The Gun (1974 film)

The Gun is a made for television film, of the suspense-thriller type, which ABC-TV transmitted as a Movie Of The Week on November 13, 1974. It starred David Huffman, Ron Thompson, Richard Bright, Pepe Serna, Lee de Broux, and Stephen Elliott, and was written directly for television by Jay Benson, Richard Levinson, and William Link and directed by John Badham, then a working director of television productions. Levinson and Link were also the producers of the film.

Plot

A series of interweaving stories tell the journey of a handgun—specifically, a long-barreled revolver with a blue-steel finish, whose caliber is not specified—as it passes from one owner to another. Some of these owners are lawless; others are law-abiding and, indeed, law enforcers. But in all the time it passes between its various owners, it is never actually fired (aside from the one test-firing it underwent at the factory) and is never shown actually to discharge any ammunition.

Its last scene, however, depicts a child who finds the gun while it is fully loaded and has none of its safeties engaged. The film shock-cuts to black just then, but it is implied that the child has accidentally caused it to discharge a round of ammunition—and been seriously injured, or killed, by the bullet thus fired from it.

Gun (video game)

Gun is a Revisionist Western-themed action-adventure video game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox 360. The game was released in North America on November 17, 2005, and during mid-to-late-November in Europe. Since October 13, 2006, the game has been available to buy on Steam. The PlayStation Portable version, released on October 10, 2006 under the title Gun: Showdown, features new side-missions, a multiplayer mode, and other additions that were not available in the console versions.

During its first month, the game sold 225,000 copies across the four console systems for which it was initially released. The game had sold over 1.4 million units in the United States as of October 2008. It was well received by game critics and won numerous awards, including GameSpy's Xbox 360 Action Game of the Year.

Gameplay

Gun features an open world environment, including side-missions that add to the story. Players control the protagonist, Colton White, from a third-person perspective. While traveling from town to town, bandit attacks are frequent and players must either escape or defend themselves.

Solo (Norwegian soft drink)

Solo is an orange-flavoured soft drink, owned by the Norwegian companies Ringnes, Oskar Sylte, Aass, and Mack. The recipe was originally Spanish, and brought to the Tønsberg Bryggeri by Torleif Gulliksrud in 1934. Solo quickly became Norway's most popular soft drink, and until the 1960s was bigger than Coca-Cola in Norway. In 1999, Pepsi passed Solo in market share, leaving Solo as third most popular.

As of 2005, Solo has a seven percent share of the Norwegian soft drink market. Variants of the original Solo include Solo Super (less sugar), Solo Sunset and Solrik (juice).

Publication history

Solo first appeared in Web of Spider-Man #19 (October 1986). He was created by writer David Michelinie and artist Marc Silvestri. Solo has had his own self-titled limited series.

Fictional character biography

Born in the USA but having renounced his citizenship to any country, Solo works as a counter-terrorism operative, and makes limited appearances in the Marvel Comics universe. He is known for his catchphrase, "While Solo lives, terror dies!"

In his first appearance, Solo teleported inside a foreign embassy in West Germany and killed all the terrorists inside. He next foiled ULTIMATUM's plot to destroy the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. He also shot ULTIMATUM terrorists who were trying to destroy Ellis Island, and then joined forces with Spider-Man to capture ULTIMATUM's commanding officer. Outside Barcelona, Spain, Solo assassinated Toro Mendoza, leader of the Cascan separatists.

Hirth F-36

The Hirth F-36 is a single cylinder, two stroke, carburetted aircraft engine designed for use on ultralight aircraft, especially powered paragliders and very light ultralight trikes. It is noted for its extremely light equipped weight of 28 lb (13 kg) including exhaust system, reduction drive and carburetor.

The F-36 was formerly known as the Solo 210, before the design was purchased by Hirth.

Development

The engine uses free air cooling, single capacitor discharge ignition, with a single integral pump-type carburetor. The cylinder walls are electrochemically coated with Nikasil. Standard starting is recoil start with electric start optional. A quadruple V belt reduction drive system is an option with ratios of 1.8:1, 2.0:1 or 2.5:1.

The engine runs on a 50:1 pre-mix of unleaded 93 octane auto fuel and oil and produces 15 hp (11 kW) at 6000 rpm.

RuneScape

RuneScape is a fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Jagex, released originally in January 2001. RuneScape is a graphical browser game implemented on the client-side in Java, and incorporates 3D rendering. The game has had over 200 million accounts created and is recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world's largest free MMORPG and the most-updated game.

RuneScape takes place in the world of Gielinor, a medieval fantasy realm divided into different kingdoms, regions, and cities. Players can travel throughout Gielinor via a number of methods including on foot, magical spells, or charter ships. Each region offers different types of monsters, resources, and quests to challenge players. The game's fictional universe has also been explored through a tie-in video game on another of its maker's websites, FunOrb, Armies of Gielinor, and the novels Betrayal at Falador,Return to Canifis, and Legacy of Blood.

Players are represented in the game with customisable avatars. RuneScape does not follow a linear storyline; rather, players set their own goals and objectives. Players can choose to fight non-player character (NPC) monsters, complete quests, or increase their experience in the available skills. Players interact with each other through trading, chatting, or by participating in mini-games and activities, some of which are competitive or combative in nature, while others require cooperative or collaborative play.
