The Yenisei (Russian: Енисе́й, Yenisey, Mongolian: Gorlog), also Romanized Yenisey, Enisei, Jenisej, is the largest river system flowing to the Arctic Ocean. It is the central of the three great Siberian rivers that flow into the Arctic Ocean (the other two being the Ob and the Lena). Rising in Mongolia, it follows a northerly course to the Yenisei Gulf in the Kara Sea, draining a large part of central Siberia, the longest stream following the Yenisei-Angara-Selenga-Ider river system.
The maximum depth of the Yenisei is 24 metres (80 ft) and the average depth is 14 metres (45 ft). The depth of river outflow is 32 metres (106 ft) and inflow is 31 metres (101 ft).
The river flows through Khakassia, and the city of Krasnoyarsk.
Its tributaries include the Angara, Nizhnyaya Tunguska, and Tuba rivers.
The 320-kilometre (200 mi), partly navigable Upper Angara River feeds into the northern end of Lake Baikal from the Buryat Republic but the largest inflow is from the Selenga which forms a delta on the south-eastern side.

Siberian River Routes were the main ways of communication in the Russian Siberia before the 1730s, when roads began to be built. The rivers also were of primary importance in the process of Russian exploration and colonization of vast Siberian territories.Since the three great Siberian rivers, Ob River, Yenisei River and Lena River all flow into the Arctic Ocean, the problem was to find parts or branches of these rivers that flow approximately east-west and find short portages between them.Since Siberia is relatively flat, portages were usually short. ---Image-Copyright-and-Permission--- About the author(s): Kmusser License: Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 (CC BY-SA 3.0) Author(s): Kmusser (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Kmusser) ---Image-Copyright-and-Permission--- ...

Measuring a river’s exact length can be a tricky business and as a result the length measurements of many rivers are only approximations. In fact, there has even been some disagreement over the years as to whether the Amazon or the Nile is the world’s longest river. These disparities are usually due to differences of opinion on where the mouth and source of the river are actually located, but for our list we will try to go with what the majority of scientists agree upon. Having said that we bring you the 10 longest rivers in the world. 10. Amur River The Amur, or Heilong Jiang, is the world’s tenth longest river, forming the border between the Russian Far East and Northeastern China (Inner Manchuria). 9.
