The weapons of the future are alive...
It’s the year 2030 and man’s worst nightmares have become an oppressive reality. Ultra violet rays have punched through the ozone layer and parched the earth, dooming it to eternal summer. And Big Brother has come to life in the form of UNICOM, a multi national corporation that has taken control following a computer induced economic holocaust and various governments defaulting on their national debts.
A group of dissenters, the Independent Liberty Union, has surfaced to fight UNICOMS’s autocracy. One such dissenter is Lathan Hooks (RAPLH WAITE), who together with his granddaughter Arren (MEGAN WARD), runs a TV station in the sand-blown desert. They’ve set up shop in an old junkyard and are using abandoned primitive technology to run the show, in a world where all computers and robots have been banned.
Lathan fears the worst when Tyson Keen (PAUL GANUS), a UNICOM employee, arrives unexpectedly at the station. Sure enough, later that night, Lathan plunges to his death in what appears to be an accident. Arren believes that Lathan has been murdered and she discovers that the murder is a synthoid - a human-like robot - that is programmed to kill all who pose a threat to UNICOM.
The only thing that can stop the virtually indestructible Synthoid is a dormant 80’ robot that Arren brings back to life for a desperate showdown with the relentless killer. But even after one Synthoid has been destroyed, there may be others...

Paul Edward Ganus (born July 28, 1961) is an American actor.
Ganus has guest starred on numerous television series, including Murder, She Wrote, Dallas, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Las Vegas, Alias, Cold Case, House M.D., Veronica Mars, Family Guy, The O.C., CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Nip/Tuck and Heroes.
He has also had small roles in such feature films as Lethal Weapon 3, The Mask of Zorro and Rumor Has It....
Ganus appeared in a recurring role of "Andy Johnson" on the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful.
He also voiced several NPCs in the popular video game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Mackenzie y sus amigos, estudiantes de instituto de estética emo, van a comprobar la veracidad de esta afirmación en sus carnes cuando empiecen a ser destripados a hachazos por Horny el payaso, la mascota de la cadena de hamburgueserías Hella Burger. Tras celebrar una fiesta desmadrada con abundancia de alcohol y drogas, los chicos descubren que una amenaza se cierne sobre ellos gracias a la ouija. The weapons of the future are alive...
It’s the year 2030 and man’s worst nightmares have become an oppressive reality. Ultra violet rays have punched through the ozone layer and parched the earth, dooming it to eternal summer. And Big Brother has come to life in the form of UNICOM, a multi national corporation that has taken control following a computer induced economic holocaust and various governments defaulting on their national debts.
A group of dissenters, the Independent Liberty Union, has surfaced to fight UNICOMS’s autocracy. One such dissenter is Lathan Hooks (RAPLH WAITE), who together with his granddaughter Arren (MEGAN WARD), runs a TV station in the sand-blown desert. They’ve set up shop in an old junkyard and are using abandoned primitive technology to run the show, in a world where all computers and robots have been banned.
Lathan fears the worst when Tyson Keen (PAUL GANUS), a UNICOM employee, arrives unexpectedly at the station. Sure enough, later that night, Lathan plunges to his death in what appears to be an accident. Arren believes that Lathan has been murdered and she discovers that the murder is a synthoid - a human-like robot - that is programmed to kill all who pose a threat to UNICOM.
The only thing that can stop the virtually indestructible Synthoid is a dormant 80’ robot that Arren brings back to life for a desperate showdown with the relentless killer. But even after one Synthoid has been destroyed, there may be others...

This was a second round Varsity Quiz Bowl match between Clifton L. Ganus High School and Bonnabel High School (both in the New Orleans area). The VQB tournament started in September, 1980 with 64 teams and through single elimination wound down to a single champion by late May 1981. The half-hour TV show was produced by and aired on WYES Channel 12 (New Orleans, LA) and this particular season was sponsored by Pan American Life Insurance Company. My mother had apparently videotaped several of these games, which our team used for practice, and thankfully they were never erased... and given the fact that these tapes are over 30 years old when I found them - it is amazing that ANY of the picture portion survived. My mother had apparently videotaped several of these games, which our team used for practice, and thankfully they were never erased... and given the fact that these tapes are over 30 years old when I found them - it is amazing that ANY of the picture portion survived.
I've got a bunch of these, maybe 30-40 games in all - and I will very gladly post each and every single one of them. However since it takes two hours (background task) to upload each 28-minute program to YouTube, it will be slow going.
My hope is that some of you who played the game from 1979-1981 will find these here on YouTube and enjoy a nostalgic charge from the past.
One last note: to the teams who are on the top: I'm sorry. You came out green in the video. I've played with the tracking, cleaned the tape heads (it's a brand new VCR), and I just can't figure out how to fix that. The tapes ARE old (31-32 years old when I did this project) so there may be nothing I can do to fix that. Suggestions are always welcome.

This was a second round Varsity Quiz Bowl match between Clifton L. Ganus High School and Bonnabel High School (both in the New Orleans area). The VQB tournament started in September, 1980 with 64 teams and through single elimination wound down to a single champion by late May 1981. -SINOPSIS: Los payasos y la comida rápida son recientes iconos del horror en el imaginario colectivo. Mackenzie y sus amigos, estudiantes de instituto de estética emo, van a comprobar la veracidad de esta afirmación en sus carnes cuando empiecen a ser destripados a hachazos por Horny el payaso, la mascota de la cadena de hamburgueserías Hella Burger. Tras celebrar una fiesta desmadrada con abundancia de alcohol y drogas, los chicos descubren que una amenaza se cierne sobre ellos gracias a la ouija. A medida que se van sucediendo los homicidios, Mackenzie descubre que sólo ella puede destapar las claves para detener al criminal.

The weapons of the future are alive...
It’s the year 2030 and man’s worst nightmares have become an oppressive reality. Ultra violet rays have punched through the ozone layer and parched the earth, dooming it to eternal summer. And Big Brother has come to life in the form of UNICOM, a multi national corporation that has taken control following a computer induced economic holocaust and various governments defaulting on their national debts.
A group of dissenters, the Independent Liberty Union, has surfaced to fight UNICOMS’s autocracy. One such dissenter is Lathan Hooks (RAPLH WAITE), who together with his granddaughter Arren (MEGAN WARD), runs a TV station in the sand-blown desert. They’ve set up shop in an old junkyard and are using abandoned primitive technology to run the show, in a world where all computers and robots have been banned.
Lathan fears the worst when Tyson Keen (PAUL GANUS), a UNICOM employee, arrives unexpectedly at the station. Sure enough, later that night, Lathan plunges to his death in what appears to be an accident. Arren believes that Lathan has been murdered and she discovers that the murder is a synthoid - a human-like robot - that is programmed to kill all who pose a threat to UNICOM.
The only thing that can stop the virtually indestructible Synthoid is a dormant 80’ robot that Arren brings back to life for a desperate showdown with the relentless killer. But even after one Synthoid has been destroyed, there may be others...
