Am Morgen des 24. April 2014 fuhren wir mit dem Bus zur Pyramide von Meidum und anschließend wieder zurück in Richtung Kairo zu den Pyramiden von Giseh, immer begleitet von Polizeieskorten, die sich um die Sicherheit der Touristen offenbar große Sorgen machten.
In der größten Pyramide, der des Cheops, besuchten wir die Grabkammer. Es war eine anspruchsvolle Klettertour steil nach oben, bis wir den Sarkophag des Pharaos erreichten. Und der war natürlich leer ... .
Wir besichtigten auch die kleineren Königinnenpyramiden und die Sphinx und fuhren dann wieder zurück in die Megalopolis Kairo, mit annähernd 20 Millionen Einwohnern die größte Stadt des afrikanischen Kontinents. Vorbei am rußgeschwärzten Hauptquartiers Mubaraks gelangten wir zu den Moscheen Al-Azhar und Hussein und bekamen in einem Café auf dem Husain-Platz leckeren Tee serviert. Weiter ging’s zum Basar Chan el-Chalili, auf dem alles angeboten wird, das man sich vorstellen kann!
Höhepunkt des Tages waren schließlich am Tahrir-Platz das ägyptische Nationalmuseum mit seinen unermesslichen Schätzen, on the top die Totenmaske des Pharaos Tut-Ankh-Amuns.
Nach dem Museumsbesuch kehrten wir wieder zurück zum Nil. Dort startete am frühen Morgen des 25. April unser Phoenix-Schiff, die „Club Vision“, auf dessen Oberdeck wir bei schönstem Sommerwetter an der Bar oder im Pool sitzend die geniale Nillandschaft genossen. Am Nachmittag langten wir in Beni Suef an, wo wir übernachteten.

The gas turbines were transferred onto heavy-duty trucks for the last leg of their journey over land to Beni Suef.

Beni Suef, (Egyptian Arabic: بنى سويف Baniswēf, IPA: [bænisˈweːf], Coptic: Ⲡⲁⲛⲓⲥⲱϥ Panisōf) is the capital city of the Beni Suef Governorate in Egypt.
Beni Suef is an important agricultural center, which grew from a small village at the turn of the century and now hosts a population of over 200,000. It was famous for its linen manufacturing in the Middle Ages, and continues to be heavily involved in cotton-spinning and carpet-making. It is also known for its alabaster, quarried in the nearby hills. Beni Suef is located about 115 km (71 mi) south of Cairo.[citation needed] The Meidum Pyramid and Fayum Oasis are nearby. Beni Suef is known for its large mansions, including the Ismail Mansion, owned by General Ahmed Mamdouh Ismail. Beni Suef University and the private Al Nahda University are located in Beni Suef.

Am Morgen des 24. April 2014 fuhren wir mit dem Bus zur Pyramide von Meidum und anschließend wieder zurück in Richtung Kairo zu den Pyramiden von Giseh, immer b...
Am Morgen des 24. April 2014 fuhren wir mit dem Bus zur Pyramide von Meidum und anschließend wieder zurück in Richtung Kairo zu den Pyramiden von Giseh, immer begleitet von Polizeieskorten, die sich um die Sicherheit der Touristen offenbar große Sorgen machten.
In der größten Pyramide, der des Cheops, besuchten wir die Grabkammer. Es war eine anspruchsvolle Klettertour steil nach oben, bis wir den Sarkophag des Pharaos erreichten. Und der war natürlich leer ... .
Wir besichtigten auch die kleineren Königinnenpyramiden und die Sphinx und fuhren dann wieder zurück in die Megalopolis Kairo, mit annähernd 20 Millionen Einwohnern die größte Stadt des afrikanischen Kontinents. Vorbei am rußgeschwärzten Hauptquartiers Mubaraks gelangten wir zu den Moscheen Al-Azhar und Hussein und bekamen in einem Café auf dem Husain-Platz leckeren Tee serviert. Weiter ging’s zum Basar Chan el-Chalili, auf dem alles angeboten wird, das man sich vorstellen kann!
Höhepunkt des Tages waren schließlich am Tahrir-Platz das ägyptische Nationalmuseum mit seinen unermesslichen Schätzen, on the top die Totenmaske des Pharaos Tut-Ankh-Amuns.
Nach dem Museumsbesuch kehrten wir wieder zurück zum Nil. Dort startete am frühen Morgen des 25. April unser Phoenix-Schiff, die „Club Vision“, auf dessen Oberdeck wir bei schönstem Sommerwetter an der Bar oder im Pool sitzend die geniale Nillandschaft genossen. Am Nachmittag langten wir in Beni Suef an, wo wir übernachteten.

Essa é a estação de trem em Cairo e na ocasião estávamos esperando o trem para Aswan em uma viagem de 12 horas de onde começaríamos um cruzeiro pelo rio Nilo. Essa estação tem um clima meio obscuro, não é freqüentado por muitos turistas, logo a população local ficava nos encarando. Ficamos meio desconfortáveis ali e a presença de nosso guia ajudou bastante. Vimos várias pessoas entrando em qualquer buraco nos trens que passavam, trens lotados com pessoas penduradas nas portas. Essa é a estação de trem em Cairo e na ocasião estávamos esperando o trem para Aswan em uma viagem de 12 horas de onde começaríamos um cruzeiro pelo rio Nilo. Essa estação tem um clima meio obscuro, não é freqüentado por muitos turistas, logo a população local ficava nos encarando.
Ficamos meio desconfortáveis ali e a presença de nosso guia ajudou bastante. Vimos várias pessoas entrando em qualquer buraco nos trens que passavam, trens lotados com pessoas penduradas nas portas. A não ser que você seja um viajante experiente, não recomendamos essa estação a não ser que você vá com um guia.
