Depersonalization disorder (DPD), also known as depersonalization-derealization syndrome, is a mental disorder in which the people have persistent or recurrent feelings of depersonalization and/or derealization. Symptoms can be classified as either depersonalization or derealization. Depersonalization is described as feeling disconnected or estranged from one's body, thoughts, or emotions. Individuals experiencing depersonalization may report feeling as if they are in a dream or are watching themselves in a movie. They may feel like an outside observer of their own thoughts or body, and often report feeling a loss of control over their thoughts or actions. In some cases, individuals may be unable to accept their reflection as their own, or they may have out-of-body experiences. While depersonalization is a sense of detachment from one's self, derealization is described as detachment from one's surroundings. Individuals experiencing derealization may report perceiving the world around them as foggy, dreamlike/surreal, or visually distorted. In addition to these depersonalization-derealization disorder symptoms, the inner turmoil created by the disorder can result in depression, self-harm, low self-esteem, anxiety attacks, panic attacks, phobias, etc. It can also cause a variety of physical symptoms, including chest pain, blurry vision, nausea, and the sensation of pins and needles in one's arms or legs.

MY STORY My name is Noah and on May 18 2011, I had a rare reaction to a vaccine called VIVITROL and consequently spiraled into a major, agitated, suicidal depression with depersonalization. I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who along with many siblings and friends had to watch me 24/7 as I was so suicidal. I was eventually hospitalized. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different SSRI's SNRI's Tric...
First I think it's important to understand that difference between depersonalization and derealization. Depersonalization is when we feel we have lost touch with ourselves. This could feel like we are watching ourselves do something or act in a certain way and we don't have control over it at all. Derealization is when we lose touch with our surroundings. Could feel foggy or sort of dream like as if we are in a dream and cannot wake ourselves up. This can be very difficult to properly diagnose. Therefore it is important that you see a professional who understand dissociative disorders to ensure you are properly diagnosed and treated. We link this disorder and other forms of dissociative disorders to trauma. I believe this to is because in order for us to survive and keep living after th...

Depersonalization disorder can be very scary and hard to diagnose. In this video, I try and outline some of the key differences between DP/DR and other symptoms like "Brain Fog" or "Feeling Out of It". Having experienced depersonalization for 2 years, I feel my experience can help others figure out if it may be an issue for them. I also discuss a few simple things you can do to help decide if you might have Depersonalization. To learn how to implement these principles and truly change your life, check out my website, articles, youtube videos, and my ten hour program the Total Integration Method: http://depersonalizationrecovery.com/the-program/ These are the principles I teach, though of course I can't cover the specifics of each in this video or how to implement them here. Most people on the internet only talk about a few of them, but it's particularly important to implement all of them because they work synergistically together to get you to a full recovery. This is called an integrative psychotherapeutic approach, which is key for getting over chronic depersonalization and derealization.

This video is about my experience with and partial recovery from depersonalization and derealization disorders and a review of anxiety and depression supplements .
I recently stumbled on a video which led me to MANY videos of mostly young people suffering what is being medically and socially labelled Depersonaization or Derealization. As I listened to these poor kids describing it...it started ringing bells for me. From my spiritual journey and research over the years, from the online medical description and most of all MY OWN EXPERIENCE...I started to feel that this was another case of modern medicine slapping a label on something they do not understand and handing out drugs. It seems for the most part, these sufferers are just helping one another WAIT IT OUT or distract themselves. I intend to do alot more research and talk to these people...but it is my belief that YOU NEED NOT SUFFER...what your experiencing is an AWAKENING. A natural process tha...
