A polygon is formed by a closed polygonal line and the space inside it. To understand what that means, watch this straight line become a polygonal line as it forms several sides which eventually close. And what do you see? A polygon... Easy, right?
A polygon is made of several elements... The side is each one of the segments that form the polygon... The vertex is the point where two sides meet, a corner... And the angle is the space formed between two sides that meet at a point...
There are many kinds of polygon... So we classify them in different ways. The first classification we can make is if they are regular or irregular polygons.
A polygon is regular if all its sides and angles measure the same as each other. In these images you can see... All the polygons are regular - the sides and the angles are same.
On the other hand, these polygons... are irregular... because their sides and angles are not equal.
Another way to classify polygons is by the number of sides they have...
Polygons with three sides are called triangles.
Those with four sides are called quadrilaterals.
And with five sides they are called... pentagons.
With six sides, hexagons and so on. There are many more!
Now let's find the polygons in these pictures... Look carefully... Can you see any polygons? ... Good!... As you can see, the pyramid, the boat’s sails, these buildings and the panels of this hive where bees make their sweet honey are all polygons....
So let’s remember the important things about polygons.
A polygon is formed by a closed polygonal line and the space inside it.
A polygon has several elements: sides... corners or vertices... and angles.
A polygon is regular... if all its sides are the same length, and angles are equal. And a polygon is irregular if the sides or angles are not equal.

In geometry a polygon (
/ˈpɒlɪɡɒn/) is a flat shape consisting of straight lines that are joined to form a closed chain or circuit.
A polygon is traditionally a plane figure that is bounded by a closed path, composed of a finite sequence of straight line segments (i.e., by a closed polygonal chain). These segments are called its edges or sides, and the points where two edges meet are the polygon's vertices (singular: vertex) or corners. An n-gon is a polygon with n sides. The interior of the polygon is sometimes called its body. A polygon is a 2-dimensional example of the more general polytope in any number of dimensions.
The word "polygon" derives from the Greek πολύς (polús) "much", "many" and γωνία (gōnía) "corner" or "angle". (The word γόνυ gónu, with a short o, is unrelated and means "knee".) Today a polygon is more usually understood in terms of sides.
The basic geometrical notion has been adapted in various ways to suit particular purposes. Mathematicians are often concerned only with the closed polygonal chain and with simple polygons which do not self-intersect, and may define a polygon accordingly. Geometrically two edges meeting at a corner are required to form an angle that is not straight (180°); otherwise, the line segments will be considered parts of a single edge – however mathematically, such corners may sometimes be allowed. In fields relating to computation, the term polygon has taken on a slightly altered meaning derived from the way the shape is stored and manipulated in computer graphics (image generation). Some other generalizations of polygons are described below.

Anthony Frank "Tony" Hawk (born May 12, 1968), nicknamed "The Birdman" is an American professional skateboarder and actor. Hawk gained significant fame for completing the first 900 as well as his licensed video game titles distributed by Activision. He is widely considered one of the most successful and influential pioneers of modern vertical skateboarding.
Raised in San Diego, California, Hawk was described as being "hyperactive" as a child. His parents supported his skateboarding because it served as an outlet for his excessive energy, and as Hawk's skills developed, he became a professional skateboarder at age fourteen. In 1999, he became the first skater to land a 900. In 2002, he created the Boom Boom HuckJam, an extreme sports exhibition and tour which launched in Las Vegas.
Throughout his career, Hawk has made numerous appearances in films and other media, as well as his own series of video games. He has also been involved in various philanthropic activities including his own Tony Hawk Foundation which helps build skateparks in underprivileged areas, and also including collaborations with other athletes in the charity Athletes for Hope.

A polygon is made of several elements... The side is each one of the segments that form the polygon... The vertex is the point where two sides meet, a corner... And the angle is the space formed between two sides that meet at a point...
There are many kinds of polygon... So we classify them in different ways. The first classification we can make is if they are regular or irregular polygons.
A polygon is regular if all its sides and angles measure the same as each other. In these images you can see... All the polygons are regular - the sides and the angles are same.
On the other hand, these polygons... are irregular... because their sides and angles are not equal.
Another way to classify polygons is by the number of sides they have...
Polygons with three sides are called triangles.
Those with four sides are called quadrilaterals.
And with five sides they are called... pentagons.
With six sides, hexagons and so on. There are many more!
Now let's find the polygons in these pictures... Look carefully... Can you see any polygons? ... Good!... As you can see, the pyramid, the boat’s sails, these buildings and the panels of this hive where bees make their sweet honey are all polygons....
