Jason Michael Lee (born April 25, 1970) is an American actor and skateboarder known for his role as the title character on the NBC television series My Name is Earl, his portrayal of Syndrome in the film The Incredibles, his role as Dave Seville in the Alvin and the Chipmunks films, and his work with director Kevin Smith.
Lee was born in Orange County, California, the son of Carol and Greg Lee. He was raised in Huntington Beach, and attended Ocean View High School.[citation needed]
Lee was a prominent professional skateboarder in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He co-founded Stereo Skateboards with Chris Pastras in 1992, and the pair revived the company in 2003 after it had been defunct for several years. Lee and Tony Hawk were the first two skateboarders to receive a signature shoe with Airwalk. Lee later worked with Hawk when he lent his voice and likeness to the skateboarding video-game Tony Hawk's Project 8. Lee later appeared in another skateboarding video game in 2010 with Skate 3 as 'Coach Frank', a character created during development for Stereo.
Jaime Elizabeth Pressly (born July 30, 1977) is an American actress and model. She is best known for playing Joy Turner on the NBC sitcom My Name Is Earl, for which she was nominated for two Emmy Awards (winning one) as well as a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She has also appeared in films such as Joe Dirt, DOA: Dead or Alive and I Love You, Man.
Pressly was born in Kinston, North Carolina, the daughter of Brenda Sue (née Smith), a dance instructor, and James Liston Pressly, a car salesman. She has two siblings: sister Jessica and brother James Liston Pressly, Jr. She spent 11 years studying gymnastics and dancing.
Pressly attended Costa Mesa High School in California, where her mother had moved while her parents were going through a divorce. By age 14, she was the spokeswoman for her modeling agency "International Cover Model Search" and had begun to gain recognition for her modeling in the USA, as well as in Italy and Japan.[citation needed] Pressly subsequently sought and succeeded in having herself legally emancipated from her parents at the age of 15 so she could take up a modeling job in Japan; neither of her parents could make the trip, so she had to be emancipated to go on her own.
My Name Is Earl is an American television comedy series created by Greg Garcia that was originally broadcast on the NBC television network from September 20, 2005, to May 14, 2009, in the United States. It was produced by 20th Century Fox Television and starred Jason Lee as the title character.
Most episodes from the first season, then only a few from the rest, begin with Earl presenting the premise of the series: "You know the kind of guy who does nothing but bad things and then wonders why his life sucks? Well, that was me. Every time something good happened to me, something bad was always waiting round the corner: karma. That's when I realized that I had to change, so I made a list of everything bad I've ever done and one by one I'm gonna make up for all my mistakes. I'm just trying to be a better person. My name is Earl."
