We've all been there. We're wide eyed with excitement having discovered this hobby, ideas racing through our minds of all sorts of adventures. We spend hours and hours crafting our campaigns, putting in every little detail we can think of. Game day approaches. We're nervous but very excited. Its going to be an epic game!
And then...everything falls flat. Nothing goes as we thought it would. The players ignore our story, one has an overpowered and EVIL character, they fight about the rules, and spend half the session talking about what to name their ship. We leave in a frustrated huff. What went wrong?
In this video we go over the top 7 mistakes new gamemasters make, and, most importantly, offer some advice on how you can overcome these shortcomings and turn yourself into a legendary DM.

The first computer game I actually owned for my Amiga 500 almost a lifetime ago -- And I Still love the game. In my opinion Dungeon Master is one of the greatest games ever made.
This movie doesn't solve all of the puzzles in the game as most of them are not required to finish the game. I tried to avoid boring "training" periods, but there are a couple of them -- Sorry about that.

Dungeon Master
In the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) role-playing game, the Dungeon Master (often abbreviated as DM) is the game organizer and participant in charge of creating the details and challenges of a given adventure, while maintaining a realistic continuity of events. In effect, the Dungeon Master controls all aspects of the game, except for the actions of the player characters (PCs), and describes to the players what they see and hear.
The title was invented for the TSR Dungeons & Dragons RPG, and was introduced in the second supplement to the game rules (Blackmoor). To avoid infringement of TSR's trademarks, and to describe referees in role-playing genres other than sword and sorcery, other gaming companies use more generic, terms, like Game Master, Game Operations Director, Judge, Referee or Storyteller, with some using more esoteric titles related to the genre or style of the game, such as Keeper of Arcane Lore, or even completely surreal titles such as Hollyhock God.
Also, in Faiths and Pantheons, the Faerunian Overgod Ao answers to a superior entity, insinuated to be the "Dungeon Master".

This movie doesn't solve all of the puzzles in the game as most of them are not required to finish the game. I tried to avoid boring "training" periods, but there are a couple of them -- Sorry about that.

Dungeon Master II: The Legend of Skullkeep, also released as simply Dungeon Master II: Skullkeep, is the sequel to the dungeon crawler role-playing video game Dungeon Master. Developed by FTL and published by Interplay, it was released in 1993 in Japan and in 1995 in other countries.
Dungeon Master II: The Legend of Skullkeep follows the exploits of Torham Zed and a group of player-chosen companions on their quest to activate the Zo Link, an infernal machine capable of creating a portal leading to a confrontation with the game's antagonist Dragoth and his armies. Like the first game, Dungeon Master II features realtime combat in a grid-based gameplay environment within which the game challenges players with both powerful enemies and fiendish puzzles. Experience points and levels were eschewed in favor of a system where the characters' skills were improved directly via using them. Also brought over from the first game is the spell casting system, which involved learning sequences of runes which represented the form and function of a spell's effect. .

Like the first game, Dungeon Master II features realtime combat in a grid-based gameplay environment within which the game challenges players with both powerful enemies and fiendish puzzles. Experience points and levels were eschewed in favor of a system where the characters' skills were improved directly via using them. Also brought over from the first game is the spell casting system, which involved learning sequences of runes which represented the form and function of a spell's effect. .
