Sunil Philip Narine (born 26 May 1988 in Trinidad), is a West Indian cricketer who played in the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. He has since appeared in first-class cricket for Trinidad and Tobago. He was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for US$700,000 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in February 2012, having had a "base price" of just $50,000. Several franchises, including the Mumbai Indians, have publicly expressed their disappointment at having failed to sign Narine. He came to the attention of IPL franchises and Indian cricket fans by virtue of his performances during an India-West Indies one-day series in 2011, won 4-1 by India.
He had a brilliant bowling effort for Kolkata Knight Riders, taking 5 wickets for 19 runs in a IPL match in 2012 & had the best bowling economy in IPL 2012. .
He won the Man of the Tournament award in the 2012 Indian Premier League for picking up 24 wickets at an average of 13.50 and an economy rate of 5.47, which was the best in the league.
