"Hickory Dickory Dock" nursery rhyme for children
Story:
This story is a battle between a group of mice and a clock. A group of mice live is a house. They inspect a clock which was newly brought into the house. While they inspect, they get frightened by the sound made by the clock every hour. They misinterpret the clock for a beast and try to fight with the clock. Everybody including the king mouse fail in their attempt to stop the sound and win over the clock. So they finally decide to live with it.

I won this clock at auction recently here in Scotland. It's my second, but have sold my 1st to make way for this one. This one's case is in good condition and retains its original patina.
The movement has been overhauled recently. I dare say the dial and hands could be restored later as they show signs of wear and fading.
One intriguing thing about this clock is that, even though it can be silenced, it does not silence the strike and only the hammers are arrested from hitting the gongs for the chime, so you can still hear the 'whirrrrr' at each 1/4 hour.
The 2 chimes are of course the Elite Whittington and the well-known Westminster.

Clock
A clock is an instrument to indicate, keep, and co-ordinate time. The word clock is derived ultimately (via Dutch, Northern French, and Medieval Latin) from the Celtic words clagan and clocca meaning "bell". A silent instrument missing such a striking mechanism has traditionally been known as a timepiece. In general usage today a "clock" refers to any device for measuring and displaying the time. Watches and other timepieces that can be carried on one's person are often distinguished from clocks.
The clock is one of the oldest human inventions, meeting the need to consistently measure intervals of time shorter than the natural units: the day, the lunar month, and the year. Devices operating on several physical processes have been used over the millennia. A sundial shows the time by displaying the position of a shadow on a flat surface. There are a range of duration timers, a well-known example being the hourglass. Water clocks, along with the sundials, are possibly the oldest time-measuring instruments. A major advance occurred in Europe around 1300 with the invention of the escapement, which allowed construction of the first mechanical clocks, which used oscillating timekeepers like balance wheels. Spring-driven clocks appeared during the 15th century. During the 15th and 16th centuries, clockmaking flourished. The next development in accuracy occurred after 1656 with the invention of the pendulum clock. A major stimulus to improving the accuracy and reliability of clocks was the importance of precise time-keeping for navigation. The electric clock was patented in 1840. The development of electronics in the 20th century led to clocks with no clockwork parts at all.

Alarm clock
An alarm clock (or sometimes just an alarm) is a clock that is designed to make a sound, or some other signal, at a specific time. The primary utility of these clocks is to awaken people from their night's sleep or short naps; they are sometimes used for other reminders as well. Most use sound; some use light or vibration. Some have sensors to identify when a person is in a light stage of sleep, in order to avoid waking someone who is deeply asleep, which causes tiredness, even if the person has had adequate sleep. To stop the sound or light, a button or handle on the clock is pressed; most clocks automatically stop the alarm if left unattended long enough. A classic analog alarm clock has an extra hand or inset dial that is used to specify the time at which to activate the alarm. Alarm clocks are also found on mobile phones and watches.
Traditional mechanical alarm clocks have one or two bells that ring by means of a mainspring that powers a gear to propel a hammer back and forth between the two bells or between the interior sides of a single bell. In some models, the back encasement of the clock itself acts as the bell. In an electric bell-style alarm clock, the bell is rung by an electromagnetic circuit and armature that turns the circuit on and off repeatedly.

Play School (Australian TV series)
Play School is an Australian Logie Hall of Fame-winning educational television show for children produced by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It is the longest-running children's show in Australia, and the second-longest-running children's show worldwide. An estimated 80% of pre-school children under six watch the programme at least once a week. It is screened four times each weekday on ABC2's ABC4 Kids, at 6.00 am, 9.30 am, 12.30 pm and 3.30 pm (from 7 July 2014) and twice daily each weekend at 9.30 am and 3.30 pm.
History
Play School began production on 18 July 1966 based on a British programme of the same name. The first episode began transmitting that day, as the programme went out live. It has been produced continuously from this time. It has also launched the careers of several Australian actors and television presenters. Diane Dorgan and Don Spencer are the only regular presenters to appear on both the British and Australian versions, although Lorraine Bayly appeared in September 1972 as a guest storyteller on BBC's Play School. It was admitted to the Logies Hall of Fame on its 40th anniversary in 2006, in recognition of the strong influence the show has had in at least three generations of Australian children. Play School was the third show to enter the Hall of Fame in its own right, after Four Corners (1992) and Neighbours (2005), it is also the first children's show inducted in the Logie Hall of Fame.

Simple Songs
Simple Songs is the eighth album by Steve Bell. The album won the Juno Award for Best Gospel Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2001.
Simple Songs also won the award for Outstanding Christian Recording at the 2001 Prairie Music Awards. Steve Bell and Dave Zeglinski shared the Outstanding Producer award for the album.

I won this clock at auction recently here in Scotland. It's my second, but have sold my 1st to make way for this one. This one's case is in good condition and retains its original patina. The movement has been overhauled recently. I dare say the dial and hands could be restored later as they show signs of wear and fading. One intriguing thing about this clock is that, even though it can be silenced, it does not silence the strike and only the hammers are arrested from hitting the gongs for the chime, so you can still hear the 'whirrrrr' at each 1/4 hour. The 2 chimes are of course the Elite Whittington and the well-known Westminster.

I won this clock at auction recently here in Scotland. It's my second, but have sold my 1st to make way for this one. This one's case is in good condition and...
I won this clock at auction recently here in Scotland. It's my second, but have sold my 1st to make way for this one. This one's case is in good condition and retains its original patina.
The movement has been overhauled recently. I dare say the dial and hands could be restored later as they show signs of wear and fading.
One intriguing thing about this clock is that, even though it can be silenced, it does not silence the strike and only the hammers are arrested from hitting the gongs for the chime, so you can still hear the 'whirrrrr' at each 1/4 hour.
The 2 chimes are of course the Elite Whittington and the well-known Westminster.

There’s really no other noise that’s going to wake you up better than the sound of a police siren going off and nothing else makes you want to get up and run as fast as possible. Some might consider it as a natural instinct to wake up and get the heck outta there as fast as possible, which is what you need to in the morning anyways.
9. Firebell Alarm Clock
Firefighters certainly face some challenges while on the job. However saving people from burning houses or a cat in a tree seems rather easy compared to waking up in the morning and any experienced firefighter will tell you this! I won this clock at auction recently here in Scotland. It's my second, but have sold my 1st to make way for this one. This one's case is in good condition and retains its original patina.
The movement has been overhauled recently. I dare say the dial and hands could be restored later as they show signs of wear and fading.
One intriguing thing about this clock is that, even though it can be silenced, it does not silence the strike and only the hammers are arrested from hitting the gongs for the chime, so you can still hear the 'whirrrrr' at each 1/4 hour.
The 2 chimes are of course the Elite Whittington and the well-known Westminster.

Already released back in 1982, the 80286 processor was not widely chosen and almost not used in home pc systems at all. High costs and rarity in software that actually uses the advantages of the 286 like memory management or the protected mode prevented an early breakthrough.
In the late 80s and early 90s, the 286 finally got some atention. The 386 and first 486 processors were already introduced to the world. But at this time, the 286 also got more power than on it's release (clock speeds now reaching from 10 to 20 MHz). It became an affordable alternative to the new expensive high end 386 and early 486 systems. I would dare to say that until 1992, there was rarely a DOS game that essentially needed a 386 processor.
And that was also exactly the same period when IBM compatible PCs became popular for gamers. Games for IBM MS-DOS and compatible PCs finally made use of sound cards, midi devices and most importantly the 286's & later 386's core microarchitecture.
While working on this project, rebuilding the computer of my childhood, I began to understand, why the IBM compatible machines took over and put an end to the home computer-era. Somehow sad but true.
This machine was the low-end solution of the Highscreen Kompakt Series III.
Not sure if they were ever sold outside of germany.
The Vobis Highscreen Kompakt Series III consisted of the following models:
AT 286, AT 386SX, AT 386-25, AT 386-33 CACHE and a Laptop called "Microspace"

Hier zeige ich euch, was der alte 286er von Highscreen noch so alles drauf hat.
Er ist nicht exakt der Gleiche, der damals von Vobis angeboten wurde, hat aber wie das Original, ein Motherboard mit Headland Chipsatz und einen AMD 286 Prozessor mit 16 MHz.
Im Vergleich zu meinem Nachbau war das Original sehr spartanisch ausgestattet.
