Plot: Jimmy Brown is thirty and single. He has just come home from a failed life in New York City and thinks his life is over. Plot: Slacker Billy Wagstaff leaves his Venice Beach home and travels to Pine Mountain after being accepted into a snowboarding academy. Upon arriving, Billy and his childhood friend, Casey, find themselves in the middle of a local feud between the egotistical mountain owner, Colonel Jaffe, and the misfit locals led by activist J.P. Millhouse and coffee show owner Naomi Bucks. Billy sets his signs on snowboarding, but when he's booted from the academy he teams up with the so-called "poorees" to get even with Colonel Jaffe's group of "richies."

Plot: A honeymooning couple become entangled in a plot to recover plates for counterfeiting US dollars. SHE thinks she's just retired from a government 'dirty jobs' department, but her superiors have other ideas. HE thinks she's a retired travel agent. Set in Spain, there's a constant flow of visual jokes, mainly at the expense of a group of incompetent thieves who are in hot pursuit of the plates. Plot: In August 1914, amidst the public ecstasy surrounding the impending war, Hans Gastl, the seventeen year-old son of a Munich bürger, makes a decision: he will not take part in this war. This resolution signifies a turning point in his life; a farewell to his class and his family. His notions of "transformation" are still nebulous, but are nevertheless linked with a sensible life in a just society. The resolution does not come spontaneously: since he was a child, Gastl, the son of a senior public prosecutor, has rebelled against the decadence and mere appearance of morality in his parent's household. In relating to his schoolmates Feck and Freyschlag, he was constantly torn between admiring their courage and abhorring their evil pranks. He thinks about his friendship with Löwenstein, who is a Jew, and Hartinger, the boy from the working class, and about his tragically ending love for the prostitute Fanny.
