Almost every trek I do and post is on the map, this one included . PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME where, when, how. If you want to do it, I suggest a book called 100 hikes of the San Gabriel's by John W. Robinson or the new issue may be by David Harris. The location and routes are listed but one should research this one, both for interesting things to see and watch out for and to know the spring, if flowing, is subject to both mercury and traces of arsenic from the days when the mine was in use. It is a hard one and you will need to carry in ALL your water. I have enjoyed decades of trekking alone in the San Gabriel's and San Bernardino mountain ranges and found many secluded places. I have years of experience going solo and know how to deal with the majority of things that come up and how to locate. I know it is not recommended to trek alone, nor do I recommend it. If you are going it alone, leave detailed notes with someone who knows the range, an exit time, over due time, route, etc. Learn the basics before taking on too much.
