Lyrics (tweaked):
You were a child
Crawling on your knees forward
Making
Mama so proud
Standing out from the crowd
We like to see you thriving
You pay attention in class
No time to think of what you're missing
[Chorus:]
Control yourself
Don't lose sight of the real problems
This family needs spirit, you are wanted
Control yourself
You're not alone in these hallways
This family's a team, striving to be someone
The water is warm
Take a moment, reach outward
No baby is born
With his name on a placard
We all give and take
The answer's in the breeze, learn it
And in the end decisions are made and not bought
So go forth with confidence, show what you've got

This was done for my high school film class. The idea was to create a cover of a popular song using nothing but sounds recorded on the school campus - not just musical instruments, but also phone beeps and door slams and staplers and
... you get the idea.
Nothing is synthesized. I didn't write the original song, but I did personally arrange, record, process, mix, and master absolutely everything in this track, and even tweaked the lyrics. It took an absurd amount of work on my part alone, but I also need to thank everyone else involved in this mammoth project for their invaluable contributions - including a huge ensemble of musicians and sound effect makers, but particularly Jeff Lee, the visuals wizard in charge of video editing and most of the filming, and Mr. McCauley, our knowledgeable and supportive teacher, who worked through the second half of the project on a broken leg. This would not have been possible without such a ridiculously supportive network of collaboration, and you all have my sincere gratitude.
Thanks for listening.
Andrew
