The Curse of P.T. Continues: Allison Road Cancelled

The Curse of P.T. Continues: Allison Road Cancelled

The horror gaming community is probably used to disappointment now, as the cancellation of P.T. aka Silent Hills put a dagger in one of the most surprising demos of the last 10 years. Due t0 Konami’s ruthless destruction of anything related to the franchise, like removing it from the Playstation store, some of the only hopes for fans lied in the inspired pieces that came from the cancellation. And one such piece was the well anticipated Allison Road, a first person survival horror game by United Kingdom’s Lilith Ltd. And while the game went to Kickstarter, it actually got a publisher in Team 17 eventually, and things were looking good for some good old fashioned survival horror. Well sadly, much like the jocks and sexually active teens in horror movies, the game has seemingly been killed off before it got to show the world its true potential, as it was announced on twitter by the official account for Allison Road.

It is unclear at this time what exactly has had the project cancelled, although it is indicated that an official statement will come in the next few days. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of hints about the cancellation either, as the low frequency of tweets from the twitter account along with a lack of updates on the website as well. There’s no mention on the Team 17 social accounts either, and there has been kickstarted projects in the past under the Team 17 publisher label that have had issues. Weappy’s and This is the Police had issues with Team 17 that led to them going different ways, and while there’s no indication that this is the case here, with no more information to go on about what caused the cancellation it is worth noting the history.

As we learn more about the cancellation, we’ll continue to update the article and to give full context on why the promising project has been cancelled.

Quick Take

Look, I want the old survival horror type of games back. And it’s sad that these new projects can’t seem to get off the ground. While it’s unclear on exactly WHAT has caused this cancellation, not a delay, but a cancellation, but I’m assuming it’s something at the core of the project. Based on the context of the tweet, it almost sounds like the decision was forced upon the creators in question. Hopefully nothing tragic has happened, and hopefully Konami hasn’t gotten involved in any way, as it would be like them to ruin a project like this. And given the fact that this first statement has come out, it sounds like they need something official.

About Shaun Joy

I've been an avid gamer since the young age of 6, and have taken a journey to start writing and producing video content to share my love of video games with the world. I have a degree in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and had worked in the transit industry working on Ticket Vending Machines, and fareboxes in mass transit. When it became clear that the kind of work that I wanted to do was eluding me despite always being considered an "up and coming star", I left my job and decided to start creating video content. I started a youtube channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLXbNv80pHXWgqlf9i3oikQ, to start sharing my thoughts on new games, as well as producing content in a variety of ways. I believe that every game has something that we can take out of it, even games that are negative experiences overall, and I want to highlight getting the most value out of games. I want to highlight deals to bring games that deserve the spotlight to light, and help gamers save as much money as possible, mostly to spend that money on more games =P. I love discussing video games, and will always be open to talking about them (granted, if I am working on something at the time, it may be a timely response.)
