Javagal Srinath (ಜಾವಗಲ್ ಶ್ರೀನಾಥ್) pronunciation (born 31 August 1969) is an Indian former cricketer and current ICC Match Referee. He is considered among India's finest fast bowlers and remains the only Indian fast bowler to have taken more than 300 wickets in One Day Internationals.
He was a frontline fast bowler for the Indian cricket team until his retirement, being the second Indian pace bowler after Kapil Dev to take 200 Test wickets.
Following South Africa's tour to India in late 1996, India traveled to South Africa where speed guns were in operation. That was the only series in Srinath's career where authentic speed gun readings were available before his career-threatening rotator-cuff injury of 1997.
He took 44 wickets in the 1992, 1996, 1999 and 2003 editions of Cricket World Cups. He is the joint highest wicket taker for India across World Cups, the other being Zaheer Khan who took same number of wickets in 2003, 2007 and 2011 editions. He has taken 8 wickets in second innings Kolkata February 1999 test match India vs Pakistan and he took 35 wickets against South Africa in 6 test matches in 1996 – 1997.

South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa, is the southernmost sovereign state in Africa. It is bounded on the south by 2,798 kilometers of coastline of southern Africa stretching along the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans, on the north by the neighbouring countries of Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, and on the east by Mozambique and Swaziland, and surrounding the kingdom of Lesotho. South Africa is the 25th-largest country in the world by land area, and with close to 53 million people, is the world's 24th-most populous nation. It is the southernmost country on the mainland of the Old World or the Eastern Hemisphere.
South Africa is a multiethnic society encompassing a wide variety of cultures, languages, and religions. Its pluralistic makeup is reflected in the constitution's recognition of 11 official languages, which is among the highest number of any country in the world. Two of these languages are of European origin: Afrikaans developed from Dutch and serves as the first language of most white and coloured South Africans; English reflects the legacy of British colonialism, and is commonly used in public and commercial life, though it is fourth-ranked as a spoken first language.

The best Indian fast bowler ever.
The sub-continent no longer produce brilliant pace bowlers like Akram and Srinath, do they? Wasim ripped straight through the Australian middle-order at the MCG on 17th January 1997 in the Carlton & United Series. Simply unplayable. Javagal, meanwhile, had a mere 115 runs to play with as the Indian batsmen struggled at the SCG. Despite his best efforts, his side went down, as expected, in the 1999/00 Series. 24 YEARS OF THE COVERDRIVE - https://youtu.be/PaHPcWWar9I Titan Cup 1996 a must win match for both teams - India vs Australia @ Bangalore. Local boys Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath turn it on for India with a superb match winning partnership when everyone thought the match was all but over at 164/8 chasing 216. The crowd was now holding its breath in anticipation. They sensed something remarkable happening; something which cricket fans of that era were not quite used to. At this point, the cameras panned on to two ladies — mother and grandmother of Anil Kumble — sitting with nervous smiles on their faces in the crowd. With each further run scored, the camera would keep focusing back to the ladies’ reaction; the smiles on their faces were widening with every passing minute. It was superb e...

Javagal Srinath gave a hint about why Sachin Tendulkar's first stint as captain was not very successful. By http://www.cricketcountry.com/ "When he became captain for the first time in 1996 he was very demanding. We could not emulate him. He used to prepare for three hours for a game.
