It's time for "DTB's Arbitrary and Misleading Stat of the Night", this time brought to you by the boneheads who do the Charlotte Hornets broadcasts: There are only 2 players who, on the season, have recorded 80 or more three-pointers as well as 50 or more blocked shots. The names of those players? Kevin Durant and Marvin Williams! Just goes to show that Marvin is definitely as valuable or even more valuable than so-called MVP candidate Kevin Durant. God dammit. Though a horrible and hackneyed stat, it was more relevant than usual tonight, as W-Marv channeled his inner Durant and put his team on his back for a little while there in the fourth quarter. To repeat: Marvin Williams, known draft disappointment, PUT his TEAM on his BACK. Has that ever happened before? All clips property of th...

Last season, by this time in the year, I was getting pissed at how many Marvin "W-Marv" Williams highlights I was having to do. The deal with W-Marv is that he doesn't have any fans anymore. It seemed like he was scoring 22 every game, and every time he did I was forced to make a vid for it, a vid that no one would watch. FORCED. You think I had a choice in the matter? Think again, bucko. Happily, W-Marv heard my complaints and while he's still averaging about the same amount of points per game, he's more of a "score 11 every single game" guy than a "score 24 one game and 3 the next" guy. Great! The vid count for him this year is way, way down, but my subscriber count has only gone up. Correlation equals causation is what my professors told me, so I'm gonna guess that the lack of W-Marv a...

I didn't watch this game live, so when I saw Marvin Williams take a hard fall after a dunk attempt on which he got fouled (shades of Bogut vs. Stoudemire), I knew he was going to get up and score ten more points. I knew that, no matter how bad that fall looked (it looked pretty bad), W-Marv would eventually allow himself to be helped to his feet and everything would be okay. I can only image what was going through the heads of the players and the fans when they watched W-Marv hit the hardwood and make a wet splat like an oversized black water balloon. "Is he ded?" "Dat dude totally ded." "Heem sleepy." "I just watched a death on live TV." Those were probably just some of the thoughts running through the collective Charlotte and Boston fan hiveminds. Maybe he IS dead. Did anybody check hi...
Some guy with too much time on his hands was able to tell us that Marvin Williams has more years of NBA experience than the entire starting lineup that the Suns fielded against his Hornets. This is W-Marv's twelfth year in the league, and the math checks out: Ulis (1) + Chriss (1) + Warren (3) + Booker (2) + Len (4) = eleven total years of experience for the Suns. I wish I could come up with cool stats like that. It would make my video descriptions so much better. Hold on a second! I just came up with a new fancy statistical anomaly that will surprise and delight you! Not only is W-Marv an old man compared to the young Suns, but W-Marv's BQ (bust quotient) of .82 is also higher than the combined BQs of the Suns starting lineup: Ulis (.00) + Chriss (.00) + Warren (.00) + Booker (.00) + Len...
We have arrived at a strange milestone in highlight-making: No one wants to watch Marvin Williams highlights, and no one wants to make Marvin Williams highlights, yet Marvin Williams highlights keep magically appearing on YouTube. I mean, I'M not making them. I don't know who is. Some sort of bucket-compiling poltergeist? In any case, they keep showing up on my channel, so I have to keep writing descriptions for them. In the process of writing said descriptions, the videos gain one view, and at one view they stay forever, because no one gives a hoot about Marvin Williams. Charlotte fans may appreciate his contributions to the team, but would they ever voluntarily seek out his highlights? No. And no one else will either. Because it's Marvin Williams. Hamidou Diallo is one of the most explosive players in the class of 2017 but he showed NBA scouts in attendance he was more than that this weekend at the 10th Annual National HS Hoops Festival in Hyattsville, MD. In front of a packed crowd night 1, Diallo played a complete game finishing 13-19 from the field and scoring 29 points in a win over PA-based Westtown School. Diallo was operating from all cylinders finishing tough drives, throwing down highlight-reel dunks, and even showing off a consistent jumper. Overall, it was the best overall performance witnessed by us from Diallo in a weekend where his Putnam Science team went 2-0. Check out his highlights from the 2-day event and stay tuned for more news from the National HS Hoops Festival! -------------------------------- Follow Us On So...
