Plot: The globe trotting trip that Henry Jones, Jr. sets out on in the early 1900s next takes him and his family to Russia. A few acts of clumsiness puts Indy at odds with his father who is greatly displeased with Indy. Indy runs away into the Russian countryside and wakes in the morning on a haystack. He encounters an odd, cantankerous old man named Leo Tolstoy, who is in full agreement that "hell" is other people. Both are running away to seek a simpler life. They cross the countryside, encountering colorful Gypsies and avoiding fierce Imperial Cossack troops. The hardships of the journey make Indy homesick, but he won't soon forget his journey with the stubborn old man. Indy's next destination is Greece, where his mother Anna realizes that father and son need to spend more time together. The two bristle at each other's company as they explore the sites of ancient Greece, but Henry finally reaches past Indy's impudence and stubbornness when the topic turns to philosophy and the teachings of Aristotle. A series of misadventures lead them to an isolated monastery perched high on the peak of a mountain. While studying in the library, Indy meets Nikos Kazantzakis, the writer who would some day write Zorba the Greek. Lessons on causality come in handy on the harrowing trip in a tiny cage reeled up a thousand-foot mountainside.

Regarded by many as being the principal work of Nikos Kazantzakis, The Odyssey: A Modern Sequel, with its in excess of thirty three thousand lines, is perhaps more admired than actually read. And yet, to engage in its pages is to undertake a magnificent journey into the human spirit and to find a wisdom that stuns with its beauty. In this lecture, Howard F Dossor, the author of Colin Wilson: The Man and His Mind and a regular lecturer at Melbourne's Existentialist Society, opens a gateway into this truly monumental work.
In this video I present some parts that i have selected from N. Kazantzakis' work "Askitiki" (transl. spiritual excercises). "Askitiki" was composed in 1923. The book was translated into English and published in 1960 with the title "The Saviors of God."

This amazing Greek book really impressed me! It was violent, romantic, idealistic and pragmatic at the same time, I highly recommend it! If you are looking for a copy use this link http://www.bookdepository.com/?a_aid=MalinkaReads and I will get a small commission that I will spend on books, of course :)
