The term Kodava has two related usages. Firstly, it is the name of the Kodava language and culture followed by a number of communities from Kodagu. Secondly, within the Kodava - speaking communities and region (Kodagu) it describes the dominant Kodava people.
The Kodavas (Kodava, anglicised as Coorgs), are considered a patrilineal ethno-lingual group from the region of Kodagu, (in Karnataka state of southern India), who natively speak the Kodava language, who quite obviously speak an old form of Kannada that any related linguist can recognize. Traditionally they were land-owning agriculturists with martial customs. Kodavas are believed to be Kshatriyas, based on their legendary descent, the rights they held to carry arms from the ancient times and their military traditions. They practice family exogamy and caste endogamy. By religion they consider themselves as being of the Hindu faith, although the Kodavas are a non-Brahminical sect who believe more in reverence towards nature and their ancestors than in the following of the Vedic Hindu rites.
Kodagu also known as Kodava Nadu, is an administrative district in Karnataka, India. It occupies an area of 4,102 square kilometres (1,584 sq mi) in the Western Ghats of southwestern Karnataka. In 2001 its population was 548,561, 13.74% of which resided in the district's urban centres, making it the least populous of the 30 districts in Karnataka. The district is bordered by Dakshina Kannada district to the northwest, Hassan district to the north, Mysore district to the east, Kannur district of Kerala to the southwest, and the Wayanad district of Kerala to the south. Agriculture is the most important factor that upholds the economy of Kodagu and the main crops cultivated in this region are rice and coffee. Coorg is rich in natural resources which included timber and spices. Madikeri (English: Mercara) is the headquarters of Kodagu.
Kodagu is known for its coffee and its people. The dominant group are the indigenous (Kodavas) and other ethnic groups (Arabasha and Kodava subgroups). Kodavas (freehold farmers, rulers and miltiamen), and of late Arabasha (farmers) from Sullia. The chief languages presently spoken in Kodagu are Kodava, Are Bhashe,Kannada, Kasaragod Malayalam, Yerava, Kuruba, Konkani, Urdu, Tulu and English. Kodagu is home to the native speakers of the Kodava language.

Kodava songs
intro:
avias
get away (2x's) drag get aways
verse1:
dont sit up here and play like yall dont know what time it is
grab a towel, bathing suits, lets take it for a spin
life too short, to sit around
timeshares, tropic spas, lets put it down
lets go to the beach, get somthing to eat
break that cycle in your life thats continuous repeat
i want to stand on the shore and enjoy the smell
digging in the sand, finding a seashell
chorus: (4x's)
lets just get a-way
because a whole world awaits
its a sunny day and its time to play
bridge
get away (4x's)
verse2:
yo, now we at the beach, im feeling so good
im doing stuff that i never thought that i could
jumping off a cliff, into blue springs
now i realize the true meaning of things
the world is so big and stress is so small
grab my luggage im bout to have a ball
from mexico to the eastern border
the coastline is beautiful, especially in florida
i just want to have fun and live my life
clap, clap, we party all night
everybody showing love and the place is filled
i can picture myself in sunflower fields
exploring the mysterious like mermaids
better yet we can boat in the everglades
life is one big adventure and im looking for more
after all you never know what life have in store

get away (2x's)
chorus: (4x's)
lets just get a-way
because a whole world awaits
its a sunny day and its time to play
