What is Yakutia?
It is a territory in the extreme North of Asia whose cultural history pushes its boundaries as far West as Central Asia but whose cultural legacy reaches as far East as Greenland. Centered in Yakutsk, three quarters of the population makes its home scattered across Yakutia's vast, varied, and extreme landscape. There are countless possibilities for decisive travelers to explore this romantic wilderness.

Yakutia also fosters close cultural, political, economic and industrial relations with the independent Turkic states through membership in organizations such as the Turkic Council and the Joint Administration of Turkic Arts and Culture

Description: The flag of the Sakha Republic is a horizontal four-color. The colors, form the top to bottom stripe, are light blue (3/4 of the flag's width), white (1/16), red (1/16), and green (1/8). The light blue stripe is charged with a white disc in the center. The diameter of the disc is 2/5 of the flag's width.
The disc represents the northern sun. The light blue, white, and green colors stand for the sky, snow, and taiga landscape respectively. The red symbolizes the courage and constancy of the people.

Slideshow with photographs of cold winter weather in Oymyakon, Siberia / Russia. The lowest temperature we registered during the journey was -57.1C in the early morning. We were said there were -60 degrees Celcius at night, but we, frankly, overslept it. In the video you'll see the following settlements: Cherkekh (outdoor museum), Khandyga (w/ guesthouse and church), Teplyj Klyuch (right before mountains), Kyubyume (gas station in the night), Tomtor (horse breeding farm, store, sports house, Chyskhaan Ice Tunnel, etc) and Oymyakon (you'll identify it quickly). The lowest temperature we registered during the journey was -57.1C in the early morning. We were said there were -60 degrees Celcius at night, but we, frankly, overslept it.
In the video you'll see the following settlements: Cherkekh (outdoor museum), Khandyga (w/ guesthouse and church), Teplyj Klyuch (right before mountains), Kyubyume (gas station in the night), Tomtor (horse breeding farm, store, sports house, Chyskhaan Ice Tunnel, etc) and Oymyakon (you'll identify it quickly).
Unfortunately, the soundtrack is 6 min only, and the text says about groing to the south, but we went to the east in the deep north :)

Russia: Over 100 evacuated from stranded ship in Sakha river
Over 100 people were evacuated by Russia’s Emergencies Ministry in Sakha Republic after a ship ran aground in the middle of the River Lena on its way to Yakutsk. Traditional wooden fence of Sakha people for haystack built without a single nail
This fence has been built within a couple of hours using some wood from nearby forest. This is the way the Sakha people in Eastern Siberia used to protect the haystack from wild animals and horses.

The most powerful hurricane in the Atlantic for nine years is moving towards Jamaica with wind speeds of up to 260km/h (160mph), strong enough to wreck houses. Weather forecasters have upgraded Hurricane Matthew to category five, the highest on the scale of intensity.
