Theft
In common usage, theft is the taking of another person's property without that person's permission or consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it. The word is also used as an informal shorthand term for some crimes against property, such as burglary, embezzlement, larceny, looting, robbery, shoplifting, library theft, and fraud (i.e., obtaining money under false pretenses). In some jurisdictions, theft is considered to be synonymous with larceny; in others, theft has replaced larceny. Someone who carries out an act of or makes a career of theft is known as a thief. The act of theft is known by terms such as stealing, thieving, and filching.
Theft is the name of a statutory offence in California, Canada, England and Wales, Hong Kong,Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and Victoria.

Thief (Apple II video game)
Thief is a 1982 computer game created by Bob Flanagan and published by Datamost.
Summary
The game puts the player in control of a thief that must make his way through simple mazes in search of items to steal. Each level is populated by stocky, possibly robotic guards that converge on the player, and which the player must either shoot or evade.
It shares some similarities to the 1980s arcade video game Berzerk.

Texas hotel clerk armed with handgun stops rifle-carrying robber
On Jan. 16, 2023, a hotel clerk armed with a handgun managed to scare away a robber who was armed with a rifle at a hotel off the Katy Freeway last month, according to the Houston Police Department. It happened around 7 a.m. at a hotel off the Katy Freeway near Highway 6, HPD officials said. Police said the suspect approached the counter carrying a rifle and demanded money from the cash drawer. As the robber climbed over the counter, the clerk pulled out her own handgun, scaring the suspect and causing him to run away, according to HPD. Police described the suspect as being about 20 to 25 years old, about 6 feet, 2 inches to 6 feet, 4 inches tall and 150 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans and white shoes. A short presentation of Thief, developed by Bob Flanagan and published by Datamost for the Apple II in 1982. Thief is an action game in the style of Berzerk. The player finds himself in a maze full of robots and has to find his way through four levels of play. It's viewed from a top-down perspective and the player can move and shoot in eight directions. The objective is simply to destroy as many robots as possible to get a high score. There are three ways to kill the robots, shoot them with the laser gun, wait until an unearthly blob appears, or trick the robots into destroying themselves. "Stimulating Simulations" - Diamond Thief By: C. William Engel Personal Software © 1978 [Computer] Apple II Emulator: MAME 0.226 There is a more visual version of this with the APF game "Thief at the Art Museum". I hadn't realized that game was crafted from this simple, but effective BASIC game. Basically you're looking at a tic-tac-toe like grid of 9 rooms, with a diamond on display in room 5 in the middle. By asking the 5 suspects (#1-5) where they were at a specific hour (12a-9a?) you have to deduce who the thief was. It's rather tricky, but you feel accomplished when you actually figure it out! Missing the question will either end your game, or if you get the suspect but not the time you are docked a total of 10 questions. So get it right first time for a good score. I got 75...

Came also out for: Amiga Apple IIgs DOS Macintosh MSX NES PC-88 PC-98 TRS-80 CoCo A platform shooter from Japan, Thexder offers many levels and diverse enemies that gradually increase in difficulty. You pilot a Battletech-style robot capable of switching from a 'mech into a jet at any time. Your weapon auto-aims, but uses up a fixed amount of rechargeable energy; if you run out of this energy, you'll have to wait a few seconds before you can fire again. Your 'mech also contains a shield that can be activated to protect you from harm, but this lasts for a few seconds and uses up some of your life energy. This sequel begins in Skara Brae - recently reduced to ruins by Tarjan, the Mad God of game one. A series of seven quests must be solved before you can track him down and do him in. Missions involve a wider variety of puzzle types due to a new command that permits you to use objects and artifacts. Other improvements include auto-mapping, new character classes, magic spells and dungeon levels (84 of them!) that vary in size and shape. You also get to visit more exotic lands than in the previous installments, for each quest takes place in its own universe: a forest world, a frozen wasteland, and one that's linked via time warps to different times on earth, from ancient Rome to the Nazis' Berlin. A platform shooter from Japan, Thexder offers many levels and diverse enemies that gradually increase in difficulty. You pilot a Battletech-style robot capable of switching from a 'mech into a jet at any time. Your weapon auto-aims, but uses up a fixed amount of rechargeable energy; if you run out of this energy, you'll have to wait a few seconds before you can fire again. Your 'mech also contains a shield that can be activated to protect you from harm, but this lasts for a few seconds and uses up some of your life energy.
What I think:
A robot, that transforms into a jet? Sign me up!
Yeah, really fun game and it is actually one of the best Apple II games...if it wouldn't be for the fact that you transform back into a robot, everytime you hit a wall when you're a jet.
That is seriously annoying...

Sorry that the footages of level 2 and 3 aren't so good...was my first time that I've played them.

This sequel begins in Skara Brae - recently reduced to ruins by Tarjan, the Mad God of game one. A series of seven quests must be solved before you can track him down and do him in. Missions involve a wider variety of puzzle types due to a new command that permits you to use objects and artifacts. Other improvements include auto-mapping, new character classes, magic spells and dungeon levels (84 of them!) that vary in size and shape. You also get to visit more exotic lands than in the previous installments, for each quest takes place in its own universe: a forest world, a frozen wasteland, and one that's linked via time warps to different times on earth, from ancient Rome to the Nazis' Berlin. Characters from the previous games may be imported into this one.
Definitely interesting and it rocks (just like the previous BT games) :D
Notes:
a) If you watch this video to the end you might ask yourself "Why didn't he go into the dungeon." Well, I wanted to go first into it, but then I turned back because I thought my party isn't ready for it, so I wanted to train a little bit...obviously, I was right with my thought, lol.
b) This .rom gave me some problems to get it to work on AppleWin, but I somehow managed it after some tries...
Here's a little tutorial on how to make BTIII work on AppleWin:
1.) Do everything it says first, until you come to the camp where the game "freezes", then change your BTIII character disk, with the Bard's Tale II character disk, afterwards make your party and leave the camp.
2.) Before you now make one move in the wilderness, change the BTII character disk with the BTIII character disk, or else this game will freeze one time and then you can NOT play it anymore, even if you change the disk.
So yeah, change disk before making a move.

On Jan. 16, 2023, a hotel clerk armed with a handgun managed to scare away a robber who was armed with a rifle at a hotel off the Katy Freeway last month, according to the Houston Police Department.
It happened around 7 a.m. at a hotel off the Katy Freeway near Highway 6, HPD officials said.
Police said the suspect approached the counter carrying a rifle and demanded money from the cash drawer. As the robber climbed over the counter, the clerk pulled out her own handgun, scaring the suspect and causing him to run away, according to HPD.
Police described the suspect as being about 20 to 25 years old, about 6 feet, 2 inches to 6 feet, 4 inches tall and 150 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans and white shoes.

Theft
In common usage, theft is the taking of another person's property without that person's permission or consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it. The word is also used as an informal shorthand term for some crimes against property, such as burglary, embezzlement, larceny, looting, robbery, shoplifting, library theft, and fraud (i.e., obtaining money under false pretenses). In some jurisdictions, theft is considered to be synonymous with larceny; in others, theft has replaced larceny. Someone who carries out an act of or makes a career of theft is known as a thief. The act of theft is known by terms such as stealing, thieving, and filching.
Theft is the name of a statutory offence in California, Canada, England and Wales, Hong Kong,Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and Victoria.

The actus reus of theft is usually defined as an unauthorized taking, keeping or using of another's property which must be accompanied by a mens rea of dishonesty and/or the intent to permanently deprive the owner or the person with rightful possession of that property or its use.

A short presentation of Thief, developed by Bob Flanagan and published by Datamost for the Apple II in 1982.
Thief is an action game in the style of Berzerk. The player finds himself in a maze full of robots and has to find his way through four levels of play. It's viewed from a top-down perspective and the player can move and shoot in eight directions. The objective is simply to destroy as many robots as possible to get a high score. There are three ways to kill the robots, shoot them with the laser gun, wait until an unearthly blob appears, or trick the robots into destroying themselves. The player has three lives and loses one when getting shot or touching a robot or the walls of the maze. Reaching 2000 points leads to an extra life.

There is a more visual version of this with the APF game "Thief at the Art Museum". I hadn't realized that game was crafted from this simple, but effective BASIC game. Basically you're looking at a tic-tac-toe like grid of 9 rooms, with a diamond on display in room 5 in the middle. By asking the 5 suspects (#1-5) where they were at a specific hour (12a-9a?) you have to deduce who the thief was.
It's rather tricky, but you feel accomplished when you actually figure it out! Missing the question will either end your game, or if you get the suspect but not the time you are docked a total of 10 questions. So get it right first time for a good score. I got 75pts

A platform shooter from Japan, Thexder offers many levels and diverse enemies that gradually increase in difficulty. You pilot a Battletech-style robot capable of switching from a 'mech into a jet at any time. Your weapon auto-aims, but uses up a fixed amount of rechargeable energy; if you run out of this energy, you'll have to wait a few seconds before you can fire again. Your 'mech also contains a shield that can be activated to protect you from harm, but this lasts for a few seconds and uses up some of your life energy.
What I think:
A robot, that transforms into a jet? Sign me up!
Yeah, really fun game and it is actually one of the best Apple II games...if it wouldn't be for the fact that you transform back into a robot, everytime you hit a wall when you're a jet.
That is seriously annoying...

This sequel begins in Skara Brae - recently reduced to ruins by Tarjan, the Mad God of game one. A series of seven quests must be solved before you can track him down and do him in. Missions involve a wider variety of puzzle types due to a new command that permits you to use objects and artifacts. Other improvements include auto-mapping, new character classes, magic spells and dungeon levels (84 of them!) that vary in size and shape. You also get to visit more exotic lands than in the previous installments, for each quest takes place in its own universe: a forest world, a frozen wasteland, and one that's linked via time warps to different times on earth, from ancient Rome to the Nazis' Berlin. Characters from the previous games may be imported into this one.
Definitely interesting and it rocks (just like the previous BT games) :D
Notes:
a) If you watch this video to the end you might ask yourself "Why didn't he go into the dungeon." Well, I wanted to go first into it, but then I turned back because I thought my party isn't ready for it, so I wanted to train a little bit...obviously, I was right with my thought, lol.
b) This .rom gave me some problems to get it to work on AppleWin, but I somehow managed it after some tries...
Here's a little tutorial on how to make BTIII work on AppleWin:
1.) Do everything it says first, until you come to the camp where the game "freezes", then change your BTIII character disk, with the Bard's Tale II character disk, afterwards make your party and leave the camp.
2.) Before you now make one move in the wilderness, change the BTII character disk with the BTIII character disk, or else this game will freeze one time and then you can NOT play it anymore, even if you change the disk.
So yeah, change disk before making a move.
