenwood.
The case
On October 25, 1994, Smith reported to police that her vehicle had been carjacked by a black man who drove away with her sons still in the car. For nine days, she made dramatic pleas on national television for the rescue and return of them. However, following an intensive investigation and a nationwide search, on November 3, 1994, she confessed to letting her 1990 Mazda Protegé roll into nearby John D. Long Lake, drowning the children inside. Her motivation was reportedly to be able to have a relationship with a local wealthy man, even though the latter had no intention of forming a family.

Susan Smith is best known for her murder of her two sons in order to carry on a relationship with a man. Susan Smith was born September 26, 1971 in Union, South Carolina. On October 25, 1994, Smith claimed to have been carjacked by an African-American man, with her boys in the car. She later confessed to drowning them and was sentenced to life. Murderer. Born Susan Leigh Vaughan on September 26, 1971 in Union, South Carolina. Susan Smith had a troubled upbringing; her parents?? relationship was often violent and soon after their divorce, her father committed suicide. Her mother quickly remarried a man who sexually abused Susan. On October 25, 1994, Smith contacted the police saying she had been carjacked by an African-American man who fled with her two young sons in the car. After she made emotional pleas on television for the safe return of her children, the incident gained media attention and sympathy from around the world. However, nine days later, Smith admitted that she had pushed her car into nearby John D. Long Lake, drowning her sons, 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alexander, who were strapped into their car seats inside. Contempt for Smith was overwhelming, not only because of the racial tension ignited for the false accusation of a black man, but because her alleged motive was to get rid of her children in order to carry on a relationship with a wealthy man who wasn??t interested in a woman with sons. During her trial, Smith??s stepfather, Republican Party and Christian Coalition leader Beverly Russell, testified that he had sexually molested Susan when she was a teenager and again in the months leading up to her drowning the boys. She was spared the death penalty and sentenced to life in prison. Susan Smith is serving her sentence at Leath Correctional Institution in South Carolina and will be eligible for parole in 2024, after serving a minimum of thirty years. -

Zahra Clare Baker (November 16, 1999 - September 24, 2010) was born in Wagga Wagga, Australia was reported missing on October 9, 2010. Only 10 years old at the time of her death, her dismembered remains were found in November 2010. Because of the crime's gruesome nature and the series of events leading up to her death, Zahra's murder received worldwide media coverage. In September 2011, the victim's stepmother, Elisa Baker, plead guilty to murdering Zahra, and was sentenced to eighteen years in prison. She was subsequently given an additional 10 years in 2013 for drug related charges.
Elisa Baker is trying to appeal her conviction as of March 2016.

Zahra Clare Baker (November 16, 1999 - September 24, 2010) was born in Wagga Wagga, Australia was reported missing on October 9, 2010. Only 10 years old at the time of her death, her dismembered remains were found in November 2010. Because of the crime's gruesome nature and the series of events leading up to her death, Zahra's murder received worldwide media coverage. In September 2011, the victim's stepmother, Elisa Baker, plead guilty to murdering Zahra, and was sentenced to eighteen years in prison. She was subsequently given an additional 10 years in 2013 for drug related charges.
Elisa Baker is trying to appeal her conviction as of March 2016.

Susan Smith was born September 26, 1971 in Union, South Carolina. Smith's childhood was quite painful, following her parents' divorce, her father committed suicide. On October 25, 1994, Smith claimed to have been carjacked by an African-American man, with her boys in the car. She later confessed to drowning them and was sentenced to life.
Murderer. Born Susan Leigh Vaughan on September 26, 1971 in Union, South Carolina. Susan Smith had a troubled upbringing; her parents?? relationship was often violent and soon after their divorce, her father committed suicide. Her mother quickly remarried a man who sexually abused Susan.
On October 25, 1994, Smith contacted the police saying she had been carjacked by an African-American man who fled with her two young sons in the car. After she made emotional pleas on television for the safe return of her children, the incident gained media attention and sympathy from around the world. However, nine days later, Smith admitted that she had pushed her car into nearby John D. Long Lake, drowning her sons, 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alexander, who were strapped into their car seats inside.
Contempt for Smith was overwhelming, not only because of the racial tension ignited for the false accusation of a black man, but because her alleged motive was to get rid of her children in order to carry on a relationship with a wealthy man who wasn??t interested in a woman with sons.
During her trial, Smith??s stepfather, Republican Party and Christian Coalition leader Beverly Russell, testified that he had sexually molested Susan when she was a teenager and again in the months leading up to her drowning the boys. She was spared the death penalty and sentenced to life in prison. Susan Smith is serving her sentence at Leath Correctional Institution in South Carolina and will be eligible for parole in 2024, after serving a minimum of thirty years.

Susan Smith was born September 26, 1971 in Union, South Carolina. Smith's childhood was quite painful, following her parents' divorce, her father committed suicide. On October 25, 1994, Smith claimed to have been carjacked by an African-American man, with her boys in the car. She later confessed to drowning them and was sentenced to life.
Murderer. Born Susan Leigh Vaughan on September 26, 1971 in Union, South Carolina. Susan Smith had a troubled upbringing; her parents?? relationship was often violent and soon after their divorce, her father committed suicide. Her mother quickly remarried a man who sexually abused Susan.
On October 25, 1994, Smith contacted the police saying she had been carjacked by an African-American man who fled with her two young sons in the car. After she made emotional pleas on television for the safe return of her children, the incident gained media attention and sympathy from around the world. However, nine days later, Smith admitted that she had pushed her car into nearby John D. Long Lake, drowning her sons, 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alexander, who were strapped into their car seats inside.
Contempt for Smith was overwhelming, not only because of the racial tension ignited for the false accusation of a black man, but because her alleged motive was to get rid of her children in order to carry on a relationship with a wealthy man who wasn??t interested in a woman with sons.
During her trial, Smith??s stepfather, Republican Party and Christian Coalition leader Beverly Russell, testified that he had sexually molested Susan when she was a teenager and again in the months leading up to her drowning the boys. She was spared the death penalty and sentenced to life in prison. Susan Smith is serving her sentence at Leath Correctional Institution in South Carolina and will be eligible for parole in 2024, after serving a minimum of thirty years.
