Irish Coast Guard Rescue Walker From '5 Story High' Cliff Ledge in Howth
Today at 1700hrs the Irish Coast Guard unit at Howth Harbour was tasked to a person in difficulty on 50m sea cliffs near Ceanchor Road, Dublin. Unable to find a way off the beach, the person had climbed up the cliff from the beach below, and become crag-fast, unable to move up or down. The casualty was located on a small ledge of a vertical section 15 meters above the shoreline rocks below; equivalent to being on the 5th story of a high-rise building.
A sea cliff rescue climber from the Irish Coast Guard was lowered in from the top of the cliffs, and using a rescue strop, secured the casualty into a safe position clear of rockfall. The response team used a rope rescue haul system to recover both climber and casualty to the cliff top. The casualty required no further medical assistance and was assisted by Gardai back to their transportation.
The Irish Coast Guard would like to thank the members of the public who alerted the emergency services using "CASPER"; Call 112,Ask for the correct service, Speak clearly and slowly, give a good Position, Explain the emergency, and Remain where you are.

Lisa Morel[edit]
Lisa Morel is introduced in Adventure Comics #266 (November 1959) as one of several violet-eyed Atlantean children born unable to adapt to the watery world. They had been sent to the surface in waterproof lifeboats so they might survive among land-dwellers, and Lisa had been adopted by the scientist Dr. Hugo Morel and his wife. With Aquaman in danger, Lisa's water-breathing and telepathic powers awaken; she makes herself a costume identical to Aquaman's, takes on the name "Aquagirl" and fights alongside him. However, her new-found powers are short-lived, and she loses them permanently. This is the first and last appearance of the character.[1]
Selena[edit]
Selena is a young Poseidonis teenager who temporarily teams up with Aquaman under the name "Aqua-Girl" in World's Finest Comics #133 (May 1963) to make her former boyfriend jealous; she succeeds, making Aqualad jealous of her temporary status as Aquaman's sidekick as well. This is the first and last appearance of the character.[2]
Tula[edit]
Tula is introduced in Aquaman Vol. 1 #33 (May--June 1967).[3][4] After losing her parents soon after her birth, she had been found and adopted by one of the royal families of Atlantis. Given the title Princess of Poseidonis, Tula is schooled in Atlantean traditions, and never leaves the royal palace until she meets Aqualad (Garth) at age 15 in this issue.[5]
Tula sometimes helps Aqualad with missions during his time with the original Teen Titans, using the name Aquagirl.[6] When Aquaman leaves his throne to search for his then-missing wife Mera, Narkran takes over Atlantis as a dictator. His reign falls only when Tula leads a rebellion against him. Tula and Garth resume their romance when he returns to Atlantis, and they later appear in the 1980s revival series New Teen Titans to aid the Titans in bringing down the H.I.V.E..
Death[edit]
During the Crisis on Infinite Earths limited series (1985--1986), Aquagirl is killed by the villain Chemo when she drowns in water that he has poisoned.
Years later, in the Tempest mini-series, a woman claiming to be Tula enters Garth's life. In truth, it is a doppelganger created by the villainous Slizzath as part of an elaborate plan to siphon Garth's mystical energies for his own dark purposes. Garth sees through the ruse and is able to defeat Slizzath, and finally gain a sense of closure about Tula's death. It is also at this time that Garth adopted a new identity as "Tempest."
Most recently, Tula reappears in Teen Titans (vol. 3) issues 30 and 31. Aquagirl is brought back to life by Brother Blood — along with Hawk and Dove, Phantasm, and Kole — to fight against the Titans. After being freed by Beast Boy and Raven. Kid Eternity is able to lay the deceased Titans back to rest.
Tula has a statue in the "Hall of Fallen Titans" at Titans Tower, alongside the original Hawk and Dove, Kole, and others. A year later, Tula is channeled by Kid Eternity when the Titans face Blood again. She angrily pummels the villain, claiming to be enraged about being resurrected as his puppet. She later is then returned to the afterlife after her time limit in Eternity's body is reached.

ITV - Wild Ireland (2015)
Wild Ireland is a six-part series which sees presenter Christine Bleakley going home to Ireland to travel the length of its 1500 mile west coast - the longest continuous coastal route - known as the Wild Atlantic Way.
During the series, Christine will meet a host of fascinating characters, discover a landscape of natural wonders and reveal the coastlines hidden treasures as she explores the entire route from Malin Head in the north, to Clonakilty in the south.
Starting at the most northerly point of the island, where Christine learns the story of how Ireland first got its name, she then drives, bikes, hikes, swims and kayaks her way along the coastline. On her travels, Christine visits numerous historical sites, takes on some extreme sports, learns about harvesting and preparing local food delicacies and introduces the viewer to some of the most spectacularly landscapes and fascinating history in the world.
From climbing Knocknarea Mountain and visiting a large Cairn older than the Pyramids, to learning how to prepare wild salmon; from trying to master the wild Atlantic waves which attracts surfers from around the world, to joining star-gazers at Dark Sky Reserve - one of only three locations in the world that is free of light pollution, Christine offers a captivating commentary on the Wild Atlantic Way.
Part 1:
In episode one, Christine heads to Louisburgh in County Mayo to experience 'coasteering' - a mixture of swimming, climbing and cliff jumping. After practicing her cliff-jumping technique on smaller cliffs, Christine reaches the edge of a 25ft vertical drop into the cold Atlantic Ocean. A nervous Christine watches the rest of the group complete the jump before tackling it for herself, saying: "I purposely didn't look over the edge until the very last second, and now that I have done it's put me completely off. I have not got the courage to go first. It's ridiculously high."
Part 2:
Christine Bleakley climbs Knocknarea Mountain in Co Sligo, learns how to cut turf, explores sea arches and caves by kayak, and visits Blacksod Lighthouse on the Mullet Peninsula in Co Mayo, as she continues her exploration of the 1,500-mile Wild Atlantic Way on the west coast of Ireland.
Part 3:
Christine follows the pilgrims' trail to Croagh Patrick, Ireland's holy mountain, which many people traditionally climb barefoot. She also enjoys a surfing lesson, visits the fjord of Killary Harbour on the border between Co Galway and Co Mayo, and helps out on a mussel farm for the day.
Part 4:
On the fourth leg of her journey, Christine learns to sail on a classic fishing boat, the Galway Hooker, and visits Ireland's most popular natural attraction - the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare, which tower above the Atlantic. She also travels by ferry to the Aran Islands, where she explores the landscape riding a traditional pony and trap.
Part 5:
On leg five of her journey along the 1,500-mile-long Wild Atlantic way, Christine Bleakley reaches Co Kerry, where she kayaks out into the Dingle bay in search of the famed dolphin, Fungie. Later, she explores the country's love of horse riding with a lesson on the beach, before staying up late to join a band of local star-gazers at the Dark Sky Reserve.
Part 6:
Christine Bleakley travels across open ocean in Ireland's only cable car, before exploring the treacherous waters of Mizen Head, where she joins the coastguard for a day. Finally, she casts her line to catch some fish as her 1500-mile journey along the longest continual coastal route comes to an end

Shot off from Dewey Hill across the channel, the fireworks are accompanied by choreographed music from Grand Haven's Musical Fountain. For over 75 years, visitors have been wowed by what has been described as "The best fireworks display in Michigan."
Festival History
The festival unofficially began in 1924 as a Coast Guard personnel only picnic when the local Coast Guard station held rowing competitions for those service members stationed in Grand Haven. Today the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival has become a premier event with attendance of over 350,000 people including the nations highest ranking Coast Guard dignitaries from Washington, D.C.
The focus of the annual Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival is the National Coast Guard Memorial Service honoring those who sacrificed their lives in the service of their country while fulfilling their motto "SEMPER PARATUS" ("Always Ready"). Each year since the first picnic in 1924 and the first festival in 1937, we have celebrated our heroes, the men and women of the United States Coast Guard with fun filled family events at the annual Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival. Grand Haven is honored by its designation as "Coast Guard City, USA" by an Act of Congress and signed by the President of the United States on November 13, 1998.
Successfully honoring the men and women of the United States Coast Guard at this annual event would not be possible without the cooperation of the United States Coast Guard, the local municipalities of Grand Haven, Spring Lake, and Ferrysburg, hundreds of dedicated volunteers and our generous corporate sponsors.

Four taken to Vermont hospital after Amtrak train derails An Amtrak passenger train derailed in central Vermont on Monday, sending at least four people to the hospital but there were no immediate reports of life-threatening injuries, officials said on Monday.
The train, en route from St. Albans, Vermont, to Washington D.C., was reported derailed near Roxbury, about 20 miles south of the state capital Montpelier, after it hit debris on the track from a rock slide, Amtrak said in a statement.
The U.S. national passenger rail service said the derailment of Train #55 was reported to local law enforcement agencies at 10:30 a.m. (1430 GMT).
Police and emergency crews went to the scene, Vermont State Police spokesman Scott Waterman said.
One Twitter user, who identified himself as Brian Bell, posted photographs of a train pressed up against a pile of rocks. “Hit a rock slide,” an accompanying message said. Images from others showed train cars that had slid down an embankment.

Body found during search for missing El Faro cargo ship -U.S. Coast Guard MIAMI, Oct 5 (Reuters) - The U.S. Coast Guard on Monday said its crews had found a body and an empty, heavily damaged lifeboat in their search for the cargo ship El Faro, believed to have sunk after going missing off the Bahamas in Hurricane Joaquin.
Rescuers are no longer looking for the ship, which sent a distress call four days ago after getting caught in the powerful storm's ferocious winds and 50-foot seas, Coast Guard Captain Mark Fedor said.
