Plot: Sedona Venegas is a young slender and beautiful teacher. In the not distant past she was brutally attacked by a serial rapist in the community. Plot: How tenuous is man's hold on civilization when survival becomes an issue? When the lights go out and stay out for several days, suburbanites Matthew and Annie learn the hard way that man is "by nature" a predatory creature. Matthew's long-time friend, Joe, happens by on the second day and a rivalry between the two friends simmers as Annie cares for her sick baby. When rumors of looting spread through the neighborhood, the two men buy a rifle for protection but Annie throws it in the pool. Later, that same night, Joe hears a prowler downstairs and awakens Matthew. They chase the stranger from the house and out into the street where a neighbor shoots him to death. No longer safe in their own home, they decide to drive to Annie's parents some 500 miles away. Before they reach their destination, more trouble comes their way when they stop to siphon gas from an abandoned car and discover the driver in the back seat... Is this what is meant by "man's inhumanity to man?"

Plot: The Bar Association disbars attorney Tyler Cradon when it appears he was implicated in the murder of a prominent vice crusader. Cradon, not wishing to be without an income,is impressed by the way Joan Carroll handled a small-town murder, poses as a real estate agent and offers to get her into a law firm of a friend of his. Placed in the office of Roberts, running a front for Cradon, Joan is taught every trick of the trade. With her cases all prepared for her, she goes from one courtroom victory to another, soon becoming the darling of the underworld and the despair of all law-enforcing authorities. Her performances impress the young assistant district attorney, Bradley Kent, and they begin a budding romance in spite of the fact that Kent criticizes her connections. Plot: Perkins likes to fish, and his wife scolds about his lazy habits. She hides her savings in an old stocking, which she conceals under the mattress of the bed. A tramp enters the open window and steals the hoard. She imagines her husband has taken the money and is very angry. A policeman has seen the tramp and gives chase. Hard pressed, he throws the stocking into the river. While the policeman continues his pursuit, Perkins sits down on the sand to fish. The fish are seen nibbling around the hook by clever photography. Perkins thinks he has a bite and pulls up his line, finding the stocking attached to the hook. He throws it into his basket, and goes on fishing. Finally be gets another bite and hauls up an alligator. Thoroughly frightened, he rushes away and plunges into the midst of a score of alligators, and he has a narrow escape from the snapping jaws. The cop and the tramp have an exciting chase and fight, and the strong arm of the law drags the hapless wretch back to the Perkins home. Mrs. Perkins sees the stocking in the fish basket and brings it out. The tramp convinces them of his innocence, and Perkins is indignant to think his wife should suspect him of taking her money, but she finally cajoles him into forgiveness.
