Indira Gandhi International Airport
Indira Gandhi International Airport (IATA: DEL, ICAO: VIDP) serves as the primary civilian aviation hub for the National Capital Region of Delhi, India. The airport, spread over an area of 5,106 acres (2,066 ha), is situated in Palam, 15 km (9.3 mi) south-west of the New Delhi railway station and 16 km (9.9 mi) from New Delhi city centre. Named after Indira Gandhi, a former Prime Minister of India, it is the busiest airport in the country in terms of passenger traffic since 2009. It is the second busiest airport in the country in terms of cargo traffic after Mumbai. With the commencement of operations at Terminal 3 in 2010, it became India's and South Asia's largest aviation hub, with a current capacity of handling more than 40 million passengers. The planned expansion program will increase the airport's capacity to handle 100 million passengers by 2030. In 2014, the airport handled a total of 39.752 million passengers, registering a 8.4% growth in traffic over the previous year and became the 12th busiest airports in Asia. As of 2015, the airport currently is the 26th busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic.

IGI T3 is spread over 20 acres with lower floor being the arrival and the upper floor being the departure area. This terminal has 168 check-in counters, 78 aerobridges at 48 contact stands, 54 parking bays, 95 immigration counters, 15 X-ray screening areas, for less waiting times, duty-free shops etc. IGI Airport T3 is a very well maintained, neat and clean airport. The The Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi was inaugurated on 3rd July 2010. IGI T3 is spread over 20 acres with lower floor being the arrival and the upper floor being the departure area. This terminal has 168 check-in counters, 78 aerobridges at 48 contact stands, 54 parking bays, 95 immigration counters, 15 X-ray screening areas, for less waiting times, duty-free shops etc. IGI Airport T3 is a very well maintained, neat and clean airport. Delhi Airport is the busiest one in India in terms of passenger traffic and cargo.

We start as I land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India. I landed at 2AM in the morning after a long 19-hour journey from my home of New Zealand. I've arrived at the Delhi International Airport countless times, same with Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
The first step after you exit the plane is to head to Immigration where they'll check you have the correct VISA. Some travellers to India can get a VISA on Arrival and others will need to get their VISA in advance from their country of residence. Then I go through Duty-Free Shopping, pick up my bags, then finally through Indian Customs.
After this, I show you how to get an Indian SIM card in India at the airport. Then I show you how to get to your hotel safely from the airport with Uber or the Pre-Paid Taxi Stand outside the airport.
While we travel throughout the New Delhi International Airport, I give you the history behind the famous name, Indira Gandhi, that the airport is named after.

The airport, spread over an area of 5,106 acres (2,066 ha),[4] is situated in Palam, Delhi, 15 km (9.3 mi) south-west of the New Delhi Railway Station and 16 km (9.9 mi) from New Delhi city centre.[5][6] Named after Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, it is the busiest airport of India in terms of passenger traffic since 2009.[7] It is also the busiest airport in the country in terms of cargo traffic, overtaking Mumbai during late 2015. As of now, it is the 17th busiest airport in the world and 6th busiest airport in Asia by passenger traffic handling nearly 70 million passengers.[8] It is the world's busiest airport for Airbus A320 flights.[9] The under construction expansion program will increase the airport's capacity to handle 100 million passengers by 2030.[10]

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IATA: DEL, ICAO: VIDP) serves as the primary civilian aviation hub for the National Capital Region of Delhi, India. The airport, spread over an area of 5,106 acres (2,066 ha), is situated in Palam, 15 km (9.3 mi) south-west of the New Delhi railway station and 16 km (9.9 mi) from New Delhi city centre. Named after Indira Gandhi, a former Prime Minister of India, it is the busiest airport in the country in terms of passenger traffic since 2009. It is the second busiest airport in the country in terms of cargo traffic after Mumbai. With the commencement of operations at Terminal 3 in 2010, it became India's and South Asia's largest aviation hub, with a current capacity of handling more than 40 million passengers. The planned expansion program will increase the airport's capacity to handle 100 million passengers by 2030. In 2014, the airport handled a total of 39.752 million passengers, registering a 8.4% growth in traffic over the previous year and became the 12th busiest airports in Asia. As of 2015, the airport currently is the 26th busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic.
